  1. so, quick question...are "Freebuilds" only scored during an Episode? Or can I submit Freebuilds (up to 4 of course...) for Episode IX until Episode X begins?
  2. Pilot Vedauwoo reporting for duty aboard the Redemption.....
  3. Nonsense.....your builds rock....I mean, Animal tree....Genius!!
  4. I love those....what are they...?....siamese 1x4 plates? Just love 'em! Nice build too!
  5. Downright Spectacular!!
  6. Do you have a LEGO Store nearby? The "Pick-a-brick" wall is a great way to stock up on basic elements for cheaps....outside of that...have a look at "Bricklink.com" I go on there and order 100 of this or that...spend less than $50 and end up with a nice supply of parts.... Another source it to check "craigslist" for folks selling off collections....you can also find collections at goodwill and thrift stores... Star wars sets are GREAT for Kawashita dark red.....so you may have more useful stuff than you think! Mainly Toys R Us and a TRU outlet here in Denver...Got 5 of 70706 for 3.98 each.... I think I found one or two at local Wal-Marts as well, you have to look in the "clearance" section of the store, if yours has one.
  7. Please transfer 80 credits to BigSal
  8. More good MANTIS sources.... Lime Green was also in all the "bug" vehicles from the Galaxy Explorers series....you can often find those on clearance still.

  15. Location: C10 - Marden Tags: Vehicle, Spaceship, Land Vehicle Finally, more work! We were picked up by the Oruvus and transported to the frozen world of Marden.... Our mission: search for evidence of Biomass near a formation called "The Icy Mountain..." Any samples we can collect are to be loaded onto a MANTIS PE-56 "Portable Elevator" that has landed nearby. Our new crewman (crewplant?) "Verdi" and I were to meet a "Captain Leeroy Jenkins" not far from our landing site... An RS-5 and a FC-2g Speeder were perfect for the environment...though Verdi's FC-2g had a slight engine problem... I couldn't wait to use my new "Icebreaker 4000" chainsaw... But, before I could get cutting, Captain Jenkins Yelled, "You don't need that...Looky here what I have!" It was a MANTIS Auto Blocker.....a device that can cut, extract and transport perfect blocks of pretty much any substance... Verdi and the Portable Elevator's crewman got busy loading up the PE return module. Captain Jenkins secured the cargo door and initiated the launch sequence... We headed back to our speeders as Capt. Jenkins secured the lander platform.... That's when I heard it...a voice yelling, "LEEROY JENKINS!!" It was an Octan Corp. Sniper! Before I could turn around, Jenkins was in his sights... I was too late....and in the confusion, the Sniper got away.... Then Verdi pointed out (in his [her?] vegtabley voice), "Hey, at least you got a new space suit.." He (She?) was right.....It was a good day after all! ============================================================================================ Extra Images.....I dunno how to do that "Spoiler" thing yet....so here they are... Extra shots of Ved's RS-5 Speeder: Verdi's speeder developed a bit of a misfire...: The Oruvus over the Icy Mountain: The Ice Cave: And...of course...Leeroy's Tool, the Auto-Blocker:
  16. Awesome....very nice shallow focus!
  17. Wow...love that truck...the red tracks rock!
  18. I use my iphone 5 for most shots....that coupled with something like "snapseed" gives you alot of versatility....and the iPhone camera can be very sharp and has great low light response. For lights, you can use anything....I use natural or window light often....using a "pop-up tent" will help you get that "seamless background" look.....the work lights posted above are great to use with the tents...especially with CFL bulbs now available in specific color temperatures....(old incandescent bulbs were often not all the exact same temp, resulting in yellowing or bluing from the lights...) I prefer the Canon line of DSLR's....for two reasons...... 1.) their L-series lenses are top notch....you likely won't need an L-series for LEGO photography, though 2.) STM Lenses.....these newer "stepping motor" lenses designed for video use, are value priced and capture amazingly sharp images....much better than the "stock" lens that came with my 50D If you choose a DSLR....I would recommend a more recent model....like the 70D, that will have better low light response and 1080p video...I love my 50D, but in some convention venues (Denver comic con, for instance) it really struggles with getting enough light.
  19. Thanks so much for the compliments....I must graciously thank my recent LUGbulk order for all the nifty parts I had to use! ....and of course, thanks to Peter Reid for showing me how many cool ways a "telephone" can be used....lol
