  1. Yeah, I fully understand and give him concession for that. But it doesn't make it right or wrong, and like I said, that was the impression that I got from the character portrayals, true or not.
  2. Here is a pic of them all together:
  3. Haha, congrats to SIMocs for his entry being good enough to win a prize this year!
  4. Built this set last night. Nice comprehensive review Cam, almost. You missed the GITD photo! I was a bit disappointed to see that you also got an extra mushroom head, I was hoping I was just lucky. Have to say that I really like the scenery build, it's all completely different parts & colours but it works. Here's a tip for avoiding the negative "repetitive building" feeling regarding the spiders: build them both at the same time. that's a risk, I'm sure. My impression from reading LOTR was that Tolkien didn't have a high opinion of women. True or not, most of the female characters were for looking at or scoffing at (eg the nurse at Minas Tirith or what's-her-face hobbit). Eowyn is the only real exception. It's the beards!
  5. Or Dol Guldur Architecture style sets might work for those huge buildings, good point. The obvious one you've missed is Orthanc.
  6. Built this set last night, I liked the different colour scheme from normal. Grey with brown is so common it's nice to build a structure in something else for a change. Pretty cool as a playset & display piece. The arch pieces have been around for quite some time, perhaps not been used much in new sets recently. One thing I will point out in case noone realised, the elven blade piece in included 3x, 1 is extra.
  7. Billy needs no mates nor vehicles because he's Flash Gordon, Speedy Gonzales, Neo, Roadrunner, Sonic the Hedgehog, the guy from Green Hornet etc. He can take 'em all out on his own with speed.
  8. This multi-use voucher is valid both for non-catalogue & catalogue items, but you do have to have a Myer ONE card. Not much in the catalogue of note except Duplo train set & Ninjago epic dragon battle for $149ea down from $199... using the voucher gets you a price of $134, not bad, especially since you don't have to buy 3 of them to get that much of a discount.
  9. Make more posts on the forum! You need to have made 10 posts before you can send a PM. I'm sure you can find something around here that's worth joining in the discussion for.
  10. I got the PC version the other day, wow, I love this game. Not sure about replayability yet, but first time through is a blast (so far).
  11. There is already a dedicated topic for buying from overseas online shops, so that this one can be dedicated to local stuff and not clogged up with discussions about Amazon or B&N orders. We* have received multiple warnings from staff - don't wanna make Sieggy mad!
  12. Was freaking out that my late preorder was going to be Elrond-less, but the game finally arrived yesterday. I opened the box while I was driving home from the post office I was so keen to find out. Polybag! Huge sigh. Can't really be bothered getting a different cape, I think the short one looks okay.
  13. Very surprised at the cost of the City sets! Dino has a lot of special large pieces, so that's fair enough. Star Wars we know has a premium price for the licence. LOTR has a high count of small pieces, so that is why it seems to be better value-for-money price-per-piece wise but I think as far as price-per-gram it would be higher on the list (or at least in the stats). Superheroes I would've expected to be higher, and then the other non-licenced themes below that, that is expected (with Friends slightly higher I don't find surprising). But I think all you've done is proven the original theory correct as a general rule, with an obvious exception (Dino) and also a curious exception (City).
  14. Fair query. Last we heard from him he didn't even have them yet, and I received mine from last year on the 12/13th of January according to Facebook, so highly unlikely to get them in time for Christmas. I recall him not reading my PM for ages too. Yeah, just gotta get out of eBay buyer mode and wait patiently .
  15. Peter Jackson himself considers the "extended editions" to be the "real" versions, let's hope TLG does too.
  16. Because the 3.5 - 4 hour movies are too long, don't-you-know, and a 3 hour movie isn't. I only watch the extended versions, all the extra bits are good & worth it. I have no problem watching a long movie so long as it's interesting. The ending bores me to death though. Press stop when the eagles pick up Frodo & Sam.
  17. 32. Toutouille - 2 points 3. DarthPotato - 1 point
  18. Pretty much, and we have every reason to be patient. Firstly, CopMike has to sort through all the minifig parts he gets sent to get each minifig together, then there's people arranging for swaps, so he has to organise which minifig is going to which winner, then after all that he posts 72 parcels all around the world at his own expense. Pretty good of him, eh!
  19. Like the one from 7094 King's Castle Siege?
  20. If this is true, I am (potentially) very pleased. But yes, probably Mouth of Sauron ( ), although Witch King would be awesome (but prefer a battle against Eowyn set). Hopefully more horses? Please? A white one? Please? "Hmmmmm, the halfling was dear to thee I see..." (evil stanky grin) Looks like we might be getting our corsair ship, I wonder if it's when it gets boarded or when it docks? (ie will it have pirates (including Peter Jackson ) or orcs)
  21. I figured as much. I hate exclusive-ness, so annoying. Spot on, haha! Yeah, so we're back to how it was in the 70s-80s period of multicoloured good guys: classic space & futuron. This time they got it right when they included A GREEN ONE. I feel a new avatar coming on soon...
  22. Tracking details of my current order: Event Date Event Time Event Detail Event City 11/29/2012 01:37 Shipment Tendered , 11/29/2012 01:37 Picked Up The url contains DHL & the page is all red & yellow... I don't think this is coming straight from NSW, nor is it Aus Post (yet). Time will tell as to whether it's coming straight to me or being repackaged & forwarded on.
  23. Don't compare prices to US, the whole rest of the world has higher prices than there. Helm's Deep is $200 here, Gandalf Arrives is $23, so don't feel so bad. Webhallen looks like a decent deal at that price.
  24. My last one was like that, Australia Post from Sydney, but my previous orders have had Denmark or Singapore written on them and (I don't remember who) some courier delivered one once.
