  1. The foot joint was elevated so that I could fit in a 1x2 brick with pin hole. With that brick, I could pin the feet to the base which helps keep it stable while posing. I also added two 1x2 plates with slide rail to either side of the shovel to help fill in that area. DSC01385 by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  2. I have completed a pair of Anothergol's fantastic AT-ST. Thank you very much for posting the instructions. They look right at home with Cavegods AT-AT! As I was building them, I did make a few small mods, mostly on the feet and the guns. This display will be at NCLUG's Lego-Palozza this Saturday in Chapel Hill NC. Come on over! 3. I was just wondering the same thing. I placed an order on 4 Jan for plastic track and have not received any shipping info yet.
  4. Not much of a fan of the Micro/nano craze but.....WOW!!!!! That's a lot of AT-AT in a small package! Nice work.
  5. Arrrrggg...Stop making improvements! I still trying to complete the original model!
  6. Those are great shots! Is there a Blue Render tutorial someplace. Is it is freeware or software for purchase? Do you import LDD instructions into it? Thanks.
  7. Still hoping to see some of those pictures if you have time to post them!
  8. Untitled by Scott Roys, on Flickr Months behind schedule, my new table is finally ready for action! It's now 12x10 feet (was 12x9) and the 10 foot sides are 4 ft deep (was only 2 feet). The 12 foot side is still 3 feet deep. Also new is the green painted surface. I took a old green plate to the paint store and looked at color samples until my eyes bleed. I am happy with the results and you can see it is a pretty close match. I also painted the border black which will look better once the black skirt is on for shows. Color matching green plates. by Scott Roys, on Flickr New this year will be an amusement park which will have a very special movie prop as the main attraction. Hopefully all rides will be motorized but the show is in 8 weeks so we will see how it goes. Untitled by Scott Roys, on Flickr
  9. Well I'll be darned. While not a true outside frame, that certainly captures the look and feel of the K-36! Those are some really nice looking trucks on that tender, too. Nice to see American equipment without the European wheel sets.
  10. K-28 perhaps? :-) As a long time fan of the D&RGW, I've often pondered the difficulty of building an outside frame locomotive complete with the signature counter-weights. If not had any brain-storms regarding that dilemma but it would have to be a very large model (I think about 10 wide) to run on Lego track and look right. Also, some 3d printed parts (like said counter-weights) would be necessary. Good looking coaches!
  11. One tip on battery boxes. Remove the outer case. That way the battery box will fit loosely in the space provided. It is MUCH easier remove from the tender and you will not have to go hunting for that jewelers miniature screw-driver (that is always in a continuous state of "lost") to swap out batteries.
  12. You might be waiting awhile. Lego Pick-a-brick (PAB) orders are shipped from Europe and are notoriously slow - 4 to 6 weeks has been my experience. You should check out Target and TRU. They have (or had pre-Christmas) 32x32 base plates on the shelf and are the same price as Lego ($7.99). One thing to note is that the new plates you receive will be a different color of green. Your currently using "green" but Lego has switched to "bright green". Hope this doesn't mess with your plans! http://alpha.brickli...[baseplate]#T=C Looking good!
  13. Here you go: http://www.eurobrick...st#entry2325717
  14. Looks good! Now you need to work on your tie spacing so that your track looks as good as the scenery! Here's some thoughts I had. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=114378&hl=
  15. That is quite an introduction! Did you figure out how to add a third truck on the Shay? I built Stephen's excellent shay and wanted to do that but the way he's got the pivot point situated makes it rather impossible. Will you post LDD's anyplace, particularly the Mallet?
  16. ^ What is a "gubbins"? Not familiar term on the other side other pond!
  17. ^ I cannot claim design credit. It won a contest hosted by Railbrick last year and the designer graciously let me have his LDD files. He designed the entire train and it runs very smoothly. The battery box and IR receiver are located in the log.
  18. Farmer Harv: I like the new track plan with the double loops. Trains can now access all parts of the layout and there are no "dead" areas. The one thing I'd do is get rid of the three spur tracks that are not part of the yard area. This will free of space for building and scenery which are as interesting as the trains themselves. Here is my layout which is just two simple loops and a decent amount space of other stuff . One loop is Power function and one is 9 volt. For reference, it's 9x12 ft. DSC01071 by Scott Roys, on Flickr By the way, nice Steiger! is that yours? I remember when as a farm kid from Iowa when those first came out in the 70's and thought then were the coolest tractor ever. I wonder if Lego makes enough sand green bricks to model it?
  19. Detectives Office has an orange tabby in it too. Same cat as the Santa's Visit set I believe. http://alpha.brickli...lor=68#T=C&C=68 If you cant afford the Modulars right now, grab this set that has the same kitty and some great parts to detail your current modulars. http://shop.lego.com...Listing=listing This is a fun set too. Currently sold old but easy to find on the after market http://shop.lego.com...Listing=listing And this associated poly bag: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?id=123618#T=S&O={}
  20. I built this back in 2013. You would have a hard time keeping under $1000.00. Piece count is around 6200.
  21. DSC01354 by Scott Roys, on Flickr This years tree is up and decorated. I would like to "Christmas-ize" the logging train but that may not happen. Enjoy!
  22. I, too, thought that this was just a made up vehicle and a rather dull one at that. Very nice representation and a welcome addition to any Hoth display. Love the rest of your models to include that brick-built Taun-Taun! I'd be very interested in any LDD files you may be willing to share.
  23. Love it! This may inspire me to get busy on a Nativity of my own. Something I can add to each year.
  24. ^ The Emerald Night's color scheme does not make for a good tree train. That was the first train I had in the tree and it all but disappeared due to the dark green color of the engine!
