Flextracks can be used like the other tracks, but they are way harder to support if you wanna use them for an in-/decline and turn at the same time, because they can't be fixed in the curve angle - here the normal tracks is way better. Using flextracks on inclines is also not as great due to the many smal areas where the wheels loose contact with the tracks. But make some tests and see if they are ok for what you have in mind.. it's so hard to tell from 'across the pond'.. ;-)

I do that, but have 2 motors in the front engine. It's a bit slow starting (so realistic) and not happy going up-hill, unless it's up in speed before starting to climb, but I'm trying to get motors for the back engine as well.. :-)

Yeah, the thing is, both LEGO & Maersk are danish companies.. other than that, who has been in products (that was not merchandise?) Shell, Ferrari? There is some models of single items, but not much, as I think they try to stay as neutral as possible. Octan is not a real brand, as I know..

You simply replace the other set of wheels in the other end, then it's automatically 'switched'. You only need the polarity switch if it's in the same position (end at the coaches) or if you have two motors on th same engine (and don't use SBrick in place if the IR..)

Don't know about Australia, but it's printed in the fall catalog for DK, so it's not totally going away just now...

Hmm, it's in the DK online shop since.. june first? But the shop catalogs does not have it - they stil show the old cargo train! Might be Online Only here in DK or EU? If that is the case, the it's not gonna be a hit with the kids.. as they say is their 'target audience'! Wonder why...

Power Functions Train System on Heavy CSX Freights
marook replied to brickbuilder711's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Looks nice! Running on top of soft carpet makes a bit more fragile connection, as it moves up/down as well. Good thing about the new magnets, is they have studs, so you can 'lock' them with a 1x2 plate.. -
I'm beta testing a new version that should be able to run on the latest Mono on Mac. But it's not there yet.. ;-)

Yeah, might be an issue, but then I just take it down and run it around the track a bit... ;-)

The Flickr album has been updated. The simple thing is: On the back of the track, make a 1x8 plate 'bridge' the extension and then use a 1x2 & 2x 1x4 Technic brick to secure the plate. Shelf track extension by Marook, on Flickr Shelf track extension by Marook, on Flickr

I'm impressed. And I have to admit, builds like this (and many others) gives me a lot of inspiration for going back and using those bricks I got when I was a kid! So much, that the last 6 months has gotten me into Bricklink, BlueBrick and a lot of other stuff making LEGO come to life, once again. Thanks!

Hmm, say something about it... ;-)

No. With 1/2 a track length more, it just holds 5 wagons. But I managed to extend it a bit to do just so. Thanks, lights are going in, and the back end needs red lights ;-) Sure, it cover 2-3 plates, so some of the wheels are covered, but all of the orange undercarrige are shown. And thanks for all the feedback!

Hi All, You might know the situation: You've bought some of those boxes with track curves and flex-tracks.. or might even have a set where TLG bundled some.. now, what to do with those tracks? Well, an IKEA Ribba shelf takes 32 pieces: Flex-trax on Ribba shelf by Marook, on Flickr Adding some small screws will stop the flexing and make a nice display: Horizon Express parked on shelf by Marook, on Flickr The shelf is 3.5 plate high, so an on-ramp of two normal tracks make a nice way to get trains on/off your running tracks. UPDATE: A small bonus info: if you don't mount the shelf, the 3 screw-holes on the back fit a cross-axle, so using a 5 or 6M axle can make your train stay safely 'locked' on the shelf when moving it..

Hi All, Anyone know if BB will be updated to run on a 'modern' version of Mono? It states it needs Mono 2.n, but that is years old and only Mono 4.n is available for download :-/ Would like to get it running on OS X..

My ABS R72 & double straights arrived last week and I was finnaly able to pick them up yesterday. Yeah! Here is a short video of my HE running on it: If/when I need more tracks, I'm getting more of this. Now, if only they would make some cross-sections and some switch-tracks as well.. ;-) -
Hi All, Here is a short video of a double Horizon express + 2 wagons extra running on ME Models R72 curves and straights. The front loco is powered with two train-motors, controlled by an SBrick.
