Hello! A year and a half ago, I saw somewhere on Flickr a building assembled on something like that. The idea came up to assemble an entire city from such buildings. At first standart basis were used, then doubled and quadruplet, and sometimes more. During this time two cities were built. I will share renders for those who are intrested. Hello! I'm opening a new topic. I'm slowly running out of ideas for my microcity. Now a new direction - is the modular micro castle. The base is still the same - 16x16 plate. Thanks for attention! I present my Performing Arts center at the Micropolis scale. The building was referenced from a building that does exist in Paducah, KY. I wasn't attempting to recreate the building, but I liked the design of it. I designed this building using Bricklink's STUD.io software and rendered it with the native rendering tool. This is a design I've been working on for that last year or so. I meant to have it built for the 2016 Brickfair Virginia but wasn't able to quite pull it all together in time. So I brought it out for this years Brickfair. I originally designed the building the Lego Digital Design (LDD) software. I had the design even built. Once I switched my primary software to bricklink;s Stud.io I tested out the rendering package in Stud.io on this build and it sold me on the switch to the software package. I started to evaluate the design a bit further for this years Brickfair and wanted to add some lighting which cause me to really work through some redesign efforts in the roof and foundation pieces. the final design from Stud.io ended up looking like this. Now it was time to build and light. I am really happy our this all came out.

[Stud.io] Micropolis Weekend designs before Brickfair VA 2017

I'm working on a design a week in the micropolis scale and hopefully I will be able to pick one or two models to display this year at Brickfair VA. Please feel free to comment or suggests edits on the designs as I want to put my best foot forward since this will be my first time displaying at a show. This week I wanted to incorporate the rounds along the top edge of this building and I like the look of the "Wraps" along the front columns and over the roof. I'm not sure about keeping the poles in the back but I didn't have time to really work on that area this weekend. I like building at this scale because it's not a part's hog and it gives a newer builder more exposure to building techniques with out having the entire build designed around that technique. This is a new building that I'm working on but I haven't picked what direction I want to go on the colors. I'm hoping to have the design finalized and bricks ordered in time for BrickFair VA 2017. I think I'm about 90% done with the building itself. I have the roof detailing to complete, plus adding more detail work but want to put this out there for comment. I have two working color schemes I'm looking at and would love to hear feedback on which one to go with. There is a lot I am liking about this software over LDD. Maybe I might write a post about another time.

So I just started to really look into building Micropolis buildings and have the ultimate goal of presenting a few blocks worth of quality builds for this years Brickfair VA. I have some pie in the sky ideas but right now I just need to see about getting the basics down of the standard. So I present my first two images from my first attempt at building in this fashion. Please be honest with critiques so that I can get better.

A typical Swedish cottage that I made for a competition over at Swebrick. Dark red cottages with white corners is as traditional as it gets over here :) Was very frustrating to work in such a small space, but happy with how it turned out in the end. Hope you like it

This is my first try in this forum, so bear with me if I'm doing something wrong At some point in 2012, I stumpled upon the Micropolis standard created by members of TwinLUG, and thougt it might be a theme for me. Since then, I have focused my creativity on this, and one of my latest creations is this City Hall: City Hall_2 by Sandman_DK, on Flickr It started with 4 storeys, but seemed kind of small compared to some of my other buildings. Another of my Micropolis modules is this 32*32 block with three appartmentbuildings and a mixed use building. At it's ground level, you will find a toy store - THE place to buy your bricks . The module will be on display at LEGO Fan Weekend 2014, as a part of my Micropolis layout. Teensietown is a modular LEGO microscale city based on the "Micropolis" standard published by TwinLUG but with some slight amendments that suit us there and then better. It is a growing thing, and most impressive when exhibited. Anyone who cares to look more closely can find an old LEGOLAND-Set, as well as a model of the televisiontower of Prague. Everything else was built from inspiration and imagination. Here you can find a lot of the buildings extracted from the whole thing as well as info on the co-builders: http://teensietown.weebly.com/ Sherv, a fellow of my local LUG, has ignited the whole idea, I am responsible especially for the waterway management, and more recently railroads and highway. The easy thing with the project is for me, that one can build with the parts that one has and doesn't have to buy too much bricks to make it look good. Thanks to the modular system, the city looks different everytime it gets exposed.
