@JeanGreyForever@brickbride

Going off comics, a version of Doctor Strange worked for Doctor Doom, then betrayed him later. MCU Doctor Strange faced with the choice of giving Thanos the Time Stone knowing it'll cause suffering but that it's the only way they can actually win and save as many people as possible.

I see them redoing that as the potential motivation for Doctor Doom, and why Doctor Strange could join him, intentionally destroying the multiverse so they can eventually rebuild the multiverse better. Though Doctor Doom's version is obviously not an improvement as he's soured by egotism and a desire for revenge.

Given it has Mary Jane it's probably based on either the 'Festival' or 'Choice' scene and neither scene has him battle damaged. It's possible we get a battle damaged variant anyway, if so I'd like to see the half mask from the final battle.

r/MCUTheories - Official HQ version of the ‘AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY’ concept art

At the moment the first wave gave us 14 unique figures from the concept art poster so from the remaining figures you could do three sets covering the remaining 13 (14 as we'll throw in Namor)

Below is an example dividing the remaining main figures into three potential groups: A Wakanda Set, an X-Men set and a Multiverse Throne set. Obviously they'd likely throw in some re-uses of Doctor Doom and maybe others.

  1. Wakanda Set: Shuri
  2. Wakanda Set: M’Baku
  3. Wakanda Set: Torres Falcon
  4. Wakanda Set: Ghost – Thunderbolts
  5. Wakanda Set: Sue Storm – Fantastic Four
  6. Wakanda Set: Namor

  7. X-Men Jet: Professor X – X-Men
  8. X-Men Jet: Beast – X-Men
  9. X-Men Jet: Gambit – X-Men
  10. X-Men Jet: Shang-Chi

  11. Multiverse Throne: John Walker – Thunderbolts
  12. Multiverse Throne: Steve Rodgers
  13. Multiverse Throne: Ant-Man
  14. Multiverse Throne: Loki

You forgot the most important one:

And a so-so Buildable Popsicle (includes minifigures of all the missing characters from the initial Doomsday wave).

I agree I probably am coping around Avengerz Tower, difficult to translate its new look into a playscale set.

That Raimi Spider-Man vs. Green Goblin is my most anticipated set of the winter wave, especially as it’s confirmed GG will have a new helmet piece. I hope Spidey includes some much needed battle damage too to differentiate him from the existing sets with him.

That's pretty good- I'd buy the popsicle if the fig lineup was John, Ghost, Gambit, Loki or something.

You can at $140-180 I think, $110 is just too small of a price point to include the spires at.

It would be nice- presuming Mary Jane is kitbashed, would you rather have a battle-damaged spidey and a less detailed goblin, or a re-used spidey and goblin with arm printing, dual-molded helmet, the works?

Edit:

Some of these I just can't believe are in the movie. Others I could buy being small cameos, but a lot of those are ones I think will either be deliberate absences, have no place in the story, or in a few cases actors that I think are done.

I'll give lego props, that's a cool looking poster teaser.

I feel like if Secret Wars is truly going to be inspired by Hickman’s story there’s a good chance we can expect a Thor Corps Battlepack as one of the sets. That seems like such a marketable thing to do. Normal, Jane Foster and Beta Ray Bill vs a hero character.

Spoiler

If the rumours about Maguire are true then it’s obvious that Holland will take Miles’ place in the story. Which is a bit annoying for the same reason I’ve had some criticism of Lanterns. So I expect a set with the two of them.

Interestingly Star Lord and Strange are literally the only characters who actually have a decent chance of having a comic-accurate storyline in Secret Wars.

Alright, let's do this one more time:

67001 Spider-Man vs Demo-Goblin (82 pcs, likely $10): Spider-Man, Demo Goblin

67002 Scarlet Spider Mech (146 pieces, likely $15): Scarlet Spider, Lasher

67003 Thor vs Doom Mechs (237 pieces, likely $30): Thor, Doctor Doom, "female doom" likely Latverian Witch

67004 Spider-Man vs Green Goblin (240 pieces, likely $25, confirmed raimi based): Spider-Man, Raimi Green Goblin, Mary Jane

67005 Strange Supreme's Sanctum (814 pieces, likely $110 like the other modulars): Strange Supreme, Spider-Man, Zombie Thor/Iron Man/Wanda/Namor

67006 Marvel Skyline (1261 pieces, probably $100-130): Galactus minifigure, microfigures of Human Torch, Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Silver Surfer. Build includes Daily Bugle, Oscorp, Avengers Tower, the Baxter Building, Sanctum Sanctorum, the Fisk Tower, X-mansion and *possibly* the Roxxan Tower. Avengers Tower, Sanctum Sanctorum, and Baxter Building are the MCU designs, Bugle is the lego design.

67022 Spider-Man Buildable Logo (480 pieces, likely $40-60): Raimi Symbiote Spider-Man

67023 Jeff the Land Shark (495 pieces, likely $60-70)

You da Man(dalorian Knight), thank you.

I really hope they don't too much of a reset, I know they think they're making it simpler for casuals but I found that untrue in other examples like in certain comics and the CW arrowverse.

The reasoning of putting everything in one universe is pretty stupid because they chose to reuse the Fox X-Men and have the fantastic 4 in a separate universe, they did not have to do that.

Good question, I would go for the latter if that’s what the trade-off is. As much as over-detailed minifigures can defeat the point of Lego, GG’s design merits the works.

Some really cool announcements have come out of SDCC, as well as a convention-exclusive Doomsday trailer that is leaps and bounds better than the Cinemacon(?) one that was released last Monday. Leaks are floating about online but this trailer has raised my hype for the film.

I think it makes sense in this case. Unless they were going to do spider-verse miles- and I don't think the general audience is ready to see that sort of animation/live action mix in a "serious" movie (honestly I think even I would have a hard time with it), it'd just be dropping Miles into the MCU with secret wars, which would be absurd. The MCU's generally pretty loose with it's adaptions, so better to use the parallel they have. We know they have big plans for miles once Beyond wraps up- though seemingly it will be him and Peter working alongside eachother, not a replacement if Holland's serious about wanting to do this for as long as he can- but dropping him straight into secret wars would be a bit much. Lanterns I think is a different issue- it's not so much that they're introducing Jon too early as much as them killing Hal before we get any stories with him. It'd be like if we didn't have the Raimi or Webb films and then Spider-Man was killed halfway through Homecoming for Miles to take over.

That's about what I was thinking too.  He's a character who could really benefit from going all-out

I'll have to hunt that down. Weird that they didn't just wait for SDCC and release that trailer publicly- I felt the first trailer was really weak.

Pretty limited SDCC as far as marvel went- no new castings besides two that were already reported on by trades (Peggy and Deadpool), and only two new films. Black Panther lll is whatever to me- I'm glad we're getting T'Challa's adult son, but I really think they needed to recast before BP2- but the other.... oh man, the other

Gos%20Rider%20is%20real.png

I think the only two movies we could realistically have seen that I would have been more hyped for would be Thunderbolts 2 and Midnight Sons, and Midnight Sons has the caveat that it would need to include Gosling's Ghost Rider, so we're basically halfway there anyway.

High-res pictures of the sets and minifigs are out there! I’m really impressed by the minifigs! So many new faceprints, even for Yelena, Magneto, Sentry, and Mr Fantastic, and almost everyone has legprints!! The only ones that don’t are Thing with dual-moulded legs and Mr Fantastic with long legs. And they even brought back the “devil” tail piece!

These are peak!! Well, except for Bucky’s black hair  I wonder how people will move the goalposts to complain about them regardless :laugh_hard:

Thunderbolts 2

Is that a legit leak? Much as I'd like to see more of our favourite character, I thought the first movie just about broke even? Is that the new bar for "will get a sequel" these days?

And what about the F4? Much as I don't need to see more of them, they'd seem to me to be more likely to get a sequel given that more marketing, merch, and so on centers on them.

If they're doing an Infinity War style cliffhanger in Doomsday they might be limited in what they can announce. I.e. announcing Thunderbolts 2 would mean effectively announcing that most of the Thunderbolts won't come to harm in Doomsday, not permanently at least.

These minifigs do look really good and there's a lot of characters that they've either never done like Nightcrawler, Sentry and Mystiqueor only done once before like Doom himself, Alexi and Yelena.

If you were twisting my arm and forcing me to complain I'd say it's a shame Bucky does not have the red star on his non-metal arm because to me that's a big part of his AvengerZ design. Cyclops with the visor moulded into the hair would also have been epic, and Nightcrawler's tail part could've have printing at the front so it does give him and exposed midriff. But don't let those silly complaints fool you I know these are peak.

( The Bucky hair choice is also an inaccuracy but is a nob issue to me since I have plenty of that Dastan hair in dark brown and black is a useful colour to get it in so I'd just swap it over easy peasy).

Honestly taken in a vacuum the news doesn't mean much to me, I still don't see why the didn't recast T'Challa I don't think it would've been disrespectful to Chadwick or anything. But

Spoiler

the fact that they're still going on with T'Challa Junior rather than using the reset to recast does give me hope that the so-called universal reset won't be too extensive.

Only good Doomsday figures imo are Sentry,Nightcrawler,Magneto,Cyclops,Mystique,Human Torch,Doom, that Han Solo hair piece does not fit Yelena at all

Honestly the only figures from the official lineup that I care about are John,Steve and Gambit

The fact that they chose these phase 4,5 characters to be the avengers is crazy, the X-Men and Thor are carrying the team hard, I like Steve but he's just Captain Hammer Shirt guy now so whats the point, Replace everyone but the X-Men and Thor with Jean,Storm,Spider-Man,Wolverine,Deadpool,Doctor Strange,Hawkeye,Hulk,Moon Knight,Daredevil,Blade

Should have just recasted Black Panther sooner, little Shuri is funny

Marvel is trying so hard to make Yelena a thing, big mistake killing off Black Widow, honestly killing off Iron Man and having Cap retire was a big mistake, should have kept Tony,Steve,Widow until Secret Wars

Big miss that Steve will never fight the X-men as Cap

The Quinjet is just slop to me, Cyclops is the only good thing about it, The Sentinel and the Avengers Tower are the best sets even though the Tower looks squashed, if it was 1 floor higher than maybe it would look better

They probably dont want to take away from Sam lol, Ideally I wish it was just Steve, I liked Falcon and I feel the MCU did him dirty after Endgame

I think the Infinity War Cap suit will be good for a Doomsday Cap, it is Nomad inspired afterall

I will hate Lego if they don't make Deadpool for these Avengers films

The reason Punisher wasn't in the Spidey sets wasn't Lego's decision, apparently there's a rule where Punisher can't be in any of the Spidey merch so that is why his Hot Toys is just branded under Punisher and the Hasbro one is One Last Kill based

3 Playsets for Doomsday Wave 1 is very odd, why not 5 or 6

Only 1 set being in January is not a good sign and it's a mech

I hope there's more in Summer but idk

Oh man Ben and Johnny look so good (would still like something to make Ben feel bigger but this is so much better than the previous version) why couldn’t these have been the figs in the Galactus set! I’m probably one of the few people who doesn’t want the Ms Marvel arms for Reed, but I definitely prefer these legs  over the brick built ones.

Cyclops looks mostly great but the visor feels a bit off, either squashed or too low?

I have no real interest in the Thunderbolts (besides Sentry maybe) but their only real issue seems to be hairpieces which are an easy and cheap thing to fix. Thank god they didn’t do gaudy tracksuit Red Guardian.

After seeing Cyclops in the first teasers I was hoping for more comic accurate looks for Nightcrawler and Magneto but oh well, not LEGO’s fault and they’ve done an excellent job of them.

Sentinel looks good, the three armed feature is fun, will be getting it on discount and trying to bricklink some of the figs from the other sets if they aren’t crazy prices.

It also really sucks that this is our first and only Nightcrawler minifigure given he’s had a prominent role elsewhere with a much better design.

Give X-Men’97 a few years. I’m sure they’ll get round to AvX in good time with the way they’re speed running storylines (they do it quite well though)

It is funny that it's clearly in a New Avengerz livery but none of them are included.

Why does Mr. Fantastic look like Ted Lasso with a beard?

Anyway, I'm extremely impressed with those minifigure. Not only do all of them have leg printing, except for F4 ones, but there's quite a bit of dual-moulding too! I don't remember when we've gotten such a good minifigure wave in Marvel sets. The Avengers Tower is definitely the worst build. Partially to the movie design itself, but they didn't do a good job with it, honestly. Sentinel display puece is awesome, and frankly, I think the Quinjet's fine.

Overall, I'm really impressed with those sets.

same, I wish they would have just given him black or dark blue hair, instead of this awful gray hair look. They didn't bother with movie accuracy for Mystique, whose whole design looks better in Lego form than in the movie.

Me too. Never liked ScarJo, who is barely even an actress, and her Natasha was too Americanized and generic. Yelena's a lot more fun.

I'm glad someone else brought up that Yelena's hairpiece doesn't suit her at all. I kept trying to figure out who that character was before it hit me that it's supposed to be Yelena.

Agreed, it's very hard to be invested in a bunch of D-listers. Doomsday/Secret Wars would have been a lot more interesting if it really was all the core Avengers vs the core X-Men and a better FF. So many shocking omissions. Like Vision has been completely AWOL since WandaVision. He's an A-List Avenger and should be part of the cast.

I wouldn't have expected Cyclops to have a molded visor/hairpiece except one of the leaks was claiming he might have one and that raised my expectations, so the final product came across as disappointing. Not coloring the front of Nightcrawler's tailpiece is also annoying. They did it for Disney's Robin Hood in the CMF. One of the reasons why I always said Nightcrawler should be a CMF minifigure because he's got way too much detailing and printing that would need the CMF budget.

Aside from the tail and skin tone, the design just doesn’t scream Nightcrawler to me at all. Now, granted, that’s far more on the design team for Doomsday than Lego, but regardless, it’s disappointing for me.
