Pretty! I really like some of the details, especially the partsuse on the head. Been wanting to build a animestyle mecha since way before my afol days. I guess even way before my dark ages... ;-) I'll be trying out those new ball-joints that came with the Chima legend beasts.

A classic, made out of classic bricks! ...or plates... Pixelorientated lego mosaics make perfect usericons! :)

Hahah, why wouldn't it be...? Such a rule would only benefit those who have seen it already, but new members are joining everyday. It would be a shame if some posts didn't got seen just because it's prohibited to bump it once in a while to give a builder some credit/advise/compliments/critisism. I am a freshly converted afol and I really like to show my appreciation to builders and builds that have inspired me and my builds eventhough the posts are several years old. For newbies it's one of just a few ways to get to see awesome builds that have been around for a while. That said, my batmobile isn't that old... ;) Oh, and you laughing out loud when seeing my shop front gave me a big smile... :D But I have to tell you that I cheated a little bit: I had to squeeze a tiny piece of paper between two loose tiles because it was imposible to 'build' them in. To do lettering this way is really hard to pull off, and I don't think it is possible to do a complete alphabet this way. So hats off to the original designers that came up with this way of building! Thanks for the bump and the kind words.

[MOC] Ecto-1 Ghostbusters (Ex hearse/Icecream truck) Monster Fighters
B Rick replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Licensed
Thanks! I think... What happened to (settings of) this thread? (It now has an arrow instead of a 1x1 brick 'read/unread' and zero views?) Edit: Never mind... I notice the thread has been moved to 'Licensed'. Thanks! -
Very cool!

[MOC] Ecto-1 Ghostbusters (Ex hearse/Icecream truck) Monster Fighters
B Rick replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Licensed
These are older pics. The way the Ecto 1 first turned out: This afternoon I felt like building the Ghostbusters Ecto-1from my 7 stud icecream truck/hearse. As the Ecto-1 in the movie actually was a hearse... (logos are supernatural photoshoptrickery) Mind you, this is ofcourse my own rendition. A bit stylistic in design without all the details that would break up the original simple lines of the car. Although, now that I see the photo's I think I could do a better job with the fins... I guess setting them a plate (or two) higher and making the red start with one plate height and discard the unnescesary cheesslope... ^ The Ecto-1 next to my original 7 stud design (based on the Monster Fighters Vampyre Hearse) ^ Some scenery shots. The Ecto-1 feels right at home in front of Phantom Manor... 'exectly' huh... I guess I must have done something wrong. ;-) Thanks! -
I've added new foto's of my Ghostbusters headquarters addition! (11-3-2014) I've made some alterations to the hearse. Mostly on the tailfin area. The red from the fins isn't touching the rearlights anymore. Also the equipment on the roof is slightly different. It sort of 'belongs' ther now as opposed to be just an 'add-on' like before. I've also made it structurally better. (see post #2)

Thanks for the feedback guys! Heheh, that came to mind while I was building it. And then I had yet another idea: Rename it the Eye Scream truck. I thought about getting another white icecream-dome and paint it up like a bloodshot eye... I have some Chima-wings so I could easily make it a Flying Eyball (Hotrod icon). I'd design some stickers with Eye Scream lettering... Other idea... Seeing the hearse in a beautiful white I REALLY want to rebuild into my version of the Ecto 1... Should I wait for the official Ecto 1 release for parts scrounging, or should I just start building and see where it ends...

You fooled me with the doughnut- and cookiestickers! Great job on a fun moc.

Thanks Riftx! I actually enjoyed that! I think the producers have really made a big mistake not using the original 3D Lego models for the entire series. But I guess that will make it too obvious that it is a Lego-commercial...
-
Totally awesome... A bit disappointed though, now I know what it'll cost ...even without an interior... Although I did notice the size. It's huge AND awesome. Hope to see a fully lighted cadIllac parked in front of it.

I watched only one short, and thought it was one too many... Just plain awfull. Can't believe such a wel established company like Lego is involved in this. Even for a commercial, cause let's face it, that's what it is, it's bad. Very bad... Bad humor, bad 'story'line, bad artwork. (why didn't they use 3D animation while that would be perfect for Lego...) On the other hand, I'm very attracted to the Lego Mixel sets. I think of em quite the opposite from the cartoon: Great characters, fun, creative, plus some come with really nice parts. Oh, and they are relatively cheap.

Thanks guys! That cone on the roof kinda gives it away, huh... ;) True, the ice cream decorations and the loudspeakers come from the flying ice cream machine from the movie set. That set came out at just the right moment. I wanted to build an icecream/hearse from the moment I put together the original Vampyre Hearse. When the ice cream machine came out I knew I had to have it. Luckily I got it on sale.

Best Chima legend beast for parts?
B Rick replied to Im a brickmaster.'s topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I love these sets! I became interested in the parts, especially the small baljoints. Indeed: perfect for posable mecha. But when I bought the lion and the gorilla I immediately fell in love with the overall designs. They are really well executed, and highly posable. Really impressive for relatively cheap sets... I just left off the stickers, and for now I made em look like 'real' animals. So, no seating for minifigs. They were pretty cheap around here so I've picked up a bunch of them. Less than 8 euro's each and when you bought two you got the 2nd one 50% off! (all of the available Lego-sets by the way) For mecha-parts... For a functional fully posably mecha-skelleton I'd buy two or three sets. But why not start with the gorilla... It comes with a built-in humanoid shape. -
7 stud wide Icecream Truck. Based upon a 7 stud version of my modified Vampyre Hearse. As you can see I've used the icecream-decoration from the new Lego Movie Flying icecream machine. That is a great set to get some of the icecream decorations I needed for my hotrod icecreamtruck I wanted to build right after I finished my hearse. I took me a while to collect all the parts I needed for the truck. Hope you like it. And yes, it's got enough groundclearance to roll on a flat smooth surface... ^ Lovely Icecream ornamentation comes from the Lego Movie Icecreammachine set. As are the roofspeakers. ^ Thought it would be cool to pimp the truck with a gold capped tooth in the grille... No question about it this icecreamman comes from the wrong side of town... (A ring from a Lord of the Rings set) ^ The before and after-shot... ^ Garage scene. The old hearse getting it's makeover icecreamtruck-camouflage... So... Would you buy an icecreamcone from this guy...?

(MOC) The Incredible Schrunken Hearse (monsterfighters)
B Rick replied to B Rick's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh, I almost forgot... The front of this hearse has been altered since a long time ago. Just didn't feel like taking pictures. As I said before, this mini-version was based on my modified Monster Fighters hearse, so it had the same front. After a while I wanted some of the grotesque features the original MF hearse had back on my own moc. So back came the evil looking headlights, a subtle bumper, and sort of a teeth-like grille. But in a '50s custom kinda way. There are probably a bit more alterations, not worthy of mentioning ;) And stay tuned for my pimped out icecream truck... Did some tinkering to my haunted house again some time ago. It now features a carport/open garage for the hearse. I remodeled the attic-window, made the frontporch wider and attached to the carport. The whole building has 'grown' three bricks higher. I replaced the towerornament for a trident. So in all it looks much more like EuroDisney's Phantom Manor. There are several other adjustments. I just have difficulty getting the whole house into one photograph... Oh, and watch out for the hearse, cause it has been transformed into an icecreamtruck. The perfect camouflage for Lord Vampyre in search of young blood...
