lego-maniac Posted August 21, 2012 Hi all. I'm not really sure to be at the right place to post it but I trust in moderator to move it if it's need. I just want to present my latest creation for a monster contest. I've been scared during years when I was young by monster from the cupboard or under the bed. I've tried to remake it in bricks Afraid Of The Dark Afraid Of The Dark by LegoManiac / oLaF, on Flickr Hope you've been scared !
purpleparadox Posted August 21, 2012 Awesome! It looks just like your average messy room. The look on the boy's face is priceless! And the monster is sufficiently creepy.
Bob De Quatre Posted August 21, 2012 I love it, so well done! Like the skeleton under the bed
lightningtiger Posted August 21, 2012 AWESOME work 'lego-maniac', gee that kid is really scared eh ? Looks like a scene from Monsters Inc if made by Stephen King ! Wonderful bedroom and furniture.....Brick On Scare On 'lego-maniac' !
K-Nut Posted August 21, 2012 The boy's face made laugh out loud. The posing of the monster is definitely top notch.

lego-maniac Posted August 22, 2012 thanks all, glad you enjoy. Few informations : I've only light the moc with 2 official Lego Led. I've also use the smog of Armenian Paper on the first pic to try an effect around the torch. The final pics take me the same time to build the moc (around 4/5 hours)
kibosh Posted August 22, 2012 Wow! This is really awesome work. Love the scene, and the emotions you've captured here. Can you explain how you did the lighting? I'm assuming a single LED, correct? What kind, and how are you powering it?
lego-maniac Posted August 22, 2012 the whole moc is on a 32X32 baseplate but the visible part is 30X26 Behind the wall of the cupboard there is 6 studs unused I've close the cupboard with black bricks and add official lego Led from 8293 I've tried a paint drawing : LED1 is in the hand of the kid with a kind of dish and LED2 is added on trans red round1X1 with trans red plate 1X1 that's all, hope I've reply to your request. Si-MOCs Posted August 23, 2012 Tres Bien! This is really fantastic. And scary! This definitely reminds me of when I was younger. And thank you for posting that paint diagram, I always like seeing how people do their builds. Helps me learn to build better!
Ceroknight Posted August 23, 2012 Poor Waldo! I really love this, and the Toy Story figures are scaled perfectly to be actual toys here
viracocha Posted August 23, 2012 Good job, lego-maniac ! I like the idea and how you have made the figures of the boy and the something behind the door! Some remarks on scene: it looks like staged photography. The most scaring side of view is from viewers side. Not from the boy! Very good idea to use toys from the Toy Story but to my opinion they should be placed in another not so accurate manner. Anyway the lighting scheme is well done! harton Posted August 24, 2012 Really love it. The window store is so simple and effective. Everything is well use and I don't need to talk about your photography. I got a lot to learn.
JoshThunder Posted August 24, 2012 WOW! Now thats creativity at its finest!!!!!!!! And now Im kinda scared of my closet at night
Praiter Yed Posted August 28, 2012 Cool MOC! I think the darker image creates a look of fear on the childs face that is lost slightly when you see the vignette in full light. The 'monster' positioning is fantastic, just looks like it's creeping from around the door and I love the stripy wallpaper. I think everybody has had moments of fear of dark and this captures the right amount of innocence and terror
Dannylonglegs Posted August 28, 2012 Oh my god! That's amazing! Very well done! The monster is quite terrifying. The room reminds me of the Doctor Who episode Night Terrors. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
