It's roughly 1/2 the diameter of a bar, so it fits, but will be loose.

Really nice!

Something like this?

Yeah, guess it's a bit expensive if you buy one at a time. Those rich europeans.. ;-) I know one from our Danish LUG ordered a big amount and got close to 2/3 the price, so bulk ordering in a [train] LUG near you could be useful. And all the technic fans might chime in as well.. ;-)

Hi, In my setup, adding an extra motor in the front helped, but it also easily pull apart the magnets, so start slowly.. :-) I'm currently running the double set with two motors and one battery box in each end, driven by SBricks. It's a very nice and cool layout, as I can have profiles for the combined train and the separate ends for shunting. Having motors in both ends clearly helps going up and moving at a nice pace.

Welcome to a wonderful world :-) I'm also a bit 'new' after some 'grey' years, but I'm stocking up bricks again to be able to build. It seems you are lucky, having a LEGO Store near by in Newcastle - remember to fill a PAB cup when you come around! :-) And just ask.. there is no such thing as stupid questions - only stupid answers..

Agree - useful bump! Besides, what is a Technic-moderator doing in the Train Forum? ;-)

Hi All, I just had this issue on a hotel in Montreal, and yes - for some reason they seem to block the connection in the hotel gateway! Enabling my VPN back home to the company, made it work! Guest network provider: Guest Tek And no, the installer from the LEGO website does Not have the latest Bricks DB. It installed a ~680MB 'db.lif' (in ~/Library/Application Support/LEGO Company/LEGO Digital Designer on OSX) but it needs to update it. The current OSX version askes if you wanna run in Offline mode, but before you can click Yes/No it crashes.. :-/

I really love that model - looks stunning! Sunday evening I went looking at your technic photos on your Flickr page, and started to play around with it. Lovely stuff. I even started playing with other curve options with 2x2x2/3 slopes and failed to go to bed before I had to leave for th airport around 5am.. ups! ;-)

Using two PF (Rechargeable) Battery Boxes with one IR Receiver?
marook replied to Paperballpark's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Running separate engines in each end of the train, is where SBricks come in handy! They also allow 3Amp current, compared to the 1.5A in the IR system ... -
It looks really great! Keep it up :-)

That would be awesome..

Back then, train sets had stickers for multiple countries in Europe (DK, BD, GB etc..)

Can't wait! :-)

We need those people as well! It's actually ok to be wondering, as light and radio waves is basicaly the some thing, just at different wave lengths(!) - it's all electromagnetic energy traveling at the speed of light The ones our human eye can watch, is bouncing off objects in the phisical world, where radio waves tend to go through most of them, at least to some extend - depending on the frequency. Fun fact: If you see a colored object, that is because that is the light that is bounced by that object. White bounces all and black none. Hope that was more helpful.

It's Bluetooth.. :-)

In stead of using a basic 2x8 plate, maybe try a Modified 2 x 8 with Door Rail or a Modified 1 x 8 with Door Rail?

Base is 4x4 studs. Height (without wires) is: 2 1/3 Power supply at bottum adds one plate and if ports A-B is used, add 2 plates on top. :-)

Lego 7740 set, upgrading/repairing track options
marook replied to beyondtool's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Welcome - That looks nice! I only have a few power-conductors left, but more rails. I use them in bridge designs, as they can be hidden in plates and tiles much better than the new tracks. But all my trains runs with PF. Convert it, and be happy :-) Maybe get a few Sbricks as replacement for the IR-system from LEGO. Sell the tracks if you like on eBay or Bricklink. -
Looks good. Nice easy structure for getting over an open area. :-)
-
Sounds like a great project! Building the bridge section seems to me, as the easy part - it's all the ramps up to the bridge that takes time and structure. Here is one I did some months ago (two actually), where the one is used as part of the ramp on the one side: IMG_1331 by Marook, on Flickr If you happen to have long technic bricks, it's easy to make long ramp sections. The basic rule is that you can make elevation of 2 plates for each track secment (16 studs), or the train will have a hard time go up the elevation. Here is my latest project, spanning 64 studs: Train bridge over water by Marook, on Flickr Have fun, and always ask if you have questions. Looking forward to see your project! :-)
