  1. My guess that it is a certain 150 meter ship that "...is a truly antiquated craft. Multiple fuel-burning engines. Nemo-esque fines and a hammerhead cockpit suggests an era when spaceships were commissioned and handcrafted." Bonus points to anyone that can identify the source of that description!
  2. Looking good there, Cjd223. Cant wait to get going! Displaying will be a problem though as I have 2 cats that like to investigate things. Mortesv. I've order enough parts for up to 3 transports (I think). Each one will have a different mix of colors. The cargo modules will have a mix of olive, dark blue and dark orange to go with the current color scheme. One will be primarily LBG accented with dark orange and DBG. My kids took their sweet time coming out too! The second one was supposed to be a late October baby but hung around until 11 Nov. Mom wasn't happy! Hang in there! (Oh, and enjoy those large/precarious models while you can. They will go as soon as the kid is mobile!)
  3. Any news Mortesv? Boy? Girl? I pray for a quick delivery and recovery. I'm still waiting for parts. Still no invoice from the Dutch seller which has all of the flat hinges. I've ordered parts for the Rebel Transport and I'll bet I get a few of those done first as I've only got one euro seller and he has shipped already. In the mean time, I do have the MF built and since I've got time on my hands, I've (in the words of Han Solo) made a few modifications myself. One thing you really need to make sure that the pins (#43093) have the friction ridge on them. I initially had the ones without and it was impossible to keep the hexagon printed round tiles aligned. I thought the top look a little flat so added an extra layer of 4x4 corner plates. I put a 1x1 round tile underneath the corner (of the 4x4 plate) near the center (of the MF) to raise that point. Now the top looks a little more dome shaped. I haven't done the bottom yet and I'm not sure I will as I don't to make it too heavy. Hope your builds are going well. 4. If you want (fairly) cheap models with less detail, just look on Bricklink/eBay/Craigslist for older sets without minifigs/instructions/box. You can get a 6212 X-wing off Bricklink for $50.00, a 7140 X-wing as low as $27.00. No need to go backwards in set design..
  5. Murdoch17. I saw your post over on the ME Models thread about needing some cross-overs. Here is a nice custom one that is pretty cheap on eBay. Perhaps it will suit your needs. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Custom-Lego-City-90-Deg-Cross-Crossover-Track-grey-Power-Function-RC-Train-/252443013238?hash=item3ac6c6b076:g:2LIAAOxyOlhSsFGn
  6. A little off topic, but I thought your inspiration may have come from the Han Solo quote in "A New Hope" were he is was talking to Obi-wan about how fast the Falcon was. I went back and re-read the quote and he was said "bulk cruisers" not "bulk freighters". I always wondered what a "bulk cruiser" was. Anyway, great design! Nice to see some color in the world of Light/Dark Bluish Gray space ships.
  7. I was working on the MF tonight while getting the farm and obit report from the folks back in Iowa. Except for those flat hinges that Mortesv is SO fond of, I had all of the parts. One detail part that I am mystified about is the 2x2 rounds tiles that cap off the sides of the fuselage tubes (or the ramp storage area). On Mortesv's model, they have a sticker on them which mimics the hexagon pattern of that area on the MF. Anybody know anything about them? They are not part of the micro model like the cockpit piece is. Nevermind, I found it. It's part #4150px4 from set #4488. They appear to be fairly common at $0.30 to $1.00 each and one guy in the USA has 89 of them at $0.50 each.
  8. One part change I'd recommend is 3x #42446 (Minifig, Neck Bracket with Back Stud). Current color is white which is expensive at $3.00 to $5.00 apiece. Change the color to Light Blue Gray. On LDD, they are inserted on steps 202 and 294 and look to be totally concealed so a color change should not make a difference.
  9. Holy floating sub-sections! In typical LDD fashion, step 1 is to build some of the engines that I don't think get attached until the very end. After looking through the plans, I think I'll start around step 200 to build the frame to which all attaches.
  10. Outstanding! I was hoping it was that ship or a Blockade runner. (hint - hint)! Well, back to the parts pile to see what I got.
  11. Another discovery tonight. The last steps of the PDF are of the Millennium Falcon. I would then assume that those parts are included in the overall parts lists so pulling the Bill of Material list off the scale fighter LDD was unnecessary . Guess I'll have twins now!
  12. Be careful! Once you start you end up here! DSC01466 by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  13. Thanks guys! I down loaded Adobe reader as suggested and it works as advertised. Since I have a bunch of parts, I thought I might get a little building done but no. The second step of the instructions call for seven 1x2 plates with the 3-finger hinge joint. Those parts are ordered from a Bricklink store in Denmark and now they have a banner up that they are on holiday until 11 July! I'll take a look at some of the LDD files but I'm basically on hold for a month.
  14. I took a look at the PDF file for the first time tonight and am having an issue. As pictured below, there is an abrupt transition between the intro slides and the first building steps. I used the increase size function which kind of works but the enlarged image is fuzzy and lacks clarity. Can the PDF be tweaked so that the building slides are the same size? Unless there is a simple PDF function that I am missing the slides are almost too small to be useful. Neb-B Inst screen shot by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  15. Good grief, why didn't I think of that. Thanks! On the Falcon there is a parts issue. The plans show 4x30603 which does not exist in LBG so will need to be painted or swap with the one of the following: 30602: Slope, Curved 2 x 2 Lip, No Studs or 44675: Slope, Curved 2 x 2 No Studs, 3 Side Ports Recessed
  16. ^^ Ok somebody needs a new avatar! Too many Darth wanna-bees! Slugging through the last 3 parts which are as follows: 1x42022 LBG 1x6 slope 2x4287 Sand Green slope inverted 33 1x41765 Sand Blue wedge 6x2 Inverted. I just bought 1x42022 LBG 1x6 slope for $0.27 but I had to reach $15.00 minimum! Love this part! I actually had a small epiphany a couple orders back. I pulled up the parts list for the MF and started sourcing that while hunting down that last few parts for the Neb-B. That has eased the pain a little. When building the Cavegod's AT-AT a few years back, I remember that obtaining the parts took about 2 month and the build about a month. So 1 Oct completion for me?
  17. Yes, an excel spreadsheet is provided that lists all parts for the Neb-B Here is the last line (lot number #531!) 99781 Bracket 1 x 2 - 1 x 2 Light Bluish Gray 4 For the small ships you will need to run a Bill of Materials (BOM) function on LDD to get the parts.
  18. How is every bodies build going? I'm still in the parts ordering phase. Here is a shot of the parts I was able to pull out of my stash. Hopefully, it will keep the cost down but I already got one order in for $150.00 and still have a bunch of odd balls to go. DSC01548 by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  19. As stated, buy the currently available ones. You will rarely find them cheaper. After that, assuming you want to build and display them, go find used ones on Bricklink, Craigslist, or the Marketplace section of various Lego websites.
  20. Just a suggestion on the sticker. I know that everybody probably wants a sticker that looks like the Lego USC style but I think that the design should include the following: "Designed by Mortesv" "Plans by Cjd223" This comes from displaying Cavegods AT-AT at shows and I like to give credit where credit is due (and not have to continually explain it). A little off track off of the topic and I hope this doesn't turn into a big debate - just my 2 cents. Back to pulling parts! Up to page 7 now. So far, I'm over 80% of having the parts needed so this will not kill the bank account.
  21. Glad that you found my design useful! I may have to update my speeders to the rest of your design. Speaking of fragile, that white slope 75 2x1x3 on the back of the wings looks very precarious since it's only being held by only one stud connection on the 1x2 brick with axle hole. You could replace the 1x4 tile on the wing edge with a 1x4 plate and then use the tile on top of that (moved over one stud) to tie together the top of the slope 75. Finish off with a cheese slope and 1x1 tile.
  22. I saw some pictures on Sava's Flickr account of the winner but what was the winning bid? Also does anyone have Brickworld pictures (besides Sava) especially of the layout? Also, congrats to Sava for winning the best Locomotive award, a beautiful NYC 4-6-4.
  23. Uh....that statement does NOT fill me with confidence!
  24. Im replacing 4592c05 (lever with LBG base and handle) with 4592c02 (lever with LBG base and black handle). Price difference is $5.00 per part vs 3 cents! 4592c05 is only found with a few sets to include 10179 and 10143. I'm still only on page 4 of pulling parts out of my collection which has been proving to be very time consuming.
  25. What did you order for the 1/2 barrels on the vanes? 4424 (LBG or grey) or 64951 which needs to be painted?
