[MOD/MOC] Expanding the 10254 Winter Holiday Train
alsielou replied to mouseketeer's topic in LEGO Town
Lovely work, mouseketeer! All the additions are lovely and useful and the overall look is fantastic, even more cohesive than the original. The passenger car is exactly what it needs, the reindeers will be happy to get a ride rather than having to fly, but that hot cocoa car... oh wow, I want to line up now for a steaming mug of hot cocoa!!! What a wonderful idea! So cute and original. I love it. In fact, now that I've seen that cocoa car, my winter villagers are clamouring for one in their train too. Would you mind if I copied your idea? All credits given, of course. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
alsielou replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I'm going to have to wake up in the middle of the night for this announcement!! Five hours and 6 minutes to go, is that right?? I only decided this year to collect the modulars. I bought the Parisian restaurant last year as I fell madly in love with it and was going to leave it at that. But as they say, once you start you get hooked!! It is definitely about choices and my family and I have given up quite a few things to be able to afford these big sets. -
[moc] Creator #31046 Dump Truck alternate
alsielou replied to Peteris_Sprogis's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Thank you for all your variants on this set, Peteris_Sprogis. I really like this truck. Actually I think it may be my favourite. -
What about this gorgeous little reindeer? The brickset listing says it's a polybag, but it looks like it may be part of this series. http://brickset.com/sets/30474-1/Reindeer

Thanks Jarreth2! Oh I am a tiny bit disappointed that the Brave balcony doesn't work for that purpose as it would have been a great way to display extra minifigs but it doesn't at all affect my plans to purchase this amazing set (I'm just waiting for first Christmas freebie). Those two standing in the clock tower look very sweet though, so that is nice to know!! Although maybe they could just stand on extra bricks to peek over the edge!! I am sure my daughters and I will have fun working out ways to include our other figures!

Love that stop motion video! For those that have built it, is it feasible to put minifigures along the balcony (that has the Brave target practise on it), or could you not see them above the towers?

4-2-4 and 4-4-0 Western Steam locos and their trains
alsielou replied to Murdoch17's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Thank you for posting these very nice trains and especially their LDD files! I will be purchasing the holiday train as my first Lego train and I am very excited about finally getting a train. I already know that i want to make a proper passenger car and extend the locomotive a bit, but had no idea where to start. Well I still don't really until I get a hold of the set and see first hand how it is constructed. However I am sure that your files above will be very helpful to me in understanding a bit more about how lego trains are constructed. I like your extended 4-2-4 locomotive with working pistons, and I like the details in both the passenger cars. Thank you for sharing. -
LEGO Elves 2017 Discussion
alsielou replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I would also welcome a black/shadow dragon as I think it would help to balance out the good vs evil sides a bit. It is far too one-sided otherwise. It would also add to the display- and play-ability of Ragana's castle. My second daughter (age 6) always favours the scary characters in stories so she would be absolutely thrilled to have a shadow dragon. -
Yes I agree that it needs a passenger car. Otherwise it's lovely and we will really enjoy adding this to our winter village setup.
-
The train does look smaller than I had hoped, and I am disappointed that it doesn't have a passenger car, but other than it looks gorgeous - perfect fit for the winter village!! I will be getting it for sure - and then I will spend my time attempting to make my own passenger car. Can't be too difficult right?!?
-
The engine is a bit smaller than I had hoped and it has no passenger car!!! Otherwise I really like the look of it and of course will be getting one. I really want a passenger car though - can anyone confirm from this image whether a (bricklinked) passenger car from the first holiday train would be the right size for this train?

alsielou replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Thank you! I had previously searched for 'lattice' and couldn't find it. -
Photonomicon: Historic Minifig Evolution
alsielou replied to SirBlake's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great list. I am slowly collecting all of these types of minifigures because I love them so much. It's nice to see this list. I like your backdrop too and was wondering what the large lattice window piece is? I need something like that for the church I'm building!! -
Looks beautiful. I am on holidays but I look forward to checking out every single photo of it on Flickr when I get back to my computer !!

Beautiful work! Very sweet indeed! I too wish Lego would make a proper Snow White set but theirs would never be this detailed. I love it.

Wow, what beautiful work! As everyone has said you have captured the look of the buildings perfectly but also all the lush vegetation, walkways and stone walls are really lovely.
-
I love your creation. Such a beautiful fairy tale building. Love the mossy green roof and the asymmetric shape and how you've nestled it into the tree. The interior looks so cosy and inviting, but also without clutter. I also like the big fireplace where the elves can easily cook.

Thanks CopMike, mine arrived in Australia during the week!

Disney Princess 2016 Rumors and Discussion
alsielou replied to Amazing Bricks's topic in LEGO Licensed
How can you tell the character's faces are stickers? I am most disappointed about the big building pieces that just have stickers for windows. I am not even sure that my kids would like those. I would much rather have brick built walls with proper windows. I also agree that Belle is lovely. Not sure if I will get it or not. I will get the Rapunzel set though. -
I think a mod of it could look really good in the winter village, too!

Elves MOCs: Sanctuary of Keys and Aira's tower
alsielou replied to Marishka's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is gorgeous! My daughter will love this and hopefully it will inspire her to rebuild with her own sets. I think my favourite part is the young sailor. Also the hiding hole for the keys. -
MOC: The Fire Elves' Smithy and Magical Shoppe
alsielou replied to Velouria's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
This is a very fun build and my daughter will be very inspired by this when I show her, later. My favourite part is the charred tree, lava and steam rising from the river!! I agree that this fits in very well with the theme. -
This is a very neat idea. It could be done inside the house too. I can just imagine doing this in our lounge room. We have a central light but a hole could be cut in the board within which you could also stand, for improved access. Going off to talk to hubby now...
