  1. Might self-lock when over-centred, similar to some crane outrigger designs?
  2. Just leaving this here http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2009/11/19/54-wheel-drive-the-letourneau-electric-arctic-land-trains-that-put-australian-road-trains-to-shame/
  3. I can believe this could be true, but I've never seen any evidence of it at all. Seems like FUD to me tbh. Happy to be proven wrong. Re: pumps and L motors, to get decent performance out of pneumatics demands more flow than I've seen any official TLG motorised pump produce. Motorised compressors in official TLG sets are a waste of space and parts; they're great for marketing, but are negative for play value. . Replacing them with a hand pump is always an improvement. This goes right back to motorising the hand pump in the 8851 red excavator, and is still useless in the Arocs ~30 years later. [whining over]
  4. How about renaming the white clutch gear? o_O . "Gear that can no longer transmit any torque, and is buried deep inside the heart of an official set" would be a snappy name.
  5. +1, looks like a forwarder to me. B model might turn out better for play value, wouldn't be the first time Saw blade on the harvester probably has more appeal in the box art eh?
  6. Nice. Can you work the green in though? For bonus points. I have been drawing 37s in pixel art for games (OpenTTD), similar 'inspired by' approach due to size of pixels http://bundles.openttdcoop.org/iron-horse/push/LATEST/docs/html/trains.html#phoenix
  7. L motor just for compressor? Also is front axle pendular, or is it optical illusion due to cab rotation?
  8. Nah, I think colour is a valid poka-yoke. We're already in a grid based system with pre-fitted plug-in components. That's quite a long way from Kansas compared to actual metal-bashing. I know a couple of engineers who dislike the whole concept of Lego Technic because you can't bend it to fit, and you can't weld ABS. Well you can. But not with an arc welder
  9. I am potato/potato about most of the colour barf. Don't like it? Don't buy it. Bought it and don't like it? Rebuild it. I don't have the kind of insecurities that are threatened by a bit of colour coding in instructions. BUT that lime liftarm in the Chiron. That's just poor taste.
  10. Off-topic, but eh? Try building most any City set with more than a few pieces. Colour barf is standard.
  11. Rotary changeover catch That's awesome. Also my favourite piece is now in blue https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=92907#T=C
  12. You totally missed Team Longer Pneumatics and Team More Pneumatics. Also Team Why Doesn't My Realistic 5 Speed Gearbox Perform Well In My Rock Crawler Which Can Also Go 25km/h And Has Opening Doors.
  13. Eh, looking again. I'll put money on it that the designer was inspired by a John Deere colour scheme, but there's no arrangement between Deere and TLG, so it can't be solid green with yellow highlights. There are limited choices to go with green, so the upper half gets switched to lime. But using lime always means the lid is off the ugly box, so then 8 more colours get added to balance it out. Pure speculation but eh. Or maybe they just need to use up some lime panel inventory
  14. Definitely buying this. It looks terrible, maybe it plays great? Feels a bit like Technic crashed into a Creator Expert set. But eh, it's different, it's not just another car / truck / digger.
  15. 1 L-motor per wheel, direct drive (or just 1 pair of gears) Needs a switch to reverse one motor's direction mind. 1 battery box and one receiver will run up to 4 L-motors fine, but 2 battery boxes and 2 receivers performs better. Might not be the solution you need
  16. If you're 8, it's great. For adult, not so sure. It's on a par with original Technic Control Center I think, although the UI in Boost is much better
  17. Nice forklift. You might try a train remote? 7 variable speeds, about 15 Euros on Bricklink. https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?id=84664#T=S&O={"iconly":0} . Much more fine control than the bang-bang remote.
  18. False dichotomy, prioritise both In the pictures, steering angle looks ok, but hard to tell without actually swooshing the truck
  19. Impressive. I built a thing that hauled about 7KGs, but I think you could fairly call me a cheat
  20. Lego.com, in stock, $2.99 USD for the short one, $3.99 USD for the long one, also available in European prices.
