    I have a question related to "Building Ships: Trade Runs, Raiding, and the Bounty of the Sea" For a vessel such as a Catamaran or a Cog....which has a rating of 0 for guns and Crew.....Does this mean she has no crew? or less than 5? I can see no guns on a smaller vessel, but it seems you would need at least some crew to handle rigging and such...

    I really like the ambiance in the first shot, personally.... In general, I would suggest perhaps some artificial lights....they used to call them "Hot lights" but now that we have CFL's....they are not nearly as "hot" as the incandescents were. They are also no where near as "harsh" as flash lighting can be.... You don't need "photographic" ones, standard desk lamps do quite well..... I use a setup like this, with a ~48" sheet of white background paper just pinned to the wall.... (and, yes, that is my front entry door...I have to be sure the dog has done his duties outside before setting up....lol) Gives results like this.... I usually shoot with my iphone 5s.....and use the "snapseed" app to adjust minor variations in brightness, shadow levels, etc...it also has a handy "lens blur" effect which is great for blurring out background details and emphasizing your subject...

    Well, it seems that in a place like Bastion...other than local bribes and taxes.....any seafarer should be able to have a spot....I would think your build in Bastion is no different than any of the other faction building on non-faction lands....it could stand and earn until forced out or the appropriate tithe is paid to a the local lord or what not..... Someone correct me if I'm wrong...but seems pirate lands would be the "freetown" of this era and locale. (Plus...that would make for lots of nice raiding and piracy opportunities in The Nest of Thieves....)

Meeting with an OCTAN guy....and one of those Zoins...Zoids...Zoils...whatever....His antennae make me feel hungry....     This may have been covered in another post, but I cannot find it at the moment.... For the "Sea Rats," whom do they register their buildings and boats with....or is that faction unable to participate in periodic earnings from a property? I ask as it seems the other three factions have specific laws about a property being recognized...but was unsure about Sea Rats process for this...

    Ok...quick question..... For Backstory and "origin" purposes....is there any established canon on culture and/or landscape/climate, etc for the various other nation-states....i.e.: Pontilla, Moklei Empire, Tellvok, Salleek, Pan, Carno, etc? Perhaps this is "to be added later" in the history threads....but if my character or some of his crew were to be from one of these lands, I would not want to conflict with themes/styles that have already been determined.

    Perhaps they view the "merchant class" as parasites on society similar to the view of the Babylonians? As in....trade and bartering must occur, but use and manipulation of "market systems" and "speculation for profit" would be considered rude or dishonorable activities...
