rm8 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) david, my dirt grabbers are the 1.55" version and have the dimensions 78x 25mm and 43 mm inner diameter What are you going to do with 9398 chassis? I want to save upper part of chassis, so it can fit any upper body developed for 9398 (incl 41999) My plan is to mod standart chassis. Axles wil be fully rebuilded and servo will be only at front axle. Edited July 4, 2013 by rm8
efferman Posted July 4, 2013 dear rm8, iam a chassis builder and the chassis of 9398 is imho not really interesting. it works, but for my idea absolutely not usable, maybe it will be a modified version of my little G chassis g63 von efferman auf Flickr
rm8 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) Are they 97 mm (or David mistakes)?. 97 is too big for lower suspension! RM8, can you make a picture of the new wheel rim in the 8070 tire (and in 8110 and 42000 tire too if possible) Thanks Tibivi Edited July 4, 2013 by rm8

gmshades Posted July 4, 2013 RM8, do you have any side by side pics with your original design? Maybe showing the changes that had to be made, etc? That is, if Lego allows you to. I'm really hoping to get my hands on this set, but if not, I will be making a black version for my existing set.
tibivi Posted July 5, 2013 @RM8 thank you, I love the tires

DLuders Posted July 5, 2013 @ rm8: When you were working with The Lego Group's designers, did you consider providing a different tires than the ones that had already been used on the 9398 4x4 Crawler set? I know that any new tires could have added to the final cost of the 41999 set, but those Lego balloon tires are not as grippy as RC-type rock crawler tires. When the "You Design It, We Make It" competition was ongoing, many Lego Technic AFOLs were clamoring for the return of Lego Power Puller tires & wheels -- were they considered? Anio Posted July 5, 2013 (edited) I published my review if you want to read it (by using a translater) or see the pics : http://www.techlug.f...us-kossman-2013 Edited July 5, 2013 by Anio
DLuders Posted July 5, 2013 @ Anio: Nice review! I used Translate.Google.com to translate from the original French to this English translation ; others can change the "Translate To" language to match their country.
Zerobricks Posted July 5, 2013 Can you share more photos in order for me to make an LDD file?
Anio Posted July 5, 2013 Can you share more photos in order for me to make an LDD file? W00t ?!? It will require tons of photos if you want to reproduce it exactly. Actually, I would have to do a building instruction with photos Oo I really think that you should wait the pdf instruction is available on the Lego website to achieve a 41999 LDD file. ;)

Actually, I would have to do a building instruction with photos Oo I really think that you should wait the pdf instruction is available on the Lego website to achieve a 41999 LDD file. ;) I would be happy with some more pictures of the body 'in progress', espedially the way it is attaches to the chassis since this is hard to see on the pictures that have been released until now. i would love to build the body in black or red on my 9398... I suppose TLG doesn't allow you to copy a BI booklet?
Anio Posted July 6, 2013 It is very similar to 9398 : the sides are attached with pins on the red parts, and the body is hinged at the back. I think TLG would not mind if I copy the BI. However, photographing or scanning each page would take ages. T_T
MrNumbskull13 Posted July 6, 2013 (edited) This may be a bit of a stupid question but I missed the discussion abou this. Rm8, did you get a free 4x4 Crawler Exclusive edition? technicmad Posted July 7, 2013 I have created the parts list except for the string, although my count came 4 pieces short: http://rebrickable.com/sets/41999-1/4-x-4-crawler-exclusive-edition-quot;boss-crawlerquot;-co-cr-technic-2013 Also a comparison with the 9398 shows quite a bit in common as expected: http://rebrickable.com/compare?s1=41999-1&s2=9398-

I am only missing 80 parts; mainly the dark blue ones... But they can be easily replaced by black or red ones. Now if only someone would be so kind to scan the BI we can start and don't have to wait until august 1...
