[MOC] Holy schrunken Batmobile 1966 [ 7 stud wide ]
B Rick replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Licensed
I'm torn between several ideas for the car. I haven't posted much about it lately but the car has undergone various stages of rebuilding. It had three different frontends and two rearends. The wheelbase has been stretched and widened. But the car has had several more major updates... The best of em all, I got the dark red wing pieces front and back! Also, the double bubbletop-cockpit has more articulation and is moved forward 1 stud. It now features an all new detailed interior which I'll show whenthe car is finished. I managed to flatten the bodywork even more (1 plate lower) and has a lot of Batman gadgets which I'll keep under my hat for now... As I thought I almost finished the whole car I got another idea for the fenders. Not completely sure about it. I'll have to let it sink in... I know it's more acurate this way but I kinda mis the evil hotrod look my original design had... The wheels now have 5 studs between them instead of 3. At least I have got the red line dropped down. This is the old version: Parts I'm waiting for: black 2x4 rooftoppieces loads of black 1x1s and 1x3's cockpit windows in translucent lightblue. red technicbricks with axlepins Oh, and I've also been busy with a Gotham decor for the car. A typical 1966 Batman scene. Just need some parts for the base and than I can show it to ya. -
Beautiful... It has been a long time since I saw GB. I guess this is an acurate interior?

Thanks LegoDr and Caperberry! That is valuable information (at least for a beginner like me...) So the green I found on brickset IS the regular green 62Bricks was referring to...
-
Hmm, that's new to me. Rather good news I might add. I regularly check on Brickset.com whether a part is available in what colour. What you're telling me means that there could be loads of parts I desperately need and think do not exist ...DO exist! Do you have any idea from which set(number) this particular green piece came? Or could it be that Lego made a run of them just for the aftermarket..? Cause below is what I had found on the brickset page: And when I clicked on the one green part (wich seems regular green btw...) I got it telling me it's Dk Green...
-
Hmmz... You've got a point right there. I haven't checked out parts of other companies that well so I don't know whether or not they've copied recent parts... Are they exactly the same? I did notice (slightly) differences between Kreo's copies of the 'same' Lego part... But as I said, I didn't check it ou thoroughly. I did had a chat with a Lego-specialst last week about patents and he told me that Lego stays ahead of competitors by releasing lots of parts that the competitor companies cannot produce because of patents and legal rights... Patents and legal rights is a really big thing for companies. It may be far fetched but could it be possible that Lego has sold, or made some other agreements with those other companies to 'copy' certain parts since the patent was over recently..? I checked out the part you're referring to on brickset . com, and it seems that the only green that part came in is Dk Green. Could it be that the green you are referring to has been discontinued, like for instance Dark Red? (wich has become New Dark Red and really s different from the old one...)

Never thought I'd ever say this, but I did say it before and I will say it again: those flames look incredible coming out of the exhaust like that! It's gonna look great on the batwing. By the way... Aren't you tempted to build another one of those engines including wheels and a small cockpit? I'll betcha it would look awesome as a Batmobile...

Nah... I meant a cool brickbuilt Zuul. Taking a Warg from the Hobbit set is like a Lego Wampa (Star Wars) putting on a sailorsuit and pretend it's Stay Puft the Marshmellow Man... ;-) I think I collected enough Chima Legend Beasts with the new-ish balljoints to give it a try. If I only had the time... Somebody is probably beating me to it as we speak....
-
Only when the build is in Dk Green, not regular green, because the technic brick doesn't come in other greens eighter... Cool thread by the way. I've been thinking about starting a similar one. I came across the frustrating problem of not having the right part in the right colour because of it not existing many a time... I get often frustrated by the lack of plates with an uneven amount of studs on one side... Ofcourse we have 1x1s, and hurray for 1x3s... But some 5s or 7s would really be helpful. I now know there is a 3x3 plate in grey, so I hope Lego will continue making these uneven studded plates, in lots of colours ofcourse... It just came to me... WHAT IF... ...one of the other brickcompanies beats Lego to it to release a patented brick like a 2x2 jumperplate as mentioned above..? Then this brick can't be released by our beloved TLG for another 50 years... Am I right? I think I am...

GREAT new minifigs! Has anybody ever attempted to do the hellhound Zuul? I wanted to do one after I built my cartoony version of the Ecto 1 but I got caught up in another project. Also I don't have the right bricks... Looking forward to see anyone doing it. Hint hint, wetwired... ;-)

Holland still doesn't have an official Lego-store (and we probably never will) but, imho, we have something better... A store that sells Lego with an at least permanent 20% discount and carry almost every set imaginable. They even have several unopend boxes from the 70's and 80's. And Lego toycars from the 50's... Next to a wall with small packages containing certain pieces with an avarage of 10 pcs for 1 euro, they now have sort of a pick a brick wall. Bad thing is... In the end it tends to be kinda expensive with bricks for a certain price. (for example: 1x2 tan plate for 4 eurocents and a 1x2 sandyellow masonry brick for 15 eurocents) But the good thing is, you end up with only the bricks you need. At least I did. I went to the beautiful city of Delft (The Netherlands) and didn't expect so much parts that I really need for a moc I'm building at the moment. Especially the masonrybricks and 1x4 brown tiles. I know on the picture it doesn't seem like much, but mind you, there are 70+ masonrybricks in the upper leftcorner...! Oh, and I got 3 minifigs I never thought I ever would come across for a reasonable price... So I went home a very happy man.

Exactly! But never ever do that again... ;-)

(MOC) The Incredible Schrunken Hearse (monsterfighters)
B Rick replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks! As with the haunted house, I also love the original hearse. Fun an d creepy design, but somehow they didn't fit together sizewise... So, the house got bigger and the car ad to become smaller. It tends to be a difficult job to transform a car to a 7 stud wide vehicle but the challenge is really fun. Somehow it fits the minifigures the best, imho.- 36 replies

Thanks! I absolutly love the original Lego design so it just needed slight improvements, particularly size-wise to get a decent interior to fit the building. But the set is great as is, and it is probably my all time favorite Lego set.

DC Super Heroes Batman and Aquaman Chill of the Night
B Rick replied to FinalFeature's topic in Brick Flicks & Comics
That was cool! I laughed out oud when I heard Arnie talk... Well done! -
I'm keeping mine, although I absolutely don't have room for it really. It's just that I got to this point in my life that I regret not having boxes and packaging from my childhood toys. I remember the boxes being just as important as the toy that came with it... Now I have all the boxes from my afol days, but it's just not the same ;-) ...yet. Selling is also a good reason. Not that I will sell my Lego anytime soon (read: ever) but people are willing to pay a price for an almost mint box... I know I would if I ever come across a nice box from my childhood toys. I'm always carefull when I open a box to keep damage to a minimum. Then I'll flatten it out for easy storage.

Pretty good! So much detail and stuff, but the best part has to be that you've included Mr. Wayne's office. Including the parents portrait and a window with a view. Ooh, and where did you get that Joker tile..?
