Welcome to the "Older Than Dirt" club. Well we have a couple of "Ladies",I think Legogal was the first "Lady" to join, and many of us who remember dirt very well. I find it great that there are so many of us here. There are also 2 members of the LUG I just joined (TIELUG) who are also senior Lego builders, though not Eurobricks members. Any more "Older Than Dirt" eligible members stand up and be recognized. Andy D Well, I don't know. We have one member who is over 80! Welcome...somebody please badge "Breakdown", pretty please. Thanks, Andy D

Grum's Shed

At first I had my doubts about this set, but it is starting to look interesting. Can't wait to see the BWE! I wil most likely not be able to start the BWE until sometime in November, so I look forward to living the BWE through you. Andy D -
Wow! Another older builder! We're taking over EB! It must be an older builder thing, because I also enjoy the process more than the final model. Since I don't have room to keep all my models assembled,I disassemble and store my favorites as sets and rebuild later. This is what I plan to do with the BWE. Andy D PS: @ knotian, if you want a lovely badge declaring that you are a senior builder and "older than dirt" go to http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89346&st=0 and announce your age and maybe you will receive a lovely badge like I have.

Very nice MOC! I think your photos are just fine. I looked at some on Flickr and on my iPad I can zoom in it them just fine. A better investment might be backdrop and lighting. I once heard that "The best camera is the one you have with you" with proper lighting even a modern smartphone camera can produce great photos. I think it's more about the lighting than the camera for many photos. We don't all need a $1,000 camera to take photos of our MOCS. Just MHO, YMMV Andy D

I understand that LEGO has just come out with a new rule forbidding the use of the Mini Fig on LUG websites. How will this affect non-LUG websites, like Eurobricks? Andy D

Excellent review! I had about decided to skip this set as just too large, but your review has me rethinking that decision. It looks like there are some interesting and perhaps educational subassemblies. So maybe I will rethink my decision and get this set. Darn you for such a great review, now it looks like my credit card is going to take another hit. Thanks again, this review was well worth waiting for, Andy D P.S. Is there anyway to freeze the color-coded distribution animation? Just when I start to study it, it changes. Thx.

Did I miss the review by Blakbird? Can someone give me a link? Thanks, Andy D -
Turn on the way (well way, way) back machine. I had a chance to buy a Lotus Super Seven, and didn't! Now I can get a LEGO Cartham, maybe I will buy this, maybe not. I am just happy to see something that reminds me of the Lotus Super Seven. BTW: Back then I think they only came in unpainted aluminum. Ah, the memories! Andy D

Buy two sets that you like. Put one together, part out the other. Andy D

It not only tells everyone that you are an "old fart" (like me) but you have proudly achieved "Older Than Dirt" status, which is not easy. Because it is easier to be young than old! I may enter this, I just need to come up with a non-vehicle entry. Andy D

My LUG is looking for a printer to do custom printing on a torso. Obviously we need a low quantity (25-50) or so. Any recommendations on reliable printers who will do low quantity? Thanks, Andy D

Very, very nice! I really like all the textures. Instantly recognizable structure. Andy D

I really like the train! I plan t get one or two. @mouseketeer... I really like your car with Santa and the Christmas tree, I might have to "borrow" that idea (hope you don't mind). Andy D

I just use Bricklink names and numbers. Instead of looking at four, you could just pick one and stick with it. Just MHO. YMMV, Andy D

Maybe it just takes me longer, but I finally understand the principle behind the steering. The front wheels always steer the same and the back wheels change according to the selector and the position of the linkage on the back wheels. It took me many views of the videos and studying of the photos of the linkage, thanks to both Jim and Barman. Andy D

Very nice mountain top village! The houses and rock-work show great attention to detail and look like they belong together. Andy D

Very nice! Lots of function in such a small package. You made the transition from studded to Studless very nicely! Andy D -
I like it. Now to figure out a way to integrate it into my Christmas display. I guess I'll get it then try to find a way. Andy D

Great review! Thanks for your attention to detail and point out the interesting sub assemblies (like the steering modes). I wasn't totally sure about this set, but after your review I think it looks like something I would enjoy. For me LEGO is more about the build and this one looks like an interesting fun build. This one just moved above the BWE for me. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, I like it that the same control activates both the forward and reverse direction of a function. It seems counter intuitive (to me) to activate a function in one direction and then have to switch the battery box to activate the reverse direction. Thanks again, Andy D
