You don't like the Captain Wildmen? Oh well. I did mention that the figs were "part of my Nocturnus Guild army" - the photo is a small section of that army. (But there were minotaurs in Narnia, why not Middle-Earth?) Another head that would work really well for an orc (if only it was tan or brown) is Voldemort. I bought the Moria set twice, the others are from BL. I figured the same: the reason I haven't gone beserk on orc minifigs - who knows what other sets they might be in? I might be kicking myself in the end.

Most believe the tiles have studs on the other side - (this is a new part already used for Ninjago) and that the green piece is just a 2x2 jumper plate common in Heroica. I personally can't see any other use for the printed tiles, so I hope for MOC sake either they are stickers*, or the studs are on the green piece as you suggest. But I don't reckon so. *however annoying that would be, and un-kiddie-friendly

Thanks Luxor... back on topic: (whoops forgot the obligatory link) Maybe you recognise this scene: (lighting is deliberate) Perhaps they await something like this: As part of my Nocturnus Guild army, I have included the half-uruks and wildmen that would've been present at Helm's Deep (according to the book). I have found the POTC zombies & cannibals (together with Jack's headpiece) + CMF werewolf headpiece + Lord Garmadon + uruk-hai armour mix in well. Going by the movie, uru-hai are often reddish, brown & black. So far TLG has almost only given us dark red. This addresses some of that too. Also, this rather large spider hangs from the light fitting on its own thread...

Aussie sales! Share the news of LOCAL sales!
Artanis I replied to Darth_Legois's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
This weekend Myer have 50%-off marked already reduced toys, sometimes there is a bit of Lego in the mix, I've picked up a decent haul in the past. Will vary by shop. I got Garmadon's Fortress or whatever the name is for something like $50 last time. -
Underneath Isengard when Saruman gets his orcs to pull down the forest and "build an army worthy of Mordor". They forge heaps of weapons and create uruk-hai. Shown mostly in the 1st movie (completely flooded at the end of the 2nd)

Very interesting Star Wars/Lord of the Rings comparison
Artanis I replied to SheepEater's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I think almost all of those character comparisons are a stretch. Not even on the list was Saruman/Dooku, probably the best similarity. Wizard gets corrupted by Sauron, tries to talk Gandalf into joining him / Jedi Master turns to the dark side, tries to talk Obi Wan into joining him. Both played by Christopher Lee, similar dialogue in those two scenes. But the AT-AT/Mumak scenes are a good call. Thank God for that. As much as I like the Beatles. -
Ah. That works. Now I just can't seem to control Gimli well enough to get him to stand over the ladder instead of bashing the wall - strike 1, strike 2, strike 3 GAME OVER

Don't think anyone has mentioned, but I just noticed the SW UCS B-Wing set is on S@H, available from 1st of October for $349. (At that price I know I won't be getting it, but it does look quite nice if you're into space ships.) -
Depends if we are talking about Eomer & Gandalf's lot that came down the hill or the mounted soldiers that came out of the fortress just before that... of course they were on the bridge but there wasn't enough room for me to put them all there. And if we are talking continuity errors, the wall hasn't been destroyed yet, Haldir is still alive, Aragorn is on foot and Gimli & Legolas are still on the wall. Also Eomer is with the wrong group and there is a Rohan rider with a red cape. (What are we supposed to do with these spare red capes? Green capes I could do with, but no...)

I can't get that stupid game to work, it just keeps looping through the instruction animation with the "loading" bar never going away.

Link to set Most sets have been maxed out with as many minifigs as can fit. Not everything was photographed, particularly bases. This was on display in a room at my previous residence - unfortunately it's all packed away in boxes at the moment. I pretty much (some impulse/polybag sets have eluded me) have all the sets from 1987-1997, SP3 & Alien Conquest.
-
I wouldn't have a clue regarding the physical stores, we don't have them here. You could try taking your set back and explain I suppose, if that doesn't work they might suggest the same as me.
-
I now have all the sets - just waiting for BL to get back to normal before I look at fleshing out the armies further. Assuming my remaining outstanding delivery from B&N arrives, for armies I will have 36 uruk hai, 8 each of Moria & Mordor orcs, 12 Rohirrim & 4 Gimlis ( ). Haven't opened the other Helm's Deep box yet. For now I have 1 shot of my Helm's Deep set-up: Gimli & Legolas are on the wall above the ladder.

I have no idea where you are, but you can either call customer services or go through the Lego website to request replacement parts if anything is broken, damaged, missing etc. On some occasions you will need to send them the parts in question. For misprints, I think it will work but I've never tried. Others have been successful. I have requested parts through the website on 2 or 3 occasions in the past, and have had very good prompt service.

I love the vintage space subthemes... always good to see them on display. I packed up my collection a year ago, I will see if I can find some good photos.

Take a good look at the roof, there is a very strong case for a removeable roof. Two layers of 1-plate thickness on top of each other. I imagine 1 of those to be primarily tiles. That means there is definitely a back (assumption already made due to the lighting) and no horizontally hinged opening. edit: the lower layer has the indentations consistent with tiles. I am 100% convinced that the roof opens up (I doubt it is hinged, I imagine it would be lift-off).

Been asked and answered a thousand times. That number has been used already. Try Bricklink, Brickset etc they have quite a catalogue of existing & pending sets, parts & minifigs.

What is the "classic" Classic Space Minifig Color?
Artanis I replied to Legoroni's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
It has also been said that red & white were used as the original release because they are the national colours of Denmark. I would consider TLG place white ahead of red due to the white classic space statue minifig that appeared in Space Police 3. Also, it was the only one they didn't reuse for Futuron. Not that it matters. -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Artanis I replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
No joke, I'll be completely honest: no matter how many times I've seen the movies, most of my visual knowledge & recognition of SW ships & vehicles is from reading Eurobricks... (apart from the really obviously famous ones). It's from watching them after being on here that I go: "oh, so there's _______" It always amuses me to see "this is too big" "this is the wrong shape" etc - I wouldn't have a clue. -
LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
Artanis I replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
What bats? Haunted mansion? Or did you mean the castle? Release of these is only a month away. Usually they appear early somewhere, and Whitefang gets to review them around the same time. Pics MUST be coming soon... EAGERLY ANTICIPATING... -
LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
Artanis I replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks Erdie for the hi-res pics & info, it changed my mind a bit - at first I didn't like this at all. I for one think the set looks really nice, it's smooth & closely resembles the artwork. I don't go for UCS stuff (way out of my price range) so I won't be buying it but I quite like this one, despite its obscurity. I'll be frank, I've seen ROTJ plenty of times and before today if you asked me what a B-Wing looked like I would've had no idea. If it weren't for the "It's A Trap" meme I wouldn't even recognise this ship. That really annoys me, I think the Mandalorian ship is like that. -
Buying LEGO from other countries on-line stores
Artanis I replied to Siegfried's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Was going to ask the same question yesterday (as the 14 business days for delivery was up) but I have notification that there is a parcel waiting for me at the post office today. Well that's one, anyway. 3 more to go I think. -
What do you do when the box art and instructions differ?
Artanis I replied to SheepEater's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Box art: Inside the instructions: The parts included follow the 2nd image. I believe the instruction version is more solid (less likely to come apart accidentally) and looks less blocky. All artwork on the box, actual photos in the instruction booklet and pictures on the website depict the first image version.
