  1. The turning radius is indeed improved, from 105cm to 90cm. Nothing seems to suffer, as the limiting factor now becomes the steering rack range. Not tried yes to change rack length... Got absolutely no problem with that (but I have not tried outdoor/real rock run). Awesome red livery! :)
  2. Finally took the time to write a few words about this model! First, photo and video... Rocky is very nice version of the crawler, with an innovative suspension system. As you can see on the video, the climbing capability is excellent. I liked a lot the photo steps building instructions (and from a LDraw aficionado like me, this is a big compliment ;) ). The model is compatible with LEGO app but works fine too with BC2 or Controlz. Some drawbacks now: accessibility to the "on" button of the hub is not wonderfully handy (but the procedure is well documented in the BIs). The wheelbase is 30% longer than official model, which means that the turning radius is very poor. Speed is slow too, the price to pay for the agility... but I dream of a model with a two speed gearbox controlled by a 4th motor!
  3. Yes, no absolute encoder. See http://philohome.com/wedo2reverse/protocol.htm
  4. Ah yes.... It's reported to work with Wine, but it's more tricky!
  5. Have you tried LDCad?
  6. Yes it works fine, though the two axises are not as symmetrical than with the "biscuit" version. OTOH it is closer to something even more useful: a manually controlled lever on top going through middle hole to move some mechanisms (as achieved is Sariel micro ball mount). But I see no towball part with exensions on both sides...
  7. I am not advocating for Studio (I find LDCad flew parts MUCH easier to use!) but I see no usage restriction for soft axles? http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Philo/misc2/softaxle.io
  8. Yes, there are subparts (in parts\s folder): https://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=flexible axle Tip of the day: try to use LDCad, so much better for flexible parts!
  9. 42110 - Land Rover Defender (Technic 2019) Download MPD (OMR compliant) Known errors: No stickers. Done with LDCad 1.6c Rendered with Studio 2.0 LDCad Universal joint placement helper script was heaven sent for this model!
  10. Agreed, that would be useful not to needlessly drain the battery! Sure, no double work, I'm patient ;)
  11. Just tried it (Moto G5+ / ultimate 42099). Overall it works, but... is there a way to control more than one motor with a single slider?
  12. Have you tried one of the latest LPub3D versions? There is now a native renderer, which not only is MUCH faster, but also attempts to scale the model to fit it on page. This may not be the behaviour you would like, but it's a solution (I'd prefer to be able to zoom in on a part of the model...).
  13. Thanks ;) No you can't count pulses, encoder data is returned as a 115200bps serial stream. See http://philohome.com/wedo2reverse/protocol.htm
  14. Yeah, naming is a mess. Now add to this WeDo, Boost and Spike Prime, all based on compatible hardware... Looks like indeed Powered Up is now the name of that range of devices, but I kept C+ for the Technic style motors. According to my measurements, simple M motor delivers 1.1W, version with encoder (Boost external motor) provides only 0.8W, but the PF large motor gives 2.2W!
  15. There is also a few video tutorials on Roland's Youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCBjfVzOdGUkrHNV08K5k5kg (eg. this one on pneumatic tubing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Peu5yqD2iAo) As I said above there is no known solutions for nets. Maybe you could use an array flexible strings - or create a custom LDraw parts, but both solutions are a hell of a job...
  16. Fully agree... but @mariakala mentionned nets, that are supported in no LEGO Cad I know :(
  17. Mmhhhh... I see what you mean. I sometimes have server side cache issues. Try http://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm, it works here.
  18. I had a few missing images, but AFAIK no chart is missing? I don't either... This was partly the reson for this belated update: verification because I didn't believe what I measured! No, its PFS vs. C+ that have very similar motor cores.
  19. New update of my motor comparison page! Now includes Control+ Large and XL motors. I am puzzled by the L/XL twins: their rotation speed and delivered power are so similar that I don't see the point of the more bulky XL version! Only the no-load current/efficiency of XL are better. Maybe XL has a better reliability at high torque?
  20. So I built Code Yellow version... The chassis is extremely compact and sturdy. Many times I had the feeling "this looks like over-engineering"... only to understand a bit later the necessity of that build to get something rock solid! The instructions are not for the fainthearted, but somehow the more tricky building makes it more enjoyable than regular LEGO instructions... The Ultimate 42099 works very well, even in the hands of a lousy driver: The only problem I got: after some time playing, one propulsion motor shaft axle popped out. Fortunately it's easy to lock the axle in place: As you can see I used softer shock absorbers than the extra hard suggested by Efferman, but they are hard enough for the weight of the model.
  21. Indeed, there is (AFAIK!) no solution for that. If you have similar submodels differing only by a few parts, you must create different submodels. You can duplicate submodels this way: Session -> Duplicate this subfile. Then you can change the section which is different. Another useful use of submodel duplication is to create mirrored submodel. After duplication, Session -> Mirror this subfile.
  22. I don't understand... LDCad doesn't change anything if not instructed to do so?!
  23. Right click on selection -> reorganize -> move to subfile -> accept default options.
  24. @SNIPENot completely sure this is what you want, but you can get a part bin populated with all submodels of current model this way: move to top level parts bin, then model "(content) overview/information groups" (icon with "MPD" text) then "content of current session file" (house icon with "MPD" text). Using this bin is the proper way to add existing submodels to your model. See first section of http://www.melkert.net/LDCad/docs/advEdit
  25. I already did ;) http://forum.bricklink.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2986&sid=7696d83f36f7fca78cdce4c67bbafc60
