OMG... My cousin found my old childhood Lego from the 80's...
emilstorm replied to BirdOPrey5's topic in Community
Lucky you The condition yhet are in keeps amazing me! Do you know how long they were a flower pot? -
Very good work! Those mudguards work very well with that front. And the interior is quite inventive!

I am not very much in to Lego films actually, so I couldn't tell you whether that is generally considered kosher or not, but for me it's quite ok, if it fits with the type of film you're making. For little short clips I think it's very much ok, but for "bigger productions" with a more elaborate story, I think it works best with a brick built background. For those little clips I would generally recommend making the view as little as possible. Actually it just strikes me now after watching your test films that you are covering a lot of space in your frames, and it may take some of the focus off the action. But I think the camera you are using is limited in how close you can get, and still have a decent focus. An other tip might be to place your camera as high as possible, that way your bear late kind of becomes the background. In any case, in my opinion, yes on the photo background, it's way better than a random wall :)

Nice truck! And cat:)

That's quite a treasure:) Unfortunately the sewers flooded my basement and the sewage got into a bit of my childhood stuff. I usually don't keep those sets assembled, but build my own stuff, but I had quite a lot of 12v train sets. If it hadn't been for the flooding, most of those were as good as new too. These bricks never cease to amaze me :)

That's a nice little shooting range :) I like the damage on the back wall, there are some lousy shots among those storm troopers :) -

AoM - Mill Phase I: In the company of wolves.

Really nice warg-mill I very much enjoy these kinds of scenes with a little bit of "everyday life". You came up with a very nice design for the mill, and i like the way you did the snowy terrain. -
Amazing creation! It has lots of very clever parts usage, and everything comes together to a very nice clean and smooth design.

That's a cool little scene! The path and trees are really well made.

This is a bit off topic: I don't have 25 minutes to watch the video posted, so my question is, what is a mechanical atom generator? Is it a generator built of atoms or something that generates atoms?

Once you start building do you find it hard to stop?

That helicopter is worth it :D Before I met my wife, I could definedly just sit there for a whole day and build, and forget to eat and everything else in the process. If I had any time at all to build these days I am sure I would fall right back into that. -
Welcome to the forum PJ! I think we grew up building the same sets :) mid 80's to mid 90's city and castle are still some of my favorite sets of all time :)

That looks amazing Very much like the real thing, and i think you nailed the color scheme. The front end is full of nice techniques, the only thing i would suggest doing different would be to move the head lights apart so its more like the real one. Tiny detail, and it would maybe mess up te edge a little. otherwise perfect

Some very interesting parts uage in both! I like how you did the air intakes on the BK117. And interesting sliding door technique.

Erasing printing on soft rubber parts

Thanks Joe, will have a closer look later I actually tried Coca Cola just for fun. When I was in the army we used to clean machine gun flash hiders in it, it was quite effective at that. But not against Lego print -
I just woke up from this one: I am in a giant supermarket, and right there in the middle of it is a giant Pick a Brick'ish setup with huge barrels of all the pieces you could imagine, on sale. I try to make my way there, but sure enough, for some reason the route I have to go over the roof of a building to get there. While I am struggling to get over some sort of fence on the roof top I can see sort of a reflection of people digging through the barrels on the house across the street, and all I can here is the classic sound of bricks being dug through and happy people chatting on about how cheap it is and how amazing it is that they have ANY piece there. I finally make my way off the roof and something happens on the stairs leading back down, that is a little unclear, but something about a grumpy little old man. I get to the buckets and all that is left is Duplo...

Wow, good result. Again I am surprised how good their condition is! I don't think your monorail will work though... :/ -
Discourage somebody from taking up LEGO as a hobby?
emilstorm replied to Paul B Technic's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Or just block him, he has bigger those involving his latest MOC, and as sad as his story is, you have to think very carefully about if YOU are the person to fix them. I speak of experience when I say that trying to take on such a task is something you should be careful with.... -
I do understand your fascination In reply to the first part of your post: I don't think it is likely that Lego's position in the world of construction toys will be threatened anytime soon. They have done a pretty spectacular job at developing their products from simple building blocks to now include video games, board games, roll playing type games and obviously their wide variety of themes in good old brick toys. And they have a broad appeal to pretty much any demographic group. As you mention there are copy brands out there with qualities in design and manufacturing ranging from utter garbage to Lego quality. From what i hear, the only ones that have had success in attempting to push Lego off the throne are some asian brands, but only on the asian market, and only because they are cheaper than dirt. It is my understanding that those brands that have gained a little share of the market in the western hemisphere are those that have licenses to produce video game themes, such as Megablocks' Halo. To my knowledge they sell more because of the Halo brand than the Megablocks brand. My conclusion is that I would not put money on any of these brand gaining any kind of significant market share in construction toys. To your other question about somebody coming up with the next new thing, I can only say That I cant imagine it happening. Maybe my imagination is just really poor, but I can not think of anything so drastically revolutionary that it is not already covered by good old Lego

I think it is brilliant! A nice combination of function and form
