  1. That's one awesome Audi!! Will there be a video of this masterpiece?
  2. Yeah, Lego will never be able to keep up with the RC hobby in terms of speed because it would probably throw the price threw the roof and the motors would not be worth the research and development to the company itself. Anyway I have begun building my mini monster truck and I have used some of your advice. I'm making the truck with full suspension, with 1L motor on the rear axle, a Servo right in front of the rear axle (which is as far back as it can go), and a triple A battery box on top of the rear axle. So it will look kind of SUV-ish.
  3. So you may know from a previous topic of mine, that I am involved in the RC hobby as well as Lego Technic. However after buying a much more powerful RC buggy I have decided to try and find a easy way to modify an M motor for more speed and torque. I thought maybe if I bought a second extension cable and I connect one M motor to two rechargeable batteries it would give more speed and torque. Is this the case or do I have to do some internal modifications? Also so you can better understand what I want to use this for..... I would like to make a mini monster truck, about 8-9 inches long, but most of all I want it to be able to do wheelies from a standing start with a wheelie bar connected to some soft 6.5 springs to hold the wheelie. If you have any ideas please share them, thanks!
  4. Very nice! No one can resist a hamster in a scale Lego truck.
  5. Cool MOCs you've got going on! I especially like the movers truck.
  6. Here's a little color change, raised rear suspension, and a slightly different body design which includes a spare tire. Just a modification....but I think it gives it a more realistic look.
  7. Looks nice Pat! How good are the Axial Ripsaw 1.9 in. tires and where can I get the best price for them? Preferably under $50 for 4 tires.
  8. Looks good to me! I like that you used diffs because you can do some light off roading such as the video and have no problems whatsoever. Plus with that flexible chassis the wheels have an easier time staying on the ground. Can't wait for the final video.
  9. Great job! Must of taken forever to put all that fishing string into the model.
  10. Very nice all round! Can't turn down a well built Unimog. Can't wait for final video.
  11. Fantastic!! Performance and looks are truly amazing for this scale. This might even make me buy a second RC buggy motor.....
  12. Yeah I have made many small vehicles similar to this and I have run into some problems. First of all the smallest steering rack is way too small for the Servos 90 degree turn. Even the middle one is pushing it when using the suspension wishbones that I used. Those wishbones don't allow enough movement for that 90 degree turn because the hubs are very compact and can only turn less than 90 degrees. At least that is what I have experienced.
  13. Yeah I have that problem, but unfortunately the size of the steering rack can not really be changed a this scale or size due to the compact construction. Also thank you for the kind words!
  14. Thanks everyone! I am happy to let you know that a friend and I are working on creating a Youtube channel for both our Hobby-grade RC vehicles and my Lego Technic MOCs, so hopefully we will get it started soon. I am currently putting together some footage of my previous MOCs into their own videos.
  15. So here it is, my Baja Truck: It's good for indoor and outdoor use, and was built in about a day or so. Uses an L motor, Servo motor, Rechargeable battery box, and V2 receiver. More info and pics at my website. http://legotechnicunimog123.files.wordpress.com/2014/04/img_5869.jpg
  16. It's funny you said to use the 6.5L spring length wise, I was tinkering with this MOC this morning and figured out how to use that spring. The non-Lego one was annoying me because it would cause the hood to be pushed upwards and it looked a little weird. I will have a picture of the final solution on my website.....when I get to it.
  17. I would do that, but the problem is that to sustain a low profile body I used three blue rubber bands attached to the wishbones underneath. It works decently well, but with the added weight of the body it sags when going forward and pops up when going in reverse. Edit: Here's my solution: Rubberbands are still used..... And me compressing the suspension completely..... So it's not the best looking setup, but the wheels no longer rub with normal indoor driving (its raining out at the moment ) on the body. It utilizes an old metal spring I had in my basement. Works pretty well, might even convert the rear suspension to different springs before the final topic on this vehicle.
  18. Alright so I've been pretty quiet around here recently and I've felt a bit out of touch with the hobby since I have all my MOCs dismantled or just carcasses lying around. Last night I decided to start a small project which I'm pretty much finished with by now, but I finished the entire bodywork and didn't realize the wheels scrap the body when they are turned fully. Plus I used an odd suspension setup which makes it very plush and soft, causing the whole front of the car to sag and touch the wheels. I know it's not much that could be done, but I would like to here your solutions if any. Here's a little teaser picture: I will post a full topic on this MOC when the hood thing has been sorted out.
  19. Cool, I like the roll cage. Does it have any propellor in the rear or is it only the wheels moving it?
  20. Great job!! I've actually modelled this car before with the same wheels, but in a different scale. (was not posted here though) A video of this beauty would be awesome!
  21. I agree, black is always awesome, especially for one of these kind of trucks. I have to say the middle part of the chassis that connects the ball joints looks a bit weak or not robust, but I am still looking forward to seeing it perform in one of your great videos.
  22. Awesome! I understand why you put as many side panels as you did and I think it was a great effort to try and avoid gaps in the bodywork. I do this myself, which is why I have never produced a completed supercar as of this comment, because I find it tedious and after a while....boring. Anyway looks like a great car, looking forward to the video! Also, nice job with the photography.
  23. Thanks, I will work on a video as soon as possible. I still have to get a Vimeo account to put them on my website, just haven't found the time to do so.
  24. Thanks, it performs well. It has good torque and decent speed. The IR receiver has shown any big problem with being hidden, at most it might lose a bit of the responsiveness if your outside in the sun.
