42043 C-Model - Mobile Crane
Andy D replied to M_longer's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
This is a great MOC! Even better that it is a C-model. it looks like a pneumatic version of one of my favorite sets, the 42009! The instructions look very high quality! I am going to have to buy the instructions and build this. Thanks for doing this! Andy D -
I like the speed of the animation. It gives me time to se and enjoy the steps. Good job, looking forward to more! Andy D

Thanks for coming to this thread, but you should embrace your youth. Come back in 3 years and you will be banged up. It is surprising and neat that folks are coming back to be badged up. In my mind you and many others are honorary members of the OTD club. Andy D

I really like this. I agree with others about the very nice chess set... But, the chess set takes up 1/4 of the park. Maybe this is a Chess Park. good luck Andy D

Yes, that is good to remember. I do use quite a bit of Duplo for structure, much less expensive for some things. For height, I get four bricks high using two Duplo and they are much cheape than the equivalent volume of regular bricks. What I am using these 2x2 bricks and 4x4 plates is to make stronger base plates, like the MILs modules (Google LEGO MILs standard). They are expensive to make but strong. Andy D

I really like this! Micro scale builds are very difficult, some things you did are very clever (as usual), I find the way you made the train tracks really clever. The houses in the foreground and the trains in the background give a sense of size and distance due to forced perspective. More please! Andy D

New software by BrickLink - Stud.io

Sounds like a good idea. I hope it is easier than LDD to use. I have no interest in Beta a Testing but I will try it when it is available for general use. Andy D -

This is really great! Certainly easier to find a place to display and lots less costly. Andy D- 12 replies

Thanks for the responses. I took the easy out and ordered on BL. I might hav paid more, but I decided on 400 of each part and the charge (before shipping) is $66. Who can stack 400 2 X 2 bricks and 400 4 X 4 plates in 4 large cups or less? Thanks, Andy D

I am looking for opinions for best price. Should I buy from my local PAB wall or Bricklink. Here is what I need 400 of any color 2 X 2 bricks 300 of any color 4 X 4 plates. These parts will be used for under structure, never seen. On Bricklink I have seen these parts for 9 - 10 cents each, but then there is shipping which can be $15 or more. PAB cups are $17 each. Any ideas or opinions appreciated. Thanks, AndyD

This thread reminds me of a thread discussing using Oxy Clean and Peroxide and other methods to de-yellow LEGO. I have misplaced he URL and I can't seem to enter the proper s arch t Rams to find it again. Would someone with the info please post either the URL or the document describing e process? I think that would really help this discussion. Thanks, AndyD

A couple of things I like about this modular... 1. I really like the architectural nods to the previous modular buildings. I have all the buildings (except Market Street), so the nods to the previous buildings are really appreciated. 2. Someone said they didn't like the modulars because they look like Disneyland Main Street. This is on of the things I do like about the buildings is that they remind me of one of my favorite places... Disneyland. The buildings (to me) do not look cartoonish, just a nod to the past. I will be glad to add this building to my collection of the modular buildings. Andy D

Wow! Lots of new members. I am glad to see all the more mature LEGO builders stepping forward. We are a growing group. Does anyone have a count of how many OTD badges have been issued? As for the Erector sets... I don't remember the AC powered ones, but I had a huge set (or two). Plastic LEGO much safer for today's builders. Andy D

Most of us could just say that on any given MOC that inspiration came from Blackbrd, Crowkillers, Lipko, Marcus and a few others I have forgotten (I apologize in advance for any I have forgotten) and we would be pretty safe that no one was left uncredited. In fact, when you see anything I say is a MOC, just assume that all those wonderful designers inspired me and I may or may not have used some of their ideas. I didn't mean to steal, I was just trying to create something by combining some wonderful ideas and putting something of myself in it. I really feel that is what "most" of us do. Without those designers the state of LEGO Technic would not be what it is today! I hope to see many more creations by them that are an inspiration to us all. All that said I DO NOT approve of someone just copying someone else's creation and claiming it as their own! Just MHO, YMMV Andy D P.S. How could I forget Sariel, I look to him for many, many ideas (like many of us do).

I don't know how that quote got attached to my post...please ignore the quote. As for crediting other's work. I also think that credit should be given, but as someone else said... "How do you know who to credit?" Also, sometimes I may see something on YouTube, here on EB, even in official set instructions that I like, I will build a little subassembly and put it away for future inspiration. I may later see that subassembly again another MOC, set, whatever and remember it,then I may use this subassembly in a MOC, by this time I have forgotten where I got the idea. What do I do? i don't sell things, I am not seeking fame for my MOCs, it is just my LEGO hobby. I am thankful for all the information out there as it helps me enjoy my hobby. Andy D

Very nice Hotdog cart! I also like themed builds. Very good job making a Hotdog cart look like a Hotdog! Andy D

Very, very nice! I love the colors and the fantasy of the build. I am particularly interested I the tree elements, they look very realistic. Andy D

I think this describes my building. I try to make things look nice and being sturdy is important, but lining up slots and names on studs... No. Andy D
