LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors

The thing that I really take ire with, is the way they just chopped away the entire franchise. That's not "cleaning it up," that's "throwing out the crown because you don't like the gems mounted in it". Now, if they had been more reasonable, and at least left KotOR, tOR:tSL, and SW:tOR in canon, I wouldn't be having as big an issue with it. -
Or, it could be that he wants you to think that they were trying to kill him. You never can tell...
-
Lind would definitely join, but I don't think we'll be done with 103# by the 12th...maybe if the quest speeds up and the sign-up gets extended for one reason or another.

Well, at least it'll be a nice parts pack, if nothing else. Is the island the same molded piece as used in the last one, or is it just some plates/baseplate?

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

A fishmonger would go excellently next to my planned docks. -
I'm a bit worried about the set list. Back when Exo-Force went into the Jungle, was right around when the sets began to lose steam* and be cancelled before the story was finished. Not saying that that's going to happen, but we should keep that in mind when we're deciding whether or not to buy sets because of price/content - this line might having severe impact on the future of the theme as a whole, and if it doesn't sell well, it may well mark the beginning of the ending of the theme**. *The first loss of steam really happened with the Golden City line, but Jungle didn't help any(despite the mini-mechs being a very cool idea.). **It's going to end someday or other, but Bionicle lasted a good 10 years before it ended. Themes don't have to be standard to be evergreen, just well-selling.

LEGO Ultra Agents 2014

If you're ever designing a villain overlord type, that's not tied down to a specific plot line(e.g., the Overlord would work perfectly, Pythor wouldn't, as he's been trapped in a cave for years). one really awesome call out you could include would be -
And yet, Power Miners costs way more on the after market than Bionicle does. Of course, that's more due to resellers seeing Power Miners as more of a niche item, and not worth stocking up on, so that skews the numbers, but still...

Um...according to canon...the ooze is actually(if you don't want to be grossed out, don't click the spoilers): So, there you have it. Have a complementary glass of Brain Bleach.

LEGO City Undercover is essentially LEGO Grand Theft Auto, sans "a certain female NPC job role"/violent deaths/non-comical violence in general. Also, you play through it from a cop's perspective, instead than that of a gang member.

Someone really needs to make a chart of how many gems you can have together that don't balance each other out, one light, one dark...

I think that the P isn't silent, but it is rushed through. The P in Corp, though, I do believe to be silent. "Puts on Canon Master cap" In regards to what it stands for, or how it's pronounced we don't actually know. There are two possible options. One, that it's short for Corporation. Two, that it isn't short for anything. Corp can be a term for a body of military, or a general catch-all for a "group" of people. My thoughts on both: One: The tribal structure shown as existing on the Mixel world does not give a very good opportunity for corporations to be formed, and if any tribe has become organized enough for that, it would probably be the Electroids, not the swamp-based Glorp Corp**. Two: This is the one I'm leaning on, as it fits both in with LEGO's naming strategy, and with point One taken into context. *Unlike the planets for Chima or Ninjago. **The most organized group is actually the Nixels, under Major Nixel.

LEGO Star Wars 2015 Pictures and Rumors
Lind Whisperer replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
In regards to the stormies: I get that "there are bound to be slight changes to the uniform...", but let's not forget one small detail. They are wearing mass-produced armor. As in, mass-produced. As in, "Hey, this is the cheapest style, let's make a bunch of them!" As in, not too likely to make any changes, simply based on cost. Granted, there will be minor changes here and there to the armor, like with LEGO parts, to improve and strengthen it, but not the radical design changes that Rebels is trying to pass off. It's not even as if there is a need for special gear. ANH and ESB both show stormies wearing the same gear in environments ranging from burning desert to atmospheric gas planet, with the only exception being the extremely cold environment of another planet. So, no, there just really isn't a reason to change the armor, other than trying to distract fans from the massive, and in many if not most cases unnecessary, cutting away of the canon, by trying to pretend that they are "honoring" old concepts by using discarded drawings. There's another thing that we have to remember. These aren't some sort of designs that didn't make the final cut because of budget, they were left out because their creator was still designing them. -
Here's an idea. Over in the Pirates forum, we are working on a proposal set line through our Ambassador. What if Eurobricks as a whole, or at least the Town forum, started a group proposal through the Town Ambassador for a brief "Town Shops" line? Here's what I'm thinking: Using previous sets, we estimate about how many bricks we can use for a $20-$30 set. We then set up a thread where we can suggest building ideas for different(e.g., not likely released any other way) shops. We have a poll on them, and select 5-10 of the best ideas. We then have a short contest where we each build our own take on them, using recently released bricks in legal but creative ways, and we then poll on which is the best, until we have all 5-10 buildings. Anyone else?

Interesting. I'd say that it causes the exact same problems for a reboot, if not more so(risking alienating the fans who really want to see the story continued). I do not have very many of the original sets, but if it's a continuation, all sets are a must buy. If it's just a reboot...collect one or two that I like the parts of, and take them apart.

LEGO Ideas Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to The Real Indiana Jones's topic in General LEGO Discussion
One other option for people who can't use POVRay is the brilliant LDraw plugin for Blender. It does take a bit longer to get everything set up - you have to build the model in LDraw, then import, then light it, add a background, etc., but it makes up for it in that it doesn't take hours and hours for a single render - a few minutes at most, the model loads from the chosen camera angle, and you have your picture. -
Nice! Excellent job URLing! Thoughts: It gives off a sort of tribal leader feeling. I'm guessing that this isn't the Mask of Life. Or if it is, it's undergone some major changes. It almost looks like a mask of the Great Beings. It has a very sort of 'elaborate death mask' air to it. Or it's just one particular mask for a character that we haven't seen yet that they picked for no significant reason(I'm inclined to go with this one). Either way, there is nothing about this that screams "reboot" more than "continuation."

True, there are effect-dealing weapons...but there are also quest options on occasion/consumables that can add effects to equipment. When you think it over, there are distinct benefits(and, I'll admit, a few drawbacks) to just having two pairs of weapons that are your sole focus for improving. Thanks for the recommendation - I'll definitely take Raider into mind again.
-
Speaking of advanced classes, if everything on 103# goes moderately well, I may be able to reach level 15 by the time we're done. I've been trying to figure out what advanced class Lind should train in. I liked the extra gold that a Raider can nab, but since Lind is sticking to throwing cards as his weapon of choice, the front-row stance doesn't seem to really work for his build*. I was thinking that Assassin would probably be the best choice. *If this were an MMOG, he'd be a ranged fighter. Edit: "Reads Dragoon bio" "Can only wield polearms..." I don't suppose there's any chance of ever letting them wield throwing weapons? I'd really like to be able to use the dragon PC I created, but Lind's throwing cards are sort of central to his character... Second Edit: On further thought, I realize just why Dragoons carry polearms. If I'm riding around on a dragon and wearing heavy armor it doesn't make sense to be carrying much else. I was picturing PC dragons as being about the size of small eagles, not ships.

Fake LEGO pirates : general discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to Captain Roger's topic in LEGO Pirates
I would not consider mixing them with real LEGO on principle, or buying them at all in general...but I have to confess that I have considered purchasing a single BSB ripoff. But I do have a good reason for this - it would be for a movie project, and a live-action fireship scene/sequence. Obviously no one would light an actual LEGO BSB on fire...but a cheap Chinese ripoff that looks exactly like it? I doubt too many people would take issue to watching one of those burn. -
Wow. That is one gorgeous map!

^Agreed. If it's 2015 Pirates to 2009 Pirates like 2013 Castle was to 2010 Kingdoms, there is no issue. If it's 2010 Kingdoms to 2007 Castle, though, we have a serious problem... Ah, well - at least it's a chance to get some new Pirate parts at a reasonable price point. Even if they're not "Pirates," they should still be worth collecting multiples just for the parts. They can hardly be planning to get rid of cannons entirely(although they're probably going to milk the stud-shooters too much). Cutlasses are almost certain, and so are flintlocks of both sorts. What I'm really hoping for is that we get a head rag in regular green again. The last appearance of that was in the Forestmen line/re-released minifigures of that line. If we got one of those, I will consider this wave a given success. I've been thinking over the ship from all angles, and I don't see how this could really fail. If it's modular sections again, we get more modular sections, which is a plus. If it's brick-build, (which it won't be at that price point), we either get a really bad ship, or we get an impressive try. Or somewhere in the middle. So, brick-built is the one to be concerned about. One thing that I personally would not hate at all, would be if we got a floating hull like the 2004 line. Sure, it's clearly J uniorized*, but you can actually float your ship. Which may not be a big deal to everyone, but I like to make my models as functional as possible, and there are only two ways to make a model float. Build it using non-LEGO materials, or with a floating hull. Whatever way this is released, I'm looking forward to it! *I'm not trying to throw stones here. It's from a line labeled 4+.
