People keep asking how it could have been any better. Paneling for the exterior is one way. Slopes to make it look round is another. Neither of those would have cost too much more. Also, updating the minifigures a little further to bring them up to modern standards (limb printing and dual molding) would have been nice, especially since this will ostensibly be on the shelves for nearly a decade. That also shouldn't have cost too much.

This would make an interesting topic of its own. Unnecessary. The Slave I Boba Fett would be fine.

Your designs get better and better. I'd love that Dragon Trainer!

Very nice! At first, I thought this was a really nice build, but hearing the story that went with it made it even better. It is a beautiful build, though. Lots of really nice foliage everywhere, and the house is great. The flat blue water looks wonderful. Nice work!

This is a great build. I love the concept, and it's pulled off nicely. That center tree is really cool. Good work!

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

Just another reason to be against licensed series... -
I work in broadcasting, so I watch a lot of movies. I watched How to Murder Your Wife. Good stuff.

Nexo Knights wishlists

I just want Nexo Knights to embrace how ridiculous it is and go for broke. -
I watched a really interesting documentary about Paul Simon and Graceland called Under African Skies. Really cool and informative.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours

A price increase would be atrocious. -
I watched Mystery Date. It's a good movie, quite funny.

The idea and the build together are what makes a good project. This one, in my opinion, was a great idea. The brick-built characters thing wasn't a great idea, if you ask me, but they definitely look very recognizable. I think this one is a case where it was successful because people really wanted to see the license, not the set. Or it just happened to get more publicity, or it was just posted at the right time. There could be a variety of reasons this one was voted into review. But yes, it's a good build of a good idea, and both of those generally need to be in place. And I agree, if something has been done before (in any scale), the chances of it being a successful Ideas project are diminished.

I watched the Mighty Ducks earlier. Great classic movie.

I watched American Buffalo. I found it to be boring, and lacking in any real story. The acting and dialogue were good, though.

I agree.

Yeah, I guess they can be rotated, but I still don't think that makes for "plenty of facial expressions."

You mean there are a few different positions for the eyebrows. That's about it.

I guess I got confused with the discussion switching back and forth between the AT-ST and AT-AT. I was talking about the AT-AT in my last post. There's nothing really objectionable about the AT-ST, but I don't see it getting through review. That's because it's a project from an IP that they make many sets from, and I don't anticipate many Star Wars projects making it through Ideas. It's also because I believe that there is inevitably an AT-ST somewhere in their pipeline. So, while there may eventually be an AT-ST set, I don't think it will come from an Ideas project. If someone is making a project for Ideas, it would benefit the cause to post it in a variety of other places, like here, Facebook, and other social media sites. That way, they can maximize the number of votes. So I don't think anyone with a serious project "will only show it there and didn't design it for the fun of it." I think that even if a project is created with the goal of passing it through Ideas, it is also made for the fun and love of building. But the point of Ideas should be to suggest and vote for projects to become sets, and as such, all projects on Ideas should be viable candidates for production.

The one good thing about the Death Star minifigures not being updated to dual molding and limb printing is that for people like me who will not be buying the set, we don't have to worry about buying them at a huge markup on BrickLink due to exclusivity. Hopefully, the updated minifigures will come in smaller sets later. Also, the set would have cost about $275 back in 1990 (when I was 9-10). The biggest set I would have gotten back then was King's Mountain Fortress, which retailed for $58. Or in 1992 it would have been $290, when the biggest set I actually got was Imperial Trading Post for $85. Granted, they didn't make sets of this size back then, but I guess it's not completely unrealistic to imagine a wealthy parent or grandparent buying their child a set that was 3-4 times as expensive as the sets I begged for in my youth.

That's really nice of you! Some surely do, if they are as kind and selfless as you.
-
I'm not saying that's the only reason. I guess I just don't think the braid is that important to the character.

Some kids do give a crap about inaccuracies. Especially if you're talking about 12 year old kids. Would a 7 year old kid care? Well, you're probably right, but I don't know any parent that's going to buy a $500 LEGO set for their kid, even for Christmas. Maybe that's because I'm not part of the more affluent society.

Nice build, and nice collection of minifigures. I like the rock work, and the tree looks great. That's a great collection of minifigures from various sources. I like how well the Rohan, Viking, and CMF parts work together. The kids on the side make a nice addition to the troops. Good work!
