"Vedauwoo joins the Alliance" (early days) 1 -> "Some New Equipment..." 2 -> "Koga che pankpa - Panksta Hunto" 3 -> "HV-37 test flight" ===================================================== [begin Transmission] [Type - Alliance Mission Log] [security - High] [Report from: Vedauwoo (Pilot) {VK-23}] [Location: {Classified}, Imperial Frigate "Suprosa"] "I have a bad feeling about this.... We have just left the Commander's briefing (He insists we call him "Josh" but that seems a bit too informal to me...) and apparently we have a new mission....to transport several squads to an imperial frigate called the "Suprosa" for an assortment of missions...." "Here's the rub, we've been assigned a VK-23 "Freighthopper" lovingly called "The Worrt" for the task....I dunno if it's to surprise the imperials....or perhaps it's some sort of cover....But, it's an ugly son of a bitch..." Originally, it was some sort of Republic shuttle, but it's been modified for quick transit of freight between starcruisers....thus the "Freighthopper" designation.... Commander "Josh" has come down to personally supervise the load up... It's my first chance to meet a few of the other operatives...."Wick" Is apparently quite the adept slicer..and has a crew of varied species...I always enjoy a chance to speak Rodian or Ithorese...though I can't master "Stereo-speech," so my quips come off a bit flat.... Zaael is another story....seems like a very likable guy...but so far, has been all business, so I've tried to stay out of his way. That being said, I look forward to learning more....he's obviously very skilled, as his crew has been assigned the assault on the main computer core. Before long, the bulk of the pilots arrived to help with the assault...Seeing that many of the starfighters were bogged down in maintenance with retro-fits, they had nothing better to do...and, after all, we pilots can be creative in a pinch! It was beginning to get quite crowded in the TG-8.... Our last Mission specialist, "Monty" had perhaps the most difficult task of all...he would ride in strapped to the frame of the transport, in a pressure suit! We are to drop him right outside of the landing bay doors, where he plans to make his way along the exterior of the ship to sabotage equipment....with nothing but a mag-gun and Thermite charges! I watched as he skittered across the ship plating and into a special harness installed over the forward landing struts... At the last minute....the Commander decided to join us to watch over the assault from the TG-8's computer console. After ascending the Cockpit gantry, I verified Monty was strapped in.... He had the steely look of determination about him. I strapped in and began the take-off check list.... The port turbo-laser turret was having a few moto-location issues, but that wasn't a biggie....we don't expect much of a fire fight on the way in...and on the way out? Well, that's where "The Worrt's" triple "Duo-Ion Emancipator" engines would come in handy....load power equals speed with nearly no freight..... Once the engines were powered up, Captain Zeeb and Norven guided us out of the hanger doors....here's hoping everyones' missions are successful.....we are truly a little "in over our heads" on this one.... [End Transmission] ============================================================ Thanks for viewing! May the Force be with you!

Well, the idea was to find what other builders had done for this planet and make something similar...and not totally off the wall for the "canon" in the game so far... I should have credited for the critter, and usually do...as you can see in my "What comes around, goes around...." post...I just overlooked that in my haste to post. Perhaps some rule clarification is needed, as we head into the "time switch" competition....the way I had read things, I was encouraged to follow some of the existing "lore" of others' posts. I will certainly edit and include references for said "lore" to insure no one is offended.

Location: B06 - Sorn Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle (er...sea vehicle??) {MANTIS MissionLOG Archive G-32} {Encryption: Light} {Priority: Low} [begin Log entry] It's a foggy morning on Sorn....I've been going over some regular maintenance on the K-8 GEV. We had a flame-out on Engine 3 yesterday, so I adjusted the valve guides in the secondary intake buffer. We were dispatched here a week ago, but only retrieved half of our assignment transmission....so we don't really have any "official" orders... Verdi has taken quite a liking to Fishing.... We have quite a yummy catch so far... The Alexyev K-8 is a Ground Effect Vehicle....looks alot like an airplane, but only skims the water's surface.... Four Ion-Jet Turbines provide all the power one would need....and Fry up the Fish in the process! The fishing Rigs and Bouys are optional extras, but Acct. Long seldom checks the actual invoices for equipment.... Ved: "Verdi...I've got the engines running, but I'm showing no movement....What did you adjust last night??" Verdi: {Rustling sounds, cracking noise} "Hey....Captain...this is great hootch!" Ved: "One moment Dr. Palmer....wait?!?! What? Hootch?" Dr. Palmer: (Slurred) "Yeah, flom the clate up flont......." *falls down* Ved: "Um......That's Octan J-47z Engine Cleaner.....See how the intakes shine? I've been working on that all morning!" Ved: "Oh wait...the fog is clearing, finally. I think I see the problem...." "We appear to have run aground in a tiny island......" =========================================== Thanks for visiting!

[SoNE Freebuild 9.3] Pilot record: HV-37 early testflight
Vedauwoo replied to Vedauwoo's topic in Nar Eurbrikka Archive
Well, it is supposed to be a "swamp" ...so I went for a lichen-y flatness....there are grassy humps at the tree bases though....for you bump landscape purists! lol I often think I have some sort of "Chinese" grass from the pick-a-brick....they don't like to cooperate close together...admittedly, I was a little lazy on my spacing...especially on that front edge... Thanks so much everyone for the kind words... -
I am a professional photographer...but that really is just a fancy way of saying "unemployed in my field of choice"..... I also have dabbled in film and lighting since I was about 6 years old....that being said....anything can work...you don't have to be fancy....creativity often comes from unusual sources and/or adversity! Anyway...Here's what I use.... As you can see...this is inside the front door of our apartment...lol, simple push pins to hold the paper...and sandals to keep it from rolling up.... It's a 53" (or 1,36m for the non-backward countries) sheet of seamless paper I got from a local photo shop 5 years ago... apparently, it was $24.99 then.. It can accommodate some fairly sizable builds... The bulbs are standard 60 watt incandescents....and my camera is the iPhone 5s.... The standard "camera" app does all the ISO, Aperture and color correction work....but if I need to set a specific setting, I also use the "Manual camera" app...which allows me to freeze any and/or all settings to a specific value. I also own a Canon 50D, but find the iFone does amazingly well in a great deal of situations.... I just generally overlap the lights on the subject, and shoot handheld... On this shot I used a card to shade the back and moved one light to the side For this shot, I was on the back deck near sunset....the dramatic angle and harshness of the light really mimic the feel of an asteroid or moonscape: For editing/adjustment, I use the "Snapseed" app.....I can't remember if it's free or not...and the app store doesn't show me now that I own it...lol, but I think it's free or less than $5... It has "Tools" and "Filters" that work with a swipe... Other than the Brightness, Ambiance, Contrast, Saturation controls in "Tune Image," I often use "Lens Blur" and/or "Vignette" to focus attention or intensify the mood: In "Filters" I find HDRscape can add an atmospheric feel....reminds me of humidity: Other than that....I use Photoshop to resize images to 500 or 600 pixels on the longest side....and photobucket to host the images. Hope that helps someone....somewhere.....

--NOTE: This is a build for Week 22...submitting now as I am heading out of town for a bit...-- Location: E01 - Donwaar Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Exploration I'm on a solo mission this week....on the Strange planet "Donwaar." I've been asked to gather samples of a strange yellow rock found here: Tough, I am not completely alone....I've attracted the interest of a local critter of some sort... On this mission, I am driving a GAZ-91 "Manticore" Utility Transport Walker: It has a great pair of articulated arms for loading up samples... After all the excitement of the past few missions, it's nice to be able to take it easy for a bit... ============================================= Thanks for visiting!

Lovely Ship! and a nice loader to boot.....on top of that, the spaceport makes me think of the good ol' "Galaxy Explorer!"

Location: H03 - Kaalin, "Halliburton Plateau," Northern Tundra Reaches Tags: Building, Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Spying ===(The following was found on the HoloWEB... Sources state that Herod Assange of the so-called "Wiki-Truth Network" obtained an intercepted classified transmission to MANTIS Corporate...)=== {Begin Log Transmission} {Attn: **Classified - For Your Eyes Only**} "Computer, label log entry "classified" and file accordingly...." Well, another log, another story.....we've received our first espionage assignment....MANTIS Fleet systems has moved us and our gear to the other end of the Andromeda Expanse....our mission: "Find, observe and disrupt OCTAN activities and installations on Kaalin..." In other words..."Agitation." We are on the "Hallibuton Plateau," near Cheney Flats.....You can see for Kilometres here....so flat.... Corporate suggested we disguise ourselves as a merchant caravan....so the MANTIS Engineering department came up with some variants on local transport....the Land Barge or "Brahndo" in the local dialect, is the workhorse of Kaalinese Traders. It's powered by Cyber-horses..and supposedly better for the "environment." Ours is decorated with the Stuffed head from our last hunt, thanks to a stopover on Torresta...turns out the meat was high in Awesomnium, thus the radiant purple colour.... Water is kept in the undertanks, and directly injected into the Horses' Cyber-cores.....all in all, a smooth ride for unpredictable terrain. "Hold up...something on the horizon. Looks like an OCTAN supply depot of some sort...." "Yep....We've got two goons out there....one human...looks like a "Beiber," and a helper-bot..." "We need some sort of diversion.....something to draw them away from that base, I'd rather not have to take out personnel if we don't have to...." "Klaus.....Verdi, I've got an idea...." OCTAN Worker: "What the Hell.....Hey, Deeten, is that what I think it is?" D-10 Labor Droid: "It appears to be a botanical equestrian, sir...I have no references for such an event...**Error code 15, please contact the OCTAN Corporate Droid IT department to request droid maintenance, form 8410-F will be required, as well as a class 7 OCTAN ID chip........" OCTAN Worker: "Yeah, I get it...you've never seen a plant ride a horse either....shut up about IT...that's your answer to everything you don't understand..." "Hey....er...PLANT! What're you doin' on that horse??? Can you hear me? Do you have ears???" "Hey! Wait!" "Come on Deeten......, let's get those power cells put away and find out where that freaky thing is going....." "Gee, Deeten...I hope we remember to close this access hatch....it's the only thing protecting the power cells underneath this cap....." "Load up....we gotta catch up with that...what did you call it.....Botanical Equestrian?? You are one whacky droid, Deeten..." D-10: "Please sir....I really do need my periodic maintenance...." OCTAN Worker: "Enough with the "periodic maintenance," You're like a broken record....." D-10: "What is a "Record," sir...and how does it being "broken" apply to my situation? **Error code 26, please contact the OCTAN Corporate Droid IT department to request droid maintenance, form 8410-F will be required, as well as a class 7 OCTAN ID chip........" OCTAN Worker: **Sigh** "Why can't you be as dependable and trouble-free as the PK-6 Crew Wagon?" Klaus moved in to recon the area and make sure all OCTAN personnel were clear.... After getting the all clear, we brought in the convoy.... Joining us for the Op today is Tactical Specialist Laura Palmer....an expert with explosives...her ride today is a traditional Kaalinese "Dhorvyn" or "Horse sled..." The explosives and detonators were kept separate during transport, for safety.... We quickly set the charges and prepared to depart.... Tac Spec. Palmer triggered the explosives once we found cover at a safe distance..... We are now headed for rendezvous point 54, please relay our progress to the fleet coordinator. {End Transmission} ================================================ Thanks for visiting!

53 to Big Sal, please....

I don't think so....

So, I take it that we have to wait until the "commander" player volunteers? Or is there a set "commander" for each fleet that we should send build ideas to?

I think it is these...
