  1. Just saw Rogue One. You've got more ships to design/build for the fleet!
  2. I saw Rogue One last night and I was very pleased with the film. It's was exciting and nostalgic in all the ways that AFA was not. The battle scenes, both air and ground, evoked the same since of awe and wonder that I had when watching ANH and ESB 30 years ago. Great fun!Random musing/thoughts: - Very glad that R2 and C3PO were not in the film doing their very tired Laurel and Hardy routine. I didn't need the cameo but it was mercifully short. - K-2 lines did made me laugh although I'm glad that they didn't push the C3PO-esq "the odds of....." line too far.- Nice to see that Jen was "Force-sensitive" but that didn't try to turn her into a Jedi stud with no training (cough....Rey....cough). - X-wing and Y-wing and TIE fighters, oh my! Glad to see these staples from ANH get some good screen time.- AT-AT, and AT-ST's and Rebel transports, oh my! ..........ESB/ROTJ......... (see above). - Enjoyed the Probot Easter egg. It would have been fun to see K2 take one down during the street fight.- As already mentioned, there were a lot of scenes in the trailers that did not make the film. The TIE threatening Jen on the comm tower would indicate that the TIE was piloted by somebody important in the film. Vader perhaps? I wonder what other plot lines were left on the cutting room floor.- Absolutely thrilled with the space battle scenes with many different kinds of ships duking it out. One thing that mildly bugged me was to see UMARMED Rebel transports in the thick of things. Maybe they were Spec Ops or perhaps one was supposed to get through the gate so it could unload some much needed equipment for the ground troops.- That is one resilient Rebel fleet. First they get their butts kicked on Sarif and then just (hours? days?) later they are forced into fighting the Death Star “with small snub fighters”. - I liked the nod to the Kyber Crystals. According to the book, The Making of Star Wars, Kyber Crystals were a central part of the original ANH script. As the story evolved, they were written out. - How does Bail Organa know about Obi-wan? - I never really thought about it before but the Death Star can jump though hyper space! With no visible engines, I wonder how this is done. - With Carrie Fisher now in the hospital, we may very well see more CGI Leia if she is a large part of the next film. I would definitely go see this film again. My faith in the franchise has been restored.
  3. Haven't we seen this before? I think you took it to a Lego show last summer and some pictures were featured on a show review. You did a great job capturing a difficult subject! Any photo's of it running? This is an engine that would be greatly improved with some 4d printed counterweights and those custom side-rods that one guy makes. Also, those cars could really use some of the Cale's custom designed trucks so they are not so bulky. Here is a link to an old thread that has a nice caboose that could be modified a bit to turn it into a fair representation of old number 0579. Oh, and great job on the diorama! shows off the train in a very typically Colorado environment.
  4. Sooooooo, I guess that means there WILL be a finished product sometime?!
  5. Any Y-wing builders still around? On page 37 (Step 41.17) I'm supposed to attach a 1x4 slope brick to the side by pushing onto the clip of a 1x1. Since the clip will not fit inside the 1x4 slope, how do you make it work? I know this would be considered an "illegal" connection but looks to me like some knife work may be needed.
  6. This has been a back-burner project for about a year. I have gathered most of the parts and today I downloaded the instructions. BEWARE!!! I didn't pay enough attention to the download process and ended up getting a bunch of those junk programs that are really good a bogging down your computer. I was able to uninstall all but one program and tomorrow my computer will get a total system reboot to clean it off. Hopefully, I'll be able to report some building progress in a month of so.
  7. You really have two choices. Either sell it as one big bundle for a low price to get rid of it quick or make more money selling pieces/sets individually over a long period of time. Getting a quick sale of all for a high price has the same odds as hitting the lottery. I'd at least separate out all the Lego from other items. You can research sets prices on Bricklink. Here is a listing for one of the most coveted and sought-after Lego sets: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?S=10179-1&ColorID=0
  8. Wow! Now that IS a fleet! No topping that for sure! I think I remember from reading the Star Wars paperback book in the 70's that there were 4 squadrons that attacked the Death Star in ANH: Red and Blue X-wing squadrons and Green and Gold Y-wing. Point being that maybe you could add a dash of color by representing other possible fighter squadrons. Still....A...M...A...Z...I...N...G!!!!!
  9. What a great set-up! Looks like all your missing is Cavegods AT-AT. The 10019 Tantive IV is one of my favorite Lego USC models but it easy to see that it has some scale issues compared with the Neb-B. Make sure to order these parts to "trick-out" your MF: #4150px24 ( Light Gray Tile, Round 2 x 2 with Hatch Hexagonal Pattern) and part #98100pb05 (Light Bluish Gray Cone 2 x 2 Truncated with Millennium Falcon Cockpit). One display note. Your MF is mounted too far back on the spine. Looks like you may have switch the MF position with the center support position.
  10. Oops, you got me there. Let's just say I wanted to stick with an all rebel fleet at this time. On the Corvette, I'd be happy to play around with what you currently have. You know I cannot leave a good thing alone! But if not, I'll patiently what until your ready to release. Family always first!
  11. If you are in the USA, buy this set NOW! https://www.walmart.com/ip/LEGO-City-Trains-Cargo-Train/36246176 As others have said, it's got lots of fun things to do and you will NOT find it cheaper anyplace. Don't bother with ME track at this point. It is fragile, expensive and hard to find. Lego sells 2 "track packs" seen here: https://www.walmart.com/search/?query=lego train tracks&cat_id=4171&typeahead=lego train track Don't bother with collecting a lot of the flexible track. It's not a useful as you think. If you really want to go crazy on extra track, head over to Bricklink.com. Curves: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=53400&ColorID=85 Straights: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=53401&ColorID=85 Switch left: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=53407&ColorID=85 Switch Right: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=53404&ColorID=85 Or you might get lucky on eBay with a lot like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LEGO-LOT-OF-144-TRAIN-TRACK-PIECES-/381831125687?hash=item58e6e89ab7:g:uYoAAOSw8gVX-or2 Have fun!
  12. Been a while since I've viewed this thread and it's great to see that you are still progressing! Very nice street plan! It will be expensive to do but will be stunning when done. Good to see that you made most of the sidewalks 4 studs wide. Busy sidewalks will really make a layout and viewers will want to take in all of the small details. In the picture below you can see a skunk on the loose and other fun vignettes. When building your sidewalks, buy lots of part 87580 ( Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Groove and 1 Stud in Center (Jumper) ). Having a stud to stick minifig feet on is a life saver! Also, when ordering parts on Bricklink, always look at a stores minifig selection under the subheading "town". Many of those generic figures sell for just a dollar or 2 and you will need a bunch to make your streets look alive. DSC01472 by Scott Roys, on Flickr Thanks for posting your progress!
  13. Mortesv: No, I have not built the shuttle, Slave 1 or the TIE's. I wanted to keep true to the ESB closing scene for now. Yes, it would look super cool to have a mighty fleet of every bodies builds. Just come on over to the States and I'll be happy to meet up with you at any Lego event! One thing though, there will be only one Corvette if SOMEBODY doesn't get some form of those plans done! If anybody wants more details on the travel case, send me a PM and I'll answer the best I can. (By the way, the Neb holds up fine with just 2 supports and the front foot mod adds a lot of stability.) Here are some shots from the show. Not a lot different from your setup but all pieces traveled very well and set up was pretty quick. DSC01767 by Scott Roys, on Flickr DSC01766 by Scott Roys, on Flickr Yep, That's me. DSC01755 by Scott Roys, on Flickr Just noticed the drooping stab vane in this picture. Untitled by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  14. The Neb survived the trip very well! The bridge fell off and one other piece of greeble that I could not identify. Trying to get some pictures posted but am having technical issues.
  15. Yes, my three GR-75's and a dozen fighters are going along too. Just one thing missing........ If all goes well, I'll post some photos of the set-up. If it's Watto's scrape-yard, I'll post a picture of that too! Hopefully all my over-building will pay off with a nice public display. I am not expected any problems with the rear section expect the back engines. I'm sure some of those will fall off but that is minor. Next spot of concern would be the stalagmite panels. Will see! Thanks to all that had a hand in making this a reality for me. Could not have done it without ya'll!
  16. I've got a small comicon tomorrow and I'm going to take the Neb. Hopefully! To transport, I built this case. Proof on how successful it is will come tomorrow when I open it up. The packing is fiberglass insulation which wasn't my first choice but it had the right balance of sponginess and firmness. 17. That's a fun little creation. Great job! How old is Steve?
  18. That's a good looking Y-Wing! It's amazing the variations you can create with something so diminutive and such a small piece count.
  19. You basically answered your own question. When the two 1/2 cylinders that form the two bottom engines fall off, it's a lot easier to put them back on if you can take the top off and rotate the "Vee" sides away from the body. Azrielsc: Yes, mine is a plate higher now too. One thing I didn't mention about that top plate is that I put two 2x10 plates on top to bridge the larger plate joints. You can see one partially exposed in the below photo. You will never notice the added height once the details are on and they make the whole unit A LOT sturdier. DSC01743 by Scott Roys, on Flickr Here are photos of the exploded A and Y wings. If anybody wants LDD files, shoot me a PM with your email address. On the Y-wing, I am considering cutting the 3L "Arrow" a little shorter to remove that exposed section between the neck bracket and the technic 1/2 pin. This would improve the appearance a fair amount but the purist in me has thus far prevented this "illegal" action. DSC01747 by Scott Roys, on Flickr DSC01745 by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  20. I now have some fighters to protect my fleet! The X-Wing and B-Wing are pretty much the original design but the A-wing and Y-wing were extensively rebuilt. I wanted a wind-screen on the A-Wing and the Y-Wing bothered me with it's squared off nose. I think that end results is that the ships are probably a tad bigger than they should be but I'm happy how they look and they are pretty sturdy. 21. That is a superb rendition of my favorite Star Wars fighter! I'd ask the inevitable questions about LDD plans but I'll bet there are many "illegal" techniques that would make that impossible. Again, Well done! and thanks for sharing.
  22. I'd take them in any form! I just need the general idea to get started.
  23. Hate to nag, but any progress on the plans for the Blockade runner? The 10198 just doesn't look right up next to the Neb.
  24. That is a lovely little boat but it looks like the back should be a couple studs longer to match the source material. Great job on the design!
