  1. (When the base and any other digital creations are built in real life, I will add those pictures into this page.) This is the beginning of a journey through the wormhole to a mini-figure called Benny and a civilization on the cusp of greatness. His continuing mission: to seek out new lifeforms, to explore unknown worlds, all in the name of of science and awesomeness. The year is 1980-something, the name of the theme is Classic Space. Classic Space fortress walls The base as it was ordered... will post a picture of the complete setup when built in real life. Here is the main gate. It can open up all the way to allow the 8-stud wide ground vehicles though. Two of these parts go next to the gate where the un-printed 4 x 2 slopes are. This is one of twelve walls sections, held together with the other modules by four Technic pins.(two on each side) This is one of four of the corner modules. I redesigned these since last time to be less parts intensive and have fewer gaps in the wall. Classic Space HQ / Benny's home This building model was inspired by sets 7641 (City Corner), 31026, (Bike Shop + Cafe). This building is Benny's home and the backup classic space command center. The delivery door out back was designed for semi-truck deliveries to the model rocket shop that originally occupied the building, but now serves as the entrance to the base. (NOTE: watch your head, as this is a very cramped area!) Downstairs is the old model rocket store showroom, with a model Utopian city (with monorail!) and 1980's video game cabinet "Astro Nut". Benny keeps the sales counter the way it was in the old days, as a reminder of the building's heritage. Inside and upstairs is the living area with the huge 1970's super computer LL9000 taking up a sizable amount of space at the top of the stairs. On the upstairs level as well is the cooking area and sleeping quarters, where Benny has a TV to record his favorite shows on VHS tapes... old habits die hard I guess! Classic 1950's Moonraker automobile This is Benny the 1980-something space guy's 1955 Moonraker made by Neptune Auto Group. The engine has been upgraded from a gasoline chugging-monster into a more environmentally-friendly Hydrogen-3 Fusion engine to turn it into a modern mechanical beast with a retro exterior. The 1950's car was originally a @hachiroku design of a Hudson Hornet that I modified into being build-able for Benny and my Classic Space base. You can see the original model here. I also took inspiration from set 10232 (Palace Cinema) for the rear taillights and the top of the hood. I even added bumblebee stripes on either side, just like on my MOD of Benny's spaceship. (set 70816) The car also has a spare tire located on the opening trunk. The entire roof of the car lifts away to place Benny at the controls. Classic 1980's Security Forces Jeep (x2) This model was heavily inspired by set 75916: Dilophosaurus Ambush from the first series of Jurassic World sets. I have turned that jeep into a Classic Space vehicle by subtracting most of the features and adding the CS logo to this piece on the trunk and a space seat for the driver. This CS version has a trans-yellow windscreen and a revised roll-cage. The rear of the vehicle has a spare tire, license plate and tail-pipe while the roll-cage folds back to allow for you to place the driver in the seat. Cosmic Explorer This is a heavily modified set 70816 (Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!) to features a new canopy from set 75176 (Resistance Transport pod) for the front windscreen, plus a rear turret that elevates and rotates in lieu of the radar dish and repair robots. To match the new canopy, the crew quarters were enlarged and opening roof remade, but the wings still fold out via the same Technic mechanism as in the original set 70816. The rear of the ship features the three main engines. The sensor array that was once near here was replaced by a four-barrel repeating laser turret that can rotate a full 360 degrees and elevate to 180 degrees, allowing for cover fire in almost any direction. The wings fold out if the center engine is pushed inwards, ready for the foam-tipped missiles to be engaged and aimed at any Blacktron III enemies... I did remove those yellow missiles, as they were too touchy and could fire accidentally. The main canopy has been heavily modified to allow for crew to go between the engineering and navigation sections without having to exit the ship. The Unikitty-seat area was replaced with a opening canopy for the engineering and fire-control crew to see outside from their stations near the Imagination Reactor. Deep Space Fighters These ships are deep space fighters of the Galaxy-class. Each seat one figure and have enhanced hyper-drive making it nearly as fast as LL-929. (Benny's spaceship) This ship was designed to be a heavily-armed fighter, and features an enclosed cockpit allowing for long distance travel such as from system to system if in an emergency. The rear of each of the two ship's features two engines made up of four thrusters. Here is the cockpit, which can seat 1 pilot figure per ship. K8-E the robot dog - Benny's best friend After meeting the Doctor (Who?) and his K-9 (pronounced Canine) unit, Benny decided he wanted a pet. So he bought himself a retired space police bot named K8-E (it's pronounced Katy) who helps Benny with his maintaining his SPACESHIP! and home base of the fleet. The two robot dogs eventually teamed up to sabotage a Blacktron and Dalek peace treaty from being signed, thus keeping the Universe safe from their plans for conquest for the moment. K8-E even took a laser shot from the Blacktron secondary leader, saving K-9 from being killed in the midst of them leaving the self-destructing Dalek ship. When reunited with Benny and the Doctor a short while later, the robot dog was fixed up and given the nod of approval from the Doctor, and a happy farewell from K-9, who left with the Doctor in the TARDIS to go to parts unknown looking for the Daleks fleeing from their loss at the hands of K8-E & K-9. From then on, K8-E has been keeping Benny company while awaiting the return of K-9 and the Doctor. K8-E is actually modified from set 8399 (K-9 Bot), which is a 2009 Space Police III set. Astro-Bot 33 - Classic Space's Giant Robot You may ask yourself: "Why would the Classic Space fleet want a giant robot?" The answer is a simple one: "Who in their right mind wouldn't want a giant freaking robot!?!?!" This model is a recolored and modified version of @hachiroku Iron Giant model, but remade it into the Classic Space color-scheme. Red and green indicator lights are placed in four spots while the feet feature hidden trans-orange tiles to signify rocket-booster output nozzles that allow for flight. I revised the robot's head, to add a central fin that is more like the 50's inspired original Iron Giant. Bumblebee stripes are also on his upper torso near the neck. The number 33 is printed just above the Classic Space logo using vintage '80's bricks as well, to give it a retro feel. NOTE: After removing the knees and fixing the ankles, the robot stands up a lot better. (I really need to take a picture of it standing up on it's own sometime...) Secure Cargo Crawler-Transporter This is a heavily modified Classic Space version of 2018 Star Wars set 75217 (Imperial Conveyex Transport). It's length has been doubled and the weapons have been removed, but it function remains the same: this vehicle transports valuable material be it futuristic rocket fuel, or oxygen tanks, or even astronaut food to and from Benny's remote base in a highly secure manner to the far-away location of New Asteroid City on the far side of the planet. The vehicle can be shortened or lengthened in modular sections depending on the needs of the specific mission, but in this particular case it has two crawler engine units, and two cargo hauler segments that can easily detach for maintenance or to drop more segments in / out. On each of the engine units is the dual drivers compartments, located on either side of the tread behind the square openings. The cargo sections haul four sealed containers of very volatile fuel apiece, with the entire train seen here hauling eight crates. (this will supply the base for up to three months of fuel) You can see here the fuel as it is being readied for transport, just before being sealed in the boxes and set inside the vehicle. Classic Space figures These are all my Classic Space figures. The thirteen green figures are the soldiers of the group, while while the six red suited people are scientists. The three blue figures are Benny (in helmet), Penelope (with pigtails), and Unikitty who are the officers of the group. The two other figures, (the red android and the robo-dog) are T-3PO, who serves as the translator to other species and computer systems, while the robo-dog is K8-E who happens to be Benny's personal pet / security guard. EDITED 11/5/18: added the just-finished secure cargo transporter's (75217 MOD) real life photo's to the first post! As usual, Comments, questions and complaints are always welcome!
  2. I like to present you my Lego town Steinbruck. The name is from Stein=brick & bruck(old German)=bridge. This is my current layout: My MOC and MOD buildings (more detail pictures in the albums; just click the pictures to get there): I'm planning a car wash for the Service Station and will build it in the next months. I also build digital, but can't afford all of them to build with bricks. Click to album.

31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined

When this set was on Black Friday sales a few years ago a lot of people created their own modular versions of these sets. So here are mine... I decided to do a cafe, of course, and a florist instead of a bike shop. One of the alternate buildings in the instructions was something resembling a florist, so I thought I'd go another way instead of another bike shop. The first picture is both of them together. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr The next picture is of just the cafe. I really liked the dark red and black color scheme since it is not seen too often. The yellow awning really pops against those colors. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr Next is a different angle. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr And the rear. Overall pretty plain, but no one sees it. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr Next we have the flower shop. I liked the medium blue and tan contrast. The tree out front adds a bit of foliage. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr Side profile 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr And rear. This reveals the greenhouse. 31026 Bike Shop & Cafe reimagined by TheLegoDr, on Flickr Please let me know what you think. I had fun adding my own spin on this set.
  4. This building is my most recent form of Benny's Spaceship Shop. It sells all things Space themed, with Benny making model rockets in the back and a large model space city in the front window. Benny also lives on the upper floor. I already have the car, and just need to make the building in real life. please note, some prints are missing from the model: The sloped 4x2 sign out front is actually this piece: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=30363pb021#T=C&C=7 While the arch in the window display should feature this print: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=4490pb02&idColor=7#T=C&C=7 Benny's upstairs living quarters include a stove, sink and bed while downstairs is the model space city and check out counter with model rocket. The 2x2 tile in front of the model rocket should be printed like this: http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=3068bpb0353#T=C&C=1 The rear of the building features a loading dock. I was inspired to build this model after seeing the dark red half-track / truck in set 60071, Hovercraft Arrest. The model looked easy to duplicate, but it proved difficult to create an exact copy. I then decided to take it in a another direction and create a generic American 1950's car, which eventually got turned into this version of Benny's Classic Space themed automobile. The model features a row of space-ship styled seats and "double" tail lights. (I used a trans-red grille to create a nice effect.) the white tile above the rear bumper is supposed to be Benny's license plate. The CS logo part on the trunk is the same one from the store sign above the door. LDD file for the car and building: http://www.mocpages.com/user_images/80135/1446486318m.lxf
  5. This is my first attempt at a modular MOC. I based it on the 31026 Bike Shop and Cafe. There are two sets in the build plus a number extra bricks for the walls. I wanted to keep the build true to the original design as much as I could. I really wanted to have windows on both sides of the door for the bike shop, but that made the building 18 studs wide. I came up with the corner idea to allow me the wider facade. No interior yet. That is my next project. Ideas for what to put on the second and third floors? There are more shots of the building here https://flic.kr/s/aHsk5nxUrF
