Technic General Discussion
syclone replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I was wondering , did anyone have any problems with TLG Customer Service when replacing parts? Because today I received my "replacement" of an IR receiver, which resulted to be a WeDo 2.0 medium motor . This is the first time this happens , I had 4 successful replacements before, so it was a not very happy surprise. Awaiting their answer on this now. -
[MOC] Design Practice
syclone replied to HorcikDesigns's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Looks a tad weird having the front sides with gaps and completely enclosed rear. I like the rear part , however the curved panels imho are out of place with a flat hood. Is the edited ("photoshopped" as nowadays ppl say) part the 3mm rigid hose on the front ? It's color is inconsistent through the photos. Btw , why so much noise on the photos? -
Building a scale model of something requires you to follow the original as close as possible. No offence , but those wheels are completely off and they would ruin the 60's design of the car. I hope you'll find a better solution

Very interesting project, it may be a great base for a custom arduino bluetooth control for lego models. Good luck with the Kickstarter campaign! The photos show that this version has only 2 connections on the PF plug rather than typical 4, what means that the servo won't work , and I believe that WeDo sensors neither.

LDD developer mode
syclone replied to Zerobricks's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I discovered one more shortcut: "B" with Caps Lock off gives you XYZ coordinates crosses on the flexaxles , ribbed hoses and tubing . This shows how LDD divides the flexible parts in various sections Here is a picture showing flexible and non-flexible parts: -
Quite dissapointed with this set , was excited about it when it initially was 42051, but it seems to be unnecesarily over-engineered and looks unfinished. I certainly would've liked to see a rack-and-pinion instead of those linkages, a pair more panels to cover the roof, and something better on that arm. The insides look like if someone was randomly taking parts from his collection without looking at colors , would be better with a more organized scheme. And sorry , those blue paels as seats are't growing on me , a 3x5 liftarm MOD is a must. Something that also bothers me is that you have to buy the 8293 instead of them including them by default like in 8052. This set would benefit from some technic firefighter figs , having i mind the tools included. On the positive side , seems like a not bad parts pack , 6 frames, differential, 6 wheels, red panels, a pair of red flex axles... and a silver ribbed hoses Thanks for the extensive review Jim , are the worm gears of the newer mold type ?

I think you mean Ldcad, LDraw is the parts library. If you want to use your current files, first import them to Stud.io, and then export as Ldcad compatible files(I don't remember the extension) to use Lpub. I hope this will help. PS: .lxf files can only be opened in LDD and Stud.io

Medium Size Mining Dumper
syclone replied to jorgeopesi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is it possible to place it the other way around, the frame in the chassis and the small connector on the axle? -

Maybe you could put a balljoint frame between rear wheels to get suspension? -
@Epic Technic They do "work", right click the image, and then "open in a new window" . Photobucket no longer allows for free hosting on other websites

Technic 2017 Set Discussion
syclone replied to CM4Sci's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Yes, it does. I remember a while ago someone made a rotating MOC and shown us how important it is to align them . If they are not aligned, the rotation becomes uneven. -

Nice to hear again from you , I hope the leg will heal fast . The photos are good quality though, not something to worry about, all the details can be clearly seen. -

Probably too wide , the 3l wide links should be more in scale. That is before color vomit got into technic sets -
[MOC] LEGO Forwarder XXL
syclone replied to morson1's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
With each video I am more impressed with it , great work -
Good day. For a long time I wanted to create a moc with various functions apart from steering and drive. Overview: -4x4 drive with 2 diffs -3 steering modes : rear only, crab and all-wheel steering -Boom ascention -Boom extention -Forks tilting -part count of approximately 1000 pieces The forks on the end of the boom were able to be replaced with another attachment by pulling out two 8l axles with stop. The cabin has on openable door , adjustable seat and a lever to switch steering modes. The steering is a very basic type, the front stering motor is attached to a switch , which neutralizes it's movement or decides the direction of steering. the boom is extended through a pulley system , which was done due to lack of 4 stud gearracks. total boom size being fully extended is of 60 studs. The video below shows basic functionality. Something I learned with this build is that I should stick with smaller size mocs and not to rush into medium sized model. All photos here

I assume you used the inner teeth of the turntable, giving it a 1:3 gear reduction, or if you used a planetary solution , a 1:4. I recommend this: http://gears.sariel.pl/ -

Beautiful machine The perfomance is truly amazing , what gear ratio is the hub reduction? -
You're my hero, now I don't feel lonely I kinda miss yellow sets, white is the really overused color.

Jim, excellent review of not so good set . I don't wonder why they used blue (dabudee dabudei...) seats , I wonder why they use these panels as seats, imho 3x5 liftarms look prettier .
