The Love for Printed Pieces Thread/Sticker Resentment Thread
Murdoch17 replied to danth's topic in General LEGO Discussion
The Maersk Sealand / Line sets were really bad at doing this. It was done over 40 times in EACH of the four versions of the ship from 2004, 2005, 2006, and again in 2010. However, at least when the Maersk Triple E set came out in 2014, the 48 stickers you placed on the cargo were only on single bricks and not multiples... but the logo was still across multiple bricks. And all this after they said they weren't doing that stickers across multiple bricks anymore in 2008!- 183 replies

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Murdoch17 replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I can just see it now: The year is 2060 - America went bankrupt back in the mid-2050's, and Disney, after buying out all their competition to become Hollywood's only movie producer, has bought the USA at auction. Let's see what a typical trip to Disney Nation starts out like with this informational video clip for all international visitors: "Welcome to Disney Nation, folks! I'm your President for life - Mickey Mouse! As you enter the wonderful Nation of Disney, be sure to get your behavior and dress code guides! They'll come in real handy if you want to avoid the Animatronic-Weasel Police later on! Anybody not meeting the rules is gonna have to share some quality time with Prison Warden Pete, and you don't want that, do ya? Also, don't forget to get your mandatory facial-recognition scan taken with Walt Disney... we had him wheeled out of cryo-storage just for you, our very special guest! I got to go do some important government things, but remember folks: if you see anything weird, strange, or out of line with the guidelines, be sure to contact our friendly re-education desk, and we'll take care of it faster than you can say bibity-bobity-boo!" (I think i need an aspirin. Writing in Mickey's voice gave me a headache!) -

Since I can't afford the new Blacktron GWP's threshold, I decided to convert the spaceship from the film "Lightyear" into original Blacktron colors. As such, the blue will become yellow, and white will become black, with all the trans-green changed to trans-red. (I had to change two part types as the slopes by the canopy aren't buyable in black from Bricklink yet, although they do exist in the Black Panther bust set.) Anybody else done something similar with set 76382 - XL-15 spaceship? -

I would love a Haunted Mansion from Disneyland at figure scale, or the Tower of Terror from Disney World! (I'm still mad they re-themed it at Disneyland) -

That rendition is not held together by the Lego... I'm sure it's glued or has a hidden structural skeleton, because the parts are only pushed together very slightly at the lowers facing corner. The outer edges aren't pushed together at all. My local LUG has a much more basic arch on display right now at a show, but it's incredibly fragile. The whole Arch (as a set) wouldn't stand up to a gentle table nudge, much less people being less than kind with assembly. It takes a lot of finesse and failures to get right. It just doesn't work well enough for LEGO standards. That's why I jokingly voted for it. It's just never gonna happen for very good reasons.- 259 replies

Blacktron Cruiser GWP Revealed on Brickset! I even see they put the sticker on the mailbox upside down... It seems it's no longer owned by Blacktron, as it holds the Triforce from Legend of Zelda! I guess Blacktron is actually secretly run by Gannon? -
Quick update: Here is all the progress I can manage on the the '59 Cadillac without the 27 remaining parts I ordered from BrickLink this afternoon.

This is fantastic news, and I'll add to the chorus saying 2014 Arctic was better. I hope next summer's keeps orange as the main color scheme so I can keep going with my custom space theme. I thought I'd built everything I could think off for my space base (made using 2014 Arctic sets and Arctic -inspired MOC's), but now I can have fresh ideas! Thanks LEGO! -
Sorry for the late reply, but those fins are actually a left-over part of set 21108. Also since my original post, I've removed the opening doors and recolored the dark gray model to green, as can be see in more detail in the first post. I've actually made a lot of progress on this model in real life, with only 48 parts left to buy. Thoughts?

Merry Christmas everyone! Here's a Christmas update for you all on this project: Everything left to find for the switch tower and the green 1959 Cadillac Eldorado* costs so little (about fifteen bucks for both together before S&H), so I combined them into one project to save on shipping. All said and done there are 97 parts left to order. (some aren't in the picture) Thoughts? *The car model is a heavy MOD of 2016 Ideas set 21108 - Ghostbusters Ecto 1

Okay, but that would mean an extra step (or several!) to do that. Are you willing to pay a lot more for those machines and the cost of heady-duty cardboard? Also, anything heavier gauge in relation to cardboard than what they have would run counter to their current environmental teachings. And besides, sadly, nobody really recycles like they should: even if you do it right, it still gets dumped somewhere - especially if it's mixed together and not pre-sorted at the source. (consumer) Most larger sets do that by sticking them with the instructions in a bag, but they should really do it for all sets. However, you then run the risk of getting stickers accidentally stuck to the instructions!

If customs is going to open a box, they're going to open a box. No amount of cardboard is going to stop that. Customs going through your stuff is just a risk you run when your order from abroad.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

There are are a few on Rebrickable under the alt builds tab, @FrkW. -
Jingle Bells, prison smells, Chicago laid an egg, the Bluesmobile lost a wheel, yet the Blues Bros. got away! Happy Holidays and Season's Greetings everybody! (The car STILL isn't done, but it's done enough to take a picture for this card! Also, @Moon_Knight you can kinda see how the air-raid siren is coming together above. It's not totally done, but getting closer...)

Is the cylinder packing wearing thin, just to be accurate to the film dialogue? Fantastic MOC! (I think I've commented on it in three places now...)- 18 replies

Marvel Superheroes 2022 - Rumors & Discussion

Hope it's okay to post this: I just pulled the trigger on the Battle at the Ancient Village (set 76177) from 2021's Marvel - Shang-Chi theme. It was 50% off at Amazon, and I plan on getting ride of the base and turning the aqua parts of the dragon to white. Just curious: has anybody else done color swapping of the dragon from that set? I'm also planning on getting the Spider-car and turning it into the MORBILE on January 1st... I figured I'll just leave off the stickers and not put on a set of headlights to keep it simple. Thoughts? -
Thanks @Shiva! The part you describe will not work because the outermost corner stud would not be used: the MOC goes from 14 wide for most of the model's second floor, to 12 wide on the outer edge of the walls. This takes off that corner stud in the process of the change, making 3676 not usable without a complete redesign. (I hope that makes sense!)

I did a double take reading this post, thinking I'd accidently opened the wrong thread! -
That purple pirate hat, combined with the orange epaulettes and this figure's teal torso from Ninjago might look very nice together... it would be very Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Maybe Sgt. Pepper defected to the pirate (radio) side of life? Or maybe the LSD finally got to him? Of course, now I think I may just have to MOC that out now... a pirate radio ship!
