(Moderators: I put this in Town, because at it's heart, this is a simple MOD of a Town set, and looks like a completely normal bus anyway. If it went to licensed, it would be out of place. Just a thought!) I tried using the upcoming Moving Truck (set 40586) girft with purchase to make the Magic School Bus from the TV show / books of the same name, as I loved them as a kid. Credit is also due to @R0Sch for his recreation of set 40586 for the inspiration to do this... without his clear rendered pictures, I would have never though of doing this. You can see his fantastic recreation in the discussion topic about the GWP. ...and now as Ms. Frizzle always says: "To the BUS!" I had to lessen the amount of windows by one row, and I removed the rear emergency exit door for simplicity. Speaking of doors, I wish LEGO had a smaller, doubled version of the size of door I currently am using. (like the new bigger 1x6x6 version that just came out, but for this 1x4x6 size frame) It just looks weird to have a regular door on a bus! The moving stop sign is an addition of mine, as it is unclear if it's on the actual bus from the cartoons / books. As a matter of fact, I can only think of a scant handful of times I've seen this side of the bus in the show! The titular vehicle from the original (and best!) "Magic School Bus" TV show, along with the original inspiring books as reference image. It's not a perfect match, but it's close enough for me. ...and before anyone asks: I can't possibly make Ms. Frizzle into a mini-figure to drive this bus: I could never do her unique sense of fashion justice! That's about all I have on this MOC. Aren't you glad you didn't stay home from school today? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated on this model!

Rex dangervest arms? (Outdated)
Murdoch17 replied to Lemerbrix's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Sorry to say this, but you might be up a creek as there are none for sale on Bricklink... anywhere! You might have to buy a torso just to pop the arms off as I don't think you're gonna get anybody to send you just two parts as shipping would be tremendous for the price of the parts. (I could be wrong, though...) -
Thanks! I was inspired to combine the roof from Detective Office with the music store from the WV set by the style of a building in downtown of my home city. (for those wondering what building: 727 North 1st Street, St. Louis, MO is the exact building. It used to be a old warehouse for tobacco, but is now a Old Spaghetti Factory restaurant location on it's lowest level.) Anyway, it has this late 1890's / early 1900's painted cast-iron look to it, and was perfect to be repurposed for my post office. Picture in spoiler of building in question from St. louis City website, but BE WARNED: it is VERY LARGE!!

The only time I've ever seen them doing anything at the Superbowl was an ad for LEGO Movie 2 - The Second Part. (It was nothing too special.)

"It was a Monday, a day like any other day. I left a small town for the apple in decay. It was my destiny, It's what I needed to do. They were telling me, I'm telling you. I was inside looking outside, the millions of faces, but still I'm alone. Waiting, hours of waiting, paying a penance - I was longing for home." - Foreigner and their song 'Long, long way from home' (or at least a portion of the song) This seedy, rundown looking building is a heavily modified version of half of the 2015 set 10246 (Detective Office) from the modular building line. I removed the blue barber shop building and cookie-smuggling play features, and added an exterior staircase. I also added a billboard on the opposite wall taken from the Brick Tales pop-up book's cover, plus a new, simpler water tank on the roof. Then, just for the heck of it, I decided to take my de-modularized detective office and modularize it with a removable baseplate. Why, you ask? Because I just wanted to make it usable at Gateway LUG shows since we use modular buildings, but at home I don't use modular buildings. I realized I couldn't put it on a straightaway like the original 10246 set, as there is a billboard I placed on one side that makes this impossible. Thus I put it on a corner... but wait - it's too small for a corner module! So, I decided to build in a wooden fence for the one side where the billboard is, to bring it in line with other modular buildings. I added a gate for access to the pool hall's back door, and placed a tile footing to keep the building removable from the baseplate. Naturally, this made it impossible to put in the connecting pin holes, but they are rarely used anyway so I felt confident it doesn't matter if I left them out. As you can see, the original medium nougat is changed to sand green, and the dark green awnings are now old printed slopes from the 1990's, the red POOL neon sign is now printed round tiles, among MANY other things that were changed around. The upper floor features the quite messy detective's office. Papers everywhere, a hat stand, desk fan, quite a few places to store case info and a telephone. By comparison, the pool hall is pretty sparsely decorated, with a trophy on a stand, darts / dart board, pool cues, and billiard table. Oh yeah, there is a picture on the wall too. The modular, removable base without the building attached. Be sure to mind the guard dog! For it's entire production run of fifteen million vehicles, made from 1908 to 1927, the Model T by Ford came in any color you wanted... as long as it was black. This particular Tin Lizzie's body was inspired by Calin's MOC over on Flickr. It's supposed to be based on the 1923 model year and the Detective figure fits in the drivers seat. The rear of the car with the spare tire. (I just love how Calin used the window frames mounted horizontally for the drivers cabin... it's so ingenious!) EDIT 2/4/24: I even wrote a small story about my detective, who now has the CMF Noir Detective outfit, but the same IJ hat / hair as before. "...'It's over Joe! Turn yourself in!' I screamed into the desolate train yard. Of course, no response. He knew what awaited him back at the penitentiary - the electric chair was a sweet release compared to the desolate inhuman solitude of permanent solitary confinement that awaited him. Suddenly, a movement to my right caught my eye - it was Joe, running away at full speed, bounding over switch handles and jumping rails like a scared jackrabbit in the darkness of the witching hour. I hopped in my Model T to catch up with him at full tilt, almost tearing out my suspension in the process. I grumbled to myself about sending the Feds a bill for car repairs, when I heard a lonesome wail of a steam whistle. 'So THAT'S his game!' I said to no one in particular. 'He's gonna hop a freight!' I headed for the sound, when into my headlights came a sight I'll never forget. Jailbreak Joe came to a skidding halt, trying to get close enough to the engine to hop on the front deck of the loco as it sped past. Only problem was he hit an oil patch, invisible in the darkness. He went tumbling into the path of the loco, knocking himself out in the process by hitting his head of a rail. I tried to pull him clear while the train went into emergency, whistle shrieking like a banshee all the while. Simply put, I was too late to save Joe..." Thoughts, comments, questions, and complaints welcome!

Norfolk and Western M Class 4-8-0 in 1/35th scale

Nice model! I especially love the cowcatcher and the accurate cab. Needless to say, this engine better watch out for the business end of any track-hoe's that cross it's path! (Sorry, it had to be said!) -
Nice work!

I would kill for a tramp steamer: either the Bantu Wind or the Coronado (the ship that Panama Hat was on that blew up). The zeppelin and submarine would be appreciated, but probably aren't happening. ..Then again, we got the Flying Wing in 2009, which is partially based on a real aircraft. (albeit the real one had jets instead of the film's prop-powered plane and didn't exist at this point in time) -
DC superheroes MOC wave: The Brick Knight Returns

You can add my name to the petition as these are all awesome! My favorite is the Doomsday one... the giant bat-mech is too cool! My second fav is the superman mech, it's got that late fifties space-age look with the bubble dome. Fantastic work @Mandalorianknight! -

[MOD] Jurassic Park T-Rex Breakout 76956 Mod

"This is getting out of hand... now there are two of them!" ...oh wait, wrong franchise! Anyway, fantastic mod! As for how the cars were propelled, I believe they were pulled along the center track by a chain. When the power went out, the chain stopped pulling, stranding them at this animal paddock and we all know what happens next! (where's the goat?!) -
Nice work! Good and long tunnels are always fun to add to layouts... modular ones are even better! ...and yes, I spotted the ruby-eyed face! (I had to really look for it and go back through a second time to do it)

Nice work! I love it, I might borrow some techniques from it for my own 1930's town's postal truck.

Unusual/illegal building techniques
Murdoch17 replied to brickhead_07's topic in General LEGO Discussion
@Toastie I cannot claim the fame of naming The Blade of Exact-Zero... that came from the first Lego Movie, along with Kragle (KRAzy GLuE), the Fleece Scepter of Que-Tep (Q-Tip) and the Polish Remover of Neil (Nail Polish Remover) and many others. (The latter items two remove prints from Lego, and actually can melt it if not applied right!) I also have someone in my family cut the baseplates. my hands shake too much for me to dare doing so myself! Also, that song actually was, believe it or not, written by a then-14 year old, (I think the son of the film's director?) and he made more money than the director did, thanks to the subsequent use of the song in the M*A*S*H television show as end and opening credits. Fun fact: there are three sequel series that were made about M*A*S*H after the original series ended: "Trapper John, M.D.", "After M*A*SH", and "W*A*L*T*E*R"... and yes, I looked all this up to confirm! *Yes, I did those names from memory. (They might not be spelled right, but neither were they said right in the movie!)- 21 replies

Don't have 32 x 32 light gray baseplate or do you need an odd size baseplate? Have a ton of spare 48 x 48's laying around? I just break out "the Blade of Exact-Zero" and cut to fit!- 21 replies

Just a suggestion @admiral_typhoon, this thread might get more traffic if the title said more. Something like: "Venture Koi spaceship - Lego Universe SHIP." This vessel deserves more attention: it's just that awesome!
