Yes exatly. 20460s02.dat is the "boot" subpart, whose color is controlled by the second number. You can see more details on LDraw file format here: http://www.ldraw.org/article/218.html Yes! See here: http://www.ldraw.org/article/547.html. Note that there are several silver colors defined, most probably you can choose color code 80 ("painted" silver) or 135 (silver plastic, slightly translucent) Yes also, look for 3818p01 and 3819p01 (Minifig Arm Right with Short Sleeve and Yellow Arm Pattern). The subparts (3818p01s01.dat and 3818p01s02.dat) are official for a long time, so they are present in Studio library.

@Kendo Have you downloaded and installed all 4 subparts? (s\20460s0x.dat, x[1..4]) The block with question mark means that the part or one of its subparts is missing, neither in regular library nor in custom parts. The subparts must be placed in CustomParts\Parts\s It can work... ...sort of :( As you can see, pre-colored boot is not correctly shaded. But this is clearly a bug in Studio, as this happens also with "normal" parts in Studio library. Here is an example with precolored arms torso (973c02) and the "released" version, with separated arms and hands

These legs have been missing from LDraw library for a too long time... Some of them (red and blue) are now available on LDraw parts tracker: http://www.ldraw.org/cgi-bin/ptscan.cgi?q=boots Don't forget the subparts! Edit: please wait a bit, I managed to goof in design number, should be 20460/20461, not 24060/24061. Renumbering proceeding...

The tool of choice to create new LDraw patterns is LDPatternCreator https://sourceforge.net/projects/patterncreator/files/ With it, you create a new pattern by adding colored triangles, using a background image of the torso as guide. Many LDraw tools does support the more direct texture mapping of image, but AFAIK Studio doesn't allow it yet. AFAIK they don't exist yet. Do you have a link to this part on Brickset or Bricklink?

I couldn't say it better...

Here is a quick review I made of Studio 2.0: https://forums.ldraw.org/thread-22940.html. Beeing a long time LDCad user, it's clear that the review is biased... The things I miss in Studio compared to LDCad are - the flexible parts generator (but Studio should have one in the future, hopefully soon), - some way to access parts coordinates and orientation (it helps to check if snapping went right) - LDCad triangle closure calculator ...but I love Studio photorealistic renderer and instructions generator!

LDCad: How to make rubber band
Philo replied to lh512500's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Nice! I tried for a very limited time and failed to get a good result. The key was to use more Bezier path points, I tried to use mainly circle path points, and that was clearly not the right way to go! -

Studio 2.0 "Photorealistic" Renders
Philo replied to Plastic_Goth's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
That line is the horizon. Look at your model slightly more from above to avoid seeing the black "sky". I'd like Studio had possibility to use a sky sphere... -
Yes, LDraw models of these panels are significantly too long compared to LDD version. I'll try to improve that... Part corrected and sent to LDraw admin

Transitioning to Stud.io
Philo replied to Shroud's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@Ivan_M Since you do a lot of Technic, have you considered using LDCad? Admitedly I am much more used to LDCad than to Studio, but I think that LDCad is really easier to use, especially for Technic. -
Sorry for the late answer... to download file, right click on the link ("download mpd"), then "save link as" (or similar, it depends on your browser). Then follow the other suggestions to open the file. LDCad is highly recommended!

If you got the hub to light on, well, you made the job ;) Now the drawbacks; It is not fullproof (you can easily put the battery backwards, with chances of frying the hub) the capacity of 9V batteries is low compared to AAAs you lose bottom antistud connectivity.

Yes, the tool of choice is stl2dat (command line tool) that does work fine... just remember to use the proper scaling (1 ldraw unit is 0.4mm, so the scaling factor depends on the unit used in your stl file - may be mm, cm or inches). If you prefer a windows gui, stl2dat is also available in LETGUI distribution.
