Very nice! I really like this. While you are correct that it might be a little larger than the other Winter Village sets, I think it can fit right in and the openable buildings would be better as the Winter Village sets than the official open back buildings. I don't really care for open back buildings, but your openable building has the best of both worlds. Good luck in the contest! Happily New Year Andy D

Need Help Building 4x4

I second the suggestion to get Sariel's book. Also there is a great thread on steered driven and independent suspension at http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=90603 Also http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77772 Happy New Year, Andy D -
There is a lot of discussion on the toysnbricks forum. They discuss lots of things to do with LEGO investing. There are lots of pitfalls in LEGO investing. All it takes is one dishonest purchaser with a chargeback to eBay or PayPal and away go any profits, along with your initial investment. Be very careful about getting into LEGO investing. Very nice, looks like a good addition to the Winter Village theme. But, but as a business I think they will have a hard time with only one cow and two goats. Talk about overworked! Happy New Year, Andy D

Make a line of sets with a total 4000 parts, then if you buy all the sets you can build each individual set or one model with all the 4000 pieces. I would buy 2 copies so I could have each individual set and the mega set. (Whoops, based on standard pricing that would be $400 or so for all the sets and $800 or so for my commitment, but, oh well) Andy D

Very. Nice! It really fits in with the theme of the Winter Village. I really like all the little details, like the hats on the posts in the front, the topper on the post in the bedroom and the head board on the bed. Good luck and Happy New Year, Andy D

I really like this and I think the business fits in perfectly with the Winter Village theme. Who doesn't appreciate a steaming cup on a cold day? I would be a frequent customer (if I could handle the cold in the first place). Good luck and Happy New Year! Andy D

What set's to buy for parts?
Andy D replied to ttoks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
In addition to the sets mentioned (great parts packs all!). I would also recommend the 42037, 42038 and 42039 as good sets for parts for wheels, hubs, suspension and shocks. Andy D -
There was another thread describing this problem. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118387 TLG said it is because Duracell batteries are built with shorter studs than other batteries. Hmmmmmm.... Anyway, the last post in the thread points to a solution. Since the poster did not link to the fix, I have copied his text here... IHTH Andy D

Finished bags 1 yesterday, very fun build, interesting the way it works. Finished the bags 2 today, that gearbox is very interesting, I will study it quite a bit before continuing with the rest of the build. So far I have powered it up and I can see what controls what output. There is a lot to learn from this gearbox! I hope to incorporate some of the ideas in future MOCs. Oh well, bags 3 tomorrow! Happy New Year, Andy D

Welcome to Eurobricks... Quite a first post! Both the 42009 and the 42042 look great. I guess this is more possible because of only one function going rough the turntable. Great MOD I'm just starting my 42042 today, looks like it may take me 6 to 8 hours over 3 or 4 days. Happy New Year, Andy D

Opinion on Status of SBrick
Andy D replied to knotian's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I got the same impression... S-Brick just not ready for prime time, for me, maybe later. As for any modification of parts, I just don't do it. Part of the challenge, part of the art of LEGO is building (for me) within the confines of available parts. I usually try to build within the limitations of my inventory (not small, but I do not have everything) and try to find a work around within the LEGO System. As others have said, if someone else wants to cut, mold or mutilate parts for their own MOCs, so be it, I have no problem with that, it's your MOC, build it your way. But I can understand the "only official LEGO parts" for contests for several reasons, among them leveling the playing field for costs (not everyone has access to a 3D printer) and maybe if TLG is somehow involved they obviously would want only official parts to be used no matter the precieved limitations. Just MHO, YMMV, Happy New Year, Andy D -
Thanks for the update! Although I have yet to experience the problem and I use Duracell exclusively. But I will keep this in mind. For TLG, I believe that if they are aware of the problem it should be corrected there, as Duracell is one of the major battery manufacturers and I am reasonably sure that there must be a standard for batteries somewhere and lots of people use Duracell. Sounds like a design tolerance flaw on TLG's end to me. Happy New Year, Andy D

42038 C-Model - Snow Buggy
Andy D replied to Jonfensu's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is very nice! It looks like something that would be used in snow machine races. I gather that is what you were going for, it looks like a real "hot rod" snow buggy. Excellent design and use of panels (I really like the orange of this set). Excellent first (or second or third or fourth... You get the picture) Technic MOC. Happy New Year, Andy D -

[C-MODEL] 42039 - Winter Killer
Andy D replied to dokludi's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Again I say -- Beautiful! Thanks for the instructions. I just looked through the instructions, they are great! I believe I will learn a lot when I build this model. Wow! Merry Christmas, Andy D -
I had not thought about the failure to be build able. I've not had that experience, because I don't use LDD that much, lately I just don't use it unless I get an LDD from someone else to look at. Color vomit has become less of an issue for me for two reasons... 1. Either the MOC doesn't stay together long enough to become objectionable. 2. I order proper colored parts to replace out of color parts. I like to build, display is secondary, so color in a box doesn't matter. Merry Christmas, Andy D
