Which site were you using for the hosting of the map again?

Help needed - rebricked UCS Y-Wing: question about dyes/paint
BrickCurve replied to gottabekd's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I think using an alternate part is a better option, as Hold0511 suggested. -
Is there anything I can do to help with the map? I am reasonably competent in Photoshop, so I am happy to have a look at it if you like, though I don't have much spare time to do much work on it at the moment. I don't know how best to send that size file though. Dropbox?

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
BrickCurve replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Correct, the colour most appropriate is blue as another guild uses red as one of their main colours so blue will avoid confusion. -
. Thanks! I look forward to seeing what you come up with- your builds have certainly inspired some of mine so it's good that it goes both ways!
-
. Thanks! Really glad you like it.

. Thanks for the answer! Certainly, 100 = better quality, but there is the convenience of (lighting dependant), of shooting handheld. I had forgotten DxO mark had lens info as well, I generally use DPreview, although it doesn't have as extensive test data, particularly on older lenses. I will try to condense what we have already mentioned a bit more. For optimum settings: (note, these are only really useful if you are shooting on a tripod). Aperture Priority, set f/8.0. ISO as low as your camera allows, generally 100-200. Shutter Speed, in aperture priority, the camera will choose a shutter speed that is (normally) appropriate to the image you are trying to take. You will have to fine tune it a bit though. Focal length, as Gideon said, 40mm will give the best results. My apologies as well for the thread hijack! Gideon and I really need to finish our photography guide...

Looks great! Adding some vines and extra texturing to the houses would really improve on how realistic they look, I think.

. Thanks. I am glad you like the micro ship, Imwasnt sure if the semi transparent effect I added it it in Photoshop was too much.

Thanks, the underground section was a first for me and it was surprisingly hard to fit the lighting in as well as the encased roof supports!

Great job! Very Nice use of the sand green on that building, among other great details. . Well spotted with that turban. I second the question!Re photo feedback. I don't entirely agree about the ISO, (640 according to Flickr), the quality is fine noise wise, not brilliant but certainly above average. There is some have around some of the white coloured parts I the build. I am not sure what that would be from. It could easily be dirt on the camera or lens, or some reflection from the light source you used. I actually never go above f/11 for builds of this size, I fact I usually use f/8 for models of that size, though the m43 depth of field is a bit different from APS-C. Using a longer focal length would be the main thing that would improve the photo quality here, I think as most zoom lenses offer their best performance around the centre of their focal length range, this does vary between types of zoom lenses though, generally the smaller the zoom range, 18-55 instead of 18-200 lenses will give you better results. Hopefully I wasn't too technical there!

[REVIEW] 70590 Airjitzu Battle Grounds
BrickCurve replied to Exetrius's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for the review! Those 1 x 3 slopes in sand green are nice, almost enough for me to by the set, almost but not quite. -
Thanks for the insights De Gothia!

Looks good. A neutral coloured background, or one added in Photoshop would really improve the presentation here.

Welcome back! -
How about having a semi transparent overlay that has the forest and mountains on it? That way you sort of get the best of both worlds. Why don't you post in each guild thread and ask an opinion on the colours. That way you will get the best response. I still personally support the idea of having the map like this one, , with added details like the MOCs and the info about a location viewable as you zoomed in. I wouldn't like to have a map which is just a colour overlay, a version like the one I linked above would be much more in keeping with GoH, I think.

Great job! The wall texturing is particularly standout. The photos are also excellent, some of them are so crisp they almost look like renderings!
-
Thanks. The banners were originally going to be used for the entire team, unfortunately they didn't arrive in the US in time.
-
Thanks. I am really glad they worked. They are quite fragile though.
-
Nice one. Adding some 1 x 1 slopes to the rocks would really improve them.

Great shaping on the caravan! It's a pity about the hazy photos. Was that an added effect?

What exactly do you mean by "what colours would be better for each guild?" I assume you mean the terrain colours? If so, I think having the entire map drawn up as it is, so no guild border lines and colours corresponding to the landscape on that part of the map. EG, beige for the deserts.

Great build! My personal favourite part is the wall design and texturing on the cottage. It all adds together for an amazing MOC!
