[MOC] McLaren F1

AWESOME MOC. Love it. and a fan of the F1 as well. The sidewall doesn't increase that much, bout 1/2 that, but overall diameter of the tire does. Here's a mathematical breakdown on the tires. The 235's are the size on the front of the F1 and the 315's are on back... -

Did some researching looks like this is based off the 4th Generation Bug. 1965-1967. 3rd Generation '58-'64, had all red tails, and different style bumpers 5th Generation '68-'70 was when they moved the gas filler to the outside of the car, plus another bumper style change. I looked, because I was thinking for some reason the rear orange turn signals didn't appear until the 70's. But was wrong on that. '65 was the first year for them. -

Thanks. I don't think I've been more excited for a model to be released. I have already ordered the parts to make two tone. and have also order a few different wheel options as well. Question? It looks like but not very good at this, But are the back windows (side and rear) the same windows has on the T1? Looking to order "tinted" windows as well. I replaced all the side and rear windows on the T1 with "tinted" ones as well. Also looks like maybe either 1x2 or 1x1 transparent bricks as well forward of the side windows. -

I'm not seeing it at all... Well they do both have 4 wheels, two round headlights, and same style bumber, but it stops there.... -

Very well done. Would love to see the rest of Pearl Harbor. Retired Navy here, All 20 years in Hawaii. Need to do WWII version of Pearl / Ford Island. The airport on Ford Island has been closed for 20 years, runway all over grown. New military housing at the one end.

Normal Technic sets with fake engines the engine components roll with the vehicle. if you roll it forward the engine components move "forward" if you roll it backwards, so does the engine components. The way I understand the video. If you have the gearbox in "D" and move the vehicle, say the camshaft moves to the right. Normally if you rolled the car in reverse the camshaft would roll to the left. But on the Porsche if you switch the gearbox to "R" and roll the car backwards the camshaft will still roll to the right, like it would in "D" Like an actual engine works. The engine don't turn the opposite way when in reverse. If you put the gearbox into "N" and roll the car, the engine doesn't move. The new go-kart has a similar gearbox, except that it's a speed thing instead of a direction thing. I would also guess by changing 'gears' with the paddle shifters when rolling the car the piston RPMs would change depend on what gear the paddle shifter is. -
A bug is a bug is a bug. Plain and simple.

I would like a mod'ed Bug. A Baja Bug would be really cool. Not the same ole same ole. And comparing a Bug to a 200SL Gullwing or Jaguar E-type Who are we kidding here. Those three don't belong in the same sentence. That's the same as comparing the 200SL Gullwing and Jag to a Pinto. Bugs were a dime a dozen car. Are there a few 'off the assembly line" like new out there now? A few, willing to be there are a crap ton more out there that are modified. That's what a Bugs are for.

60022 - Cargo Terminal Airport. $60.00 USD at Bargain Hunt. I think Lego had it for around $100 USD.

Lego Architecture Slum city by Shannon Sproule

Good representation of what? Been to quite a few third world countries. Represents nothing but a pile of Lego to me. Is it supposed to look like a city? It doesn't, not even close. -

I could handle the "New" Bug that came out about 10 years or so ago. Not sure I'd buy the current model that looks like someone dropped a weight on top of it and squashed it. Though would prefer the classic Bug. Which I think it will be. Considering the VW Camper Van T1, and the Mini Cooper were of classic designs, not newer models. Which seems to be so far the case. A "Classic Car" line so to speak. Even the F40 fits in there as a classic supercar.

The complete 2016 Speed Champions line. -
42056 - Porsche Speculation
P3_Super_Bee replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Doubt it. In the Speed Champions line the Porsche 918 Spyder costs the same price as all seven other cars in the line. And the bigger Porsche sets in the line the prices don't seem to be inflated compared to the other bigger sets in the line. To me if it was a licencing cost thing. They would cost more there. But again, the Technic set is a whole different animal, and depending on what's there compared to the real car, could come into play. Another thing to think about would be the color. If say it does come out in a color matched(custom mixed color, not using the current orange or purple color Lego already has) Lava-Orange, or Ultraviolet. Could that have an impact on price being pieces in custom colors that wouldn't be used in any other set???
