42078 - Mack Anthem
Andy D replied to AndroTech's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am still on the fence. This is a very, very good looking model, however it appears that the only new function is the container crane and it doesn't appear to be as complex as many Technic functions. I will wait for the reviews to see the functions available. Andy D -
Technic 2018 Set Discussion
Andy D replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Is the Mack Truck really a first half set? To me it looks too large for a first half set. All that said, it looks great, I really like the cab, I like the colors and the functions look interesting also. I will have to see reviews, but so far, it looks like a buy for me. Not really interested in the other three (I need to slow down on LEGO purchases, running out of space and time), but the Mack looks great! Andy D -
Very nice! The functions are outstanding! I am very impressed with how compact it is. The subtractor is very nice, the subtractor your design yours? Andy D

Very nice compact Excavator! The pneumatics look well thought out and are a good solution for the functions of the MOC. I believe it would have been much harder to use Linear Actuators to accomplish the same functions if it were even possible in such a small size. You should submit it to Rebrickable, I believe it would be well received and in demand! Overall, great MOC! Andy D

[MOC] Out of the Frying-Pan into the Fire...
Andy D replied to TheLordOfBricks's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
This is quite nice! Great landscape, great trees. Do you have any high-Rez photos of the trees somewhere? I am very curious about the tree construction. Andy D- 6 replies

Here it is... Is it wrong to cut a Giant Sequoia to use as a Christmas Tree? P1010128 by MyPlasticBricks, on Flickr Not sure if this guy can do it anyway, but he does have ambition! Andy D

Looks good! The Anniversary Chassis is one of my favorites for 2017. I noticed that you had to use 9L beams in the rear, instead of the 7L beams in the model. I'not sure I can see where you used the 5L lift arms on top. Is the overall model longer now? Looking forward to the LDD so I can see your solution, maybe I need to revisit the Chassis to put some of the mods You and @Seasider did. Andy D

@Void_S yeah, it was funny to see how Mr. Reindl kept "throwing" parts together, I just have not been able to assemble LEGO like that. I would be very interested in seeing a PDF instruction for this model, let me (us) know when it is available. I'm sure more folks would like to build this, but I have read that some feel that assembling via the YouTube video would be too difficult for them. Andy D

New in-depth Ultimate "LEGO Storage Guide" (Free guide!)
Andy D replied to henrysunset's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Very good, it looks like you have covered just about everything we've covered here on Eurobricks, but a nicely organized format! The only thing you left out is using Glad Entree storage containers. I use just about every type of storage container you mentioned, plus I also use the Glad Entree storage containers and Sterelite 15 quart storage bins. Good job! The ruler you included is nice and the only one I have seen that has the Technic Angle connectors. Is your guide going to be "Online only" or will you have a PDF with hyperlinks to some external resources you mention? Thanks for all your hard work! Andy D- 8 replies

Very impressive! Great scale, great sturdy construction. The use of pneumatics is really outstanding, it shows what can be done with pneumatics with determination. Andy D

I also noticed a thread in the "General LEGO Discussion" area of that has the same problem, the topic is "The Death of LEGO Investing". And a thread in LEGO Town "Creator Winter Village + Friends Snow Resort?" seems more widespread than just community. Andy D

I just noticed that the post count does not seem to be incrementing. How I noticed this is a thread with a new member and in his exchange the post count is stuck at zero. Also post by other long-time members are not incrementing either. Is this a new feature of the forum? Andy D

Amen! I can' tell you how much lego I got let go of. My only consolation is that I hope someone else got much enjoyment of my previous collection. My new collection is not going anywhere. Andy D

If anyone thinks they are too old for LEGO, have a look at this thread... We have folks on Eurobricks from 18 to 80 and no one is "too old for LEGO". It is all about balance, LEGO is a great, artistic hobby, but everyone, especially younger folks need balance. Andy D

Need ideas, need ideas, just thinking, just thinking... Look forward to this all year, thanks CopMike! Andy D

I was just looking at the 41323 Chalet today and I also think it has a Winter Village feel and the set looks like it could fit in as well. Although, like you, I think some color change would help. Andy D

Thanks @Littleworlds, I enjoy putting this together and improving it each year. I use ideas from my Halloween display to improve my Christmas display and visversa. In Just a couple of days this will be disassembled and my Winter Village for Christmas will take it's place. Andy D

It’s Halloween at the Count’s, and you know what that means… Party time! All the Count’s friends really enjoy the party, but the villagers (as usual) think there is too much noise and revelry and they weren’t invited (again)! So while the Count and his guests enjoy the evening, the villagers storm the castle! Other people of the village are thought they that when the word was passed that all villagers were going to storm the castle, they would put on a little show for all passing villagers. Off in the distance the witches are cooking something up (who knows what?) to celebrate Halloween. Over at the cemetery, the ghosts are meeting, the undead are rising and the Halloween dancers are doing the Thriller Dance. Each year I try to improve it. This year I put everything (including the castle) on modified MILs modules. This makes it easier to run the wiring for the LEDs and just generally contains the whole scene better. Also this year I enlarged the cemetery (a little) and connected it to the main scene. I hope you like it, and Boo! Andy D

I like th Bakery better, size wise it fits into the village better. The cottage got banished from my village, just too large! Just MHO, YMMV, Andy D

Unfortunately I do not believe there is *One* perfect LEGO storage container. I use several different containers in my system, each has a purpose. I use stacking units like the Akro Mills units with different size drawers for different type pieces, I use Plano boxes for most of my smaller Technic pieces (gears, pins, axels etc.) and I use 15 qt Sterelite containers with plastic baggies and Glad entree size storage containers (inside the 15 qt. containers) for other pieces. What you have is a good start on making multi-size, multi use containers. As others have said they would be more versatile if they were stackable and clear. Clear is a big advantage so you can see what is inside. Also, looking at your containers, I think $3 to store 4 tires is pretty expensive. IHTH AndyD
