  1. Shrek looks really off because of his proportions. The actual Shrek set will have an advantage with the different body.
  2. Finally, although like you said, they won't fit in with the X-Men '97 designs. Is that rumor supposed to be for the opening of Doomsday or for Secret Wars? this seems to further confirm to me that Lego is holding back on the Fantastic Four for a reason. To not even get a single set with their ship really indicates that Lego doesn't feel they're profitable enough to carry their own set. Wonder if this means the Galactus set undersold. All good choices. I still think Oscorp would be the best bet for ASM2. We're due a new Spider-Man modular after the Daily Bugle, and an Oscorp Tower would be the next best choice as TASM films are the ones with the most iconic rendition of Oscorp. And like you said, Harry's Green Goblin and Gwen haven't had any minifig representation yet so any set that could feature them would be a likely choice. Electro seems the most likely to redo since he got a lot more popularity after NWH. I don't think First Class has any iconic setpieces or locations. DOFP was Sentinel-themed so it wouldn't really add anything that we aren't already getting from Doomsday with Sentinels. Maybe the future Sentinels in the Himalayas, since their design is at least different? Or the Quicksilver scene since that's rather iconic.
  3. I think the fact that there's nostalgia for the previous Spider-Man characters and the FoX-Men shows that there is demand for these characters. NWH and Doomsday both heavily marketed themselves on bringing back these original characters. That same nostalgia doesn't exist for the 2005 FF (even though I far prefer them to the MCU FF), Ben Affleck's Daredevil, Jennifer Garner's Elektra, Nicholas Cage's Ghost Rider, Thomas Jane's Punisher, etc. Which is why some of these characters have had cameos, like the Chris Evans Torch or Elektra, but they weren't used to shoulder a whole movie the way the Raimi/ASM or FoX-Men movies were. I personally never liked First Class. It didn't feel like an X-Men movie at all and it wasn't supposed to since it was meant to be a soft reboot after the Wolverine Origins movie failed and killed plans for more sequels and spinoffs. However, the film underperformed because audiences rejected the lack of the original cast. This is why Fox went straight to DOFP, bringing back the original cast, since they knew that was the hook. Suddenly, the soft reboot became a merging of the two universes and it worked because DOFP became the X-Men's highest-grossing movie. And I'm guessing a lot of Feige's decision-making in having the FoX-Men back in Doomsday is because he saw that DOFP was promoted as a last hurrah for the original cast and that helped the film succeed unlike the other installments which flopped with the new cast. Notice too that Doomsday isn't bringing back any of the rebooted characters from First Class. The X-Men's primary existence in pop culture has always been from two main sources: the 90s TV show and the FoX-Men movies, particularly the original trilogy, which succeeded in a time when superhero movies were still in their infancy and there was no MCU. Movies like Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Avengers, GOTG, Black Panther, etc. would not exist without the FoX-Men trilogy paving the way. There's a reason that for Doomsday, we're seeing that original movie cast but in the 90s outfits because they're essentially merging the two most well-known X-Men iterations. If the X-Men '97 sets aren't selling, I think it has more to do with the fact that the comic versions of the X-Men haven't been relevant in ages (literally since the 90s) and the new show doesn't have that large an audience. The Fox movies might still have a larger reach, at least after Doomsday. I think Lego is going to wait and see, the way they did with Raimi sets only after NWH was a success. Most of the merchandise I'm seeing for Doomsday has been X-Men centered. I think in part because Marvel has seen that Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four are not capable of carrying a movie and their merch isn't selling. Hence why Lego skipped Thunderbolts completely and only gave us one FF set. This is also why from day 1, I was saying that I don't think we're going to get a Baxter Building D2C set anytime soon. The FF are not a proven property and Lego is going to wait to see if they can became more popular with films like Doomsday/Secret Wars. Which is even what Marvel said, that despite FF not being the success they expected, they hope audiences will warm up to them after Doomsday/Secret Wars. Even the Sanctum Sanctorum D2C set only released after MoM. Lego didn't make it immediately after the first Doctor Strange. They must have seen that the character increased in popularity due to Infinity War and then NWH and that he was capable of headlining a modular set.
  4. I feel like the Raimi sets are popular enough that we could definitely get more than just one per movie. The Doc Ock hideout set is a great example. Also wondering if, when the Daily Bugle retires, if Marvel might consider remaking it in another D2C set but one based on the Raimi movie. It has a very different exterior which would make it stand out and they could basically include the entire trilogy's lineup of characters. Would also be a perfect companion set to a D2C Oscorp set based on TASM movies. They could shoehorn in Raimi Harry or his New Goblin incarnation in either one of these sets. TASM is also probably the most likely to get Lego set adaptations, besides the FoX-Men movies. Even though TASM isn't as popular as the Raimi movies, there was a new wave of nostalgia for TASM after NWH, particularly since Andrew Garfield's portrayal was considered the highlight of that movie. And to this day, we've never gotten a civilian Gwen Stacy minifigure (the Daily Bugle version is literally just a random minifigure they named Gwen Stacy at the last minute), so I think any set from TASM could easily feature her. People loved the Peter/Gwen dynamic in those movies thanks to Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone. I think people forget that the characters weren't in black leather all the time. Wolverine is just as iconic in his wifebeater with dog tags or in a leather jacket from those movies. We've never gotten a civilian Wolverine minifig surprisingly so he'd be very easy to implement. Jean has her red Dark Phoenix outfit from The Last Stand, which isn't far off from Wanda's Scarlet Witch outfit. Mystique has the iconic nude look since we know in Doomsday she's wearing an actual costume. Angel would be very easy to do since he's just shirtless with wings. I see plenty of MOC FoX-Men minifigures online so there must be some demand. The black leather looks are also identical enough from character to character that they could be easily reused. Something like Lady Deathstrike in her black outfit would be much easier to adapt than her classic comic outfit. The show doesn't get enough traction in terms of views. It's a very niche show which is why I don't think Lego is going forward with more sets. The ratings were good for an animated show on Disney+ but even the highest-watched animated shows don't come close to the lowest-watched live-action shows. I think X-Men '97 matched What If? and it's not like we have set after set of the What If? series. Or sets on the low-watched live-action shows like Secret Invasion or Echo or Ms. Marvel, which all still have been seen way more than X-Men '97. Even with the newly released season 2 of X-Men '97, it's been notable that there hasn't been much media attention. I'm seeing a lot less discussions online, whether on Twitter or Reddit or any social media, compared to the first season. Even here, I remember when the first season came out, there were weekly discussions about the show with every new episode. But S2's 3-episode premiere hasn't gotten any discussion in this thread so I think there's definitely been a noticeable viewer drop. Which is a pity, because Lego's X-Men lineup really feels incomplete without Nightcrawler, Jubilee, Angel/Archangel, Colossus, and Psylocke. Not to mention the lack of any villains outside of Magneto.
  5. They did make some good ones like the Winnie the Pooh set and the Snow White cottage. I don't know how those sold though. The Pooh set especially since designers talked about wanting to make more sets for other characters' houses, but we never got any. The Up house I remember was very popular. The BATB castle set was decent but way too small and a missed opportunity to make it the new flagship set. Tbh, I still haven't bought it. I'll have to get it soon since I think it retires by the end of the year. The Lilo & Stitch house I did skip, even as a big fan of the movie. I was completely disappointed with the build and the minifigs. The less said about TLM clamshell set, the better. For me, I've noticed that the quality of the sets has definitely downgraded, but also the minifigs themselves. Like they gave minidoll Wendy a bow in her hair, but not the minifigure version. Geppetto they just gave plain black legs instead of his usual lederhosen. Lilo and Nani they seemed completely confused on when it comes to hairpieces and coloring choices, like Nani wearing pink instead of orange. And they were willing to give Nani dual molded arms but not Lilo. Genie Jafar was missing the molded headpiece that the previous Genie minifigure did get. A lot of this skimping has made me unwilling to purchase certain sets. I think the issue is that while there have been minifigure sets still, most of them are just reusing the already popular characters so they're not offering anything new minifigure-wise. Such as Cruella's car or the new Lilo & Stitch set or the Pooh buildables with minifigures like you said. With Lilo, I think it's funny how we went years without any sets featuring her but once they made one minifigure for her, they've been reusing her or at least offering variations of her over and over. I did get Cruella's car, both for the car and for the Penny dalmatian. I think what people are upset about is that there's still hundreds of Disney/Pixar characters we don't have in Lego form. Like we should be able to get Christopher Robin or Owl or Roo in these Pooh sets. Jumbaa and Pleakley have been much requested. Still missing Prince Eric even though he pops up in so many minidoll sets. Same with the Fairy Godmother or Lady Tremaine or even Vanessa who finally got a minidoll. There's so many variations on existing characters we could get as well: Lilo in her hula dress, Aladdin as Prince Ali, Ariel as a human, Aurora in blue, etc. The Toy Story celebration train set I did pick up specifically because it gave us Bo Peep in her classic dress with the sheep. But that's been more the exception than the norm. And there's something ludicrous about the Toy Story tie-in sets not featuring Buzz at all. Particularly when (spoilers for the fifth movie)
  6. if that was the case, Kevin wouldn't be capitalizing on bringing back the original FoX-Men cast for Doomsday and using that as a marketing hook for one last chance to see them. The original trilogy is still well-regarded. Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is still one of the most popular superhero portrayals of all time and Wolverine has always historically been Marvel's 2nd most popular character after Spider-Man. There are several bad movies in the FoX-Men universe, namely the ones with the new rebooted cast (DOFP aside, which was the most successful at the box office specifically for bringing back the original cast), but even the MCU has plenty of horrible films to sift through. Particularly most of their filmography since Endgame. That's true and I don't think FoX-Men sets are necessarily likely but outside of the Raimi Spider-Man movies, they were the most popular non-MCU movies. Hence why Marvel was so quick to bring them into the fold with Wolverine and Deadpool, as they did with Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Man characters for NWH. So I don't think it would be impossible to see sets for them either, especially if there's positive reception to the FoX-Men in Doomsday. And while there is plenty of MCU material left to mine, most of it doesn't seem marketable from the new/upcoming movies. There hasn't been any merch demand for Thunderbolts and Marvel's been holding back on the FF, hoping that they get a popularity boost after Doomsday/Secret Wars, the way Doctor Strange got a boost post-Endgame. I don't think even an X-Men reboot is guaranteed to work. Marvel has historically not done well with their rebooted X-Men casts and the MCU has clearly lost their magic touch. I think it's just as likely the rebooted X-Men will end up faring as the FF movie did. Lego might feel it's a dying brand especially since they didn't feel the need to make more sets for the animated show/comics.
  7. With S2 of X-Men '97 out, it is a pity we aren't getting more sets. But considering how we didn't even get the complete character roster for S1, I don't think any potential S2 sets would have done much better considering the influx of new characters. Especially since it's looking likely that are joining the official team roster. Honestly, this trio of sets would be perfect, especially since you've managed to include all the core heroes and villains. If anything, the fact that it's so perfect is probably why we wouldn't ever get it lol. I just can't imagine getting 9-10 figures in a playline X-Men set, particularly since unlike the X-Mansion or regular MCU sets, they wouldn't be able to recycle any existing minifigs here (besides Xavier). If we ever did get your proposed set for the first movie, I think we'd only get 4-5 characters tops: Wolverine, Sabretooth, Magneto, Rogue, and possibly one other character. I don't know if we ever will get any FoX-Men sets but I think after the Raimi Spider-Man movies, they'd be the most likely candidates for non-MCU Marvel movies. Hopefully whatever X-Men inclusion in the Doomsday sets sell well enough to show there's demand for the FoX-Men in Lego. Like how we didn't start getting more Raimi sets until after the NWH set came out.
  8. I guess the minifig sets really don't sell well enough to justify making more of them. All these buildable figures are being made for a reason and I guess for Disney fans, rather than Lego fans in general, the buildable figures are easier to display and show off in their collections rather than minifigs. Most of which are scattered in retired sets and CMF waves anyway.
  9. I forgot about the rating. I think that's the big difference between Spider-Man and Wolverine here and why it's unlikely Lego would touch Wolverine since he's not as family friendly. For the same reason we shouldn't expect anything from Punisher, Deadpool, or Daredevil. There is an X-Men Insomniac sequel to the Wolverine game which could potentially get represented by Lego assuming this franchise does well. There are certain parallels to that game plus what we seem to be getting of the X-Men in the MCU which could be capitalized on for the synergy of it all. But I guess that'll also depend on how strong the X-Men brand is by the time that game and the movies come out. The animated show really hasn't done well on Disney+, not even coming close to the lowest-watched live-action shows like Echo, so clearly we shouldn't expect animation to revive the X-Men brand. I think that's also a big factor on why Lego hasn't touched the X-Men again after the few initial sets they made, since the show's ratings were not strong enough to justify more merch.
  10. the black leather costumes are iconic enough that I think we could or should get at least one minifigure set out of it. Even if it was just Wolverine in his suit. I agree about the lack of setpieces. Alkali Lake was the major one but that doesn't really work as appropriate subject matter for any of the sets. Torture/brainwashing chambers, prison cells for children, the dark Cerebro meant to kill all mutants or humans, Lady Deathstrike's fight with Wolverine where she's pumped with liquid adamantium, etc. I think Liberty Island could be easily done since they just have to focus on the head of the Statue of Liberty, with the Wolverine vs Sabretooth duel and Magneto's machine. I don't think anyone would expect them to include the world leaders who Magneto was targeting. For example, the World Unity Festival from the first Raimi Spider-Man movie actually has Green Goblin kill some characters but we still got a Lego set from that when the first movie came out and that was much more explicit. Also the obvious choice would be a Blackbird set, maybe with a basketball court (although based on likely low sales for the current X-Jet set, maybe it's unlikely we'll get a movie version anytime soon). They could theme it to the first movie for a small roster of Wolverine, Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm. Or to the second movie for Wolverine, Jean Grey, Storm, Nightcrawler, Rogue, Iceman, and Pyro. Jean's house from the third movie could also be a possible set piece since it featured the Wolverine vs Juggernaut fight and could have a lot of play functions like exploding mechanisms. I don't know if they'd include Xavier or not since he only has a physical death but doesn't really die. I think it depends on how well the public takes to this new iteration of X-Men. We've already seen the MCU fail with the Fantastic Four and Marvel hasn't been pushing them in merch as much as initially predicted. The other issue with the X-Men is that the public really only took a shine to the 90s animated series version and the original FoX-Men trilogy. There's basically been two reboots since then (the First Class series and the Apocalypse/Dark Phoenix generation) and neither took off. So it's equally as likely that yet another X-Men generation could be rejected and Marvel seems way more careful with who they make merchandise of after their consecutive MCU failures since Eternals. The Spider-Man Insomniac games were very impactful and had some Lego presence, mainly with minifigures, so I don't know it would be unheard of for Wolverine to get similar treatment if the game is popular. Especially since Wolverine has always been Marvel's 2nd most popular character after Spider-Man. If nothing else, it would be easy for Lego to make more Wolverine-themed sets (like set in the Savage Land, Japan or Madripoor) and feature some of his classic villains who we still don't have minifigures of like Mystique, Sabretooth, Lady Deathstrike, Omega Red, Silver Samurai, etc.
  11. it's actually coming out in just a few days. The first three episodes premiere on July 1st. When the X-Mansion set came out and everyone was discussing what possible X-Men sets/minifigs we'd get next, there were some leaks posted about how Lego was waiting before making more sets, as they wanted to see how well the ones they already made would sell. The dearth of X-Men sets makes me wonder, especially since the X-Mansion is arguably the most criticized superhero modular set. I wonder if this also means we shouldn't expect a future X-Mansion set based on the FoX-Men movies when the current one retires. I think only Deadpool and Wolverine are still relevant but not the rest of the X-Men (although that might change based on the Insomniac game and the MCU movies). There's a reason we're getting Raimi Spider-Man sets but we haven't ever gotten a FoX-Men set on any of the original movies. Otherwise they could easily make a Liberty Island set from the first movie or something with the Golden Gate Bridge or Alcatraz from The Last Stand. I don't think that's likely. The showrunner for the first season confirmed that Marvel had a strict mandate that Deadpool could not appear in the show.
  12. Superhero deaths are always marketed by Marvel (and I imagine DC) as well for being permanent but they're usually retconned within a few years like you said. Gwenpool confused me from the beginning because I couldn't understand if she was some Gwen variant or if she was just named after her. I heard it was the latter but that makes less sense now if this new/returned Gwen is also a Gwenpool. I think it depends on the style of animation and how prevalent the character design from the animation is compared to other versions of the character. Like with Rogue, most people view her as a brunette so a lot of people didn't like the orange hair they gave her, even though that's accurate to X-Men '97. With Cyclops, he has orange hair in the show and even in the first Lego Marvel Super Heroes game but most people don't seem to view that as anymore accurate than the dark brown hair he got in his Lego sets. Reddish brown hair is the norm for him in the comics and movies. I think the face and the hairstyle look more like the Insomniac version. Even disregarding the hair color, the hairstyle he has in the Oscorp set doesn't reflect his hair from the comics or even the Raimi movies. Like the NWH set did a good job of portraying a hairstyle that looks like Raimi's Norman, even if the color was too dark.
  13. Wow, didn't realize they just brought her back. Although there's been multiple attempts to bring her back in the past but none of them stuck so curious if this one will. The thing about colors in animation and comics is that they're exaggerated or oversaturated in order to look better and more appealing. Like blonde hair is not really canary yellow but you'll see it portrayed as canary yellow in animation rather. Natural red hair is more orange but in comics, redhead characters like Jean Grey, MJ, Mystique, Black Widow will either have bright red hair or dark red hair with black highlights. Black hair is often portrayed as dark blue even if characters in-universe will acknowledge that character as having black hair instead of the blue it looks like to us (the Miraculous Ladybug kids show has a protagonist with blue hair but it's described as black in the show. Nobody in the show says she has blue hair, but blue hair is more kid friendly than black. Kids shows and toys use primary colors like bright red, yellow, and blue because they test better with kids). With comics in particular, colors were often disputed. Spider-Man's costume was red and black originally. Blue highlights were used on the black portions of his costume and that gave the appearance that his costume was really blue, hence now why his colors are automatically seen as red and blue which don't even fit a spider like red and black do. The X-Men's costumes were yellow and black but the blue highlights made their uniforms look blue, which is why the X-Men's team colors are now gold and blue. Storm's 90s costume was actually a shiny black but the metallic highlights made it look silver or white and the 90s TV show mistook her costume as white and that's how they portrayed it and pop culture associates her costume as white now. MJ is referred to as a redhead in most media whereas the Osborns never are, even if their hair looks reddish in some lighting. Even dark blonde in the Raimi movies when Norman or Harry are seen under the sun, since light brown hair can look the most inconsistent in different lighting, whether blonde, red, or brunette. Rogue's Lego minifig was a weird case because they went with show accuracy to give her more orangey hair but Cyclops they went the opposite direction with. His hair is also orange/red in the show, sometimes rivaling the red of Jean's hair color (but nobody will call him a redhead or Rogue a redhead in the show, like they call Jean one) but Lego used dark brown for his hair. Considering Rogue and Cyclops are in the same set, it's even more jarring that they got opposite treatments. Most people swapped out Cyclops' hair to give him reddish brown hair which is more comic accurate and I've seen most people who replaced Rogue's hair give her dark brown hair (like Agatha's hair). But Lego was pretty inconsistent with the X-Men minifigs in general. Like Jean and Bishop have dark blue minifigs instead of the medium shade of blue the rest of the team has. For Jean, it still somewhat makes sense because her outfit is dark blue with medium blue highlights which does make her costume look darker than the rest of the team's, but Bishop's costume has always been a very medium/bright shade of blue. No idea why they went so dark with his minifig. Then with Magneto, he wears a dark purple costume with black highlights but they went with an overly saturated and light shade of purple for his minifig in the X-Jet set. Presumably since those bright colors were more kid friendly and less villainous looking. And going back to Norman, Lego gave him dark brown for his NWH minifig even though his hair is never that dark in the Raimi movies.
  14. Unfortunately this has been the norm rather than the exception for a while now. Didn't realize they retconned the Green Goblin to be an actual demon instead of a mental condition. This reminds me of when Nightcrawler was given an actual demon as his father. I know the whole Peter/MJ stuff is a mess right now and Marvel seems as determined as possible to ruin that relationship and butcher her character. The funny thing is that even back in the 60s, Stan Lee preferred Gwen over MJ and tried his best to make readers follow suit. He wrote MJ out and then when he was forced to bring her back due to popular demand, chopped her hair off for an ugly perm in hopes people would dislike her now. Didn't work so she got her normal hairstyle back. At least Stan gave up on making readers hate MJ and ended up being crucial in getting the Peter/MJ wedding which Marvel torpedoed. That's a good idea. Are you sure? I think brown hair just has a tendency to come across as red in certain lighting but I've never seen Norman depicted as a redhead and I looked back at the Insomniac game, and you're right that it's just brown that comes across as auburn in certain lighting. In the 60s, he had the exact same hairstyle as Sandman who's always been seen as a brunette. In the Raimi films, which I rewatched in theaters a month ago so they're fresh, his hair is also brown, albeit somewhat light brown. There's a reason the NWH minifigure gave him brown hair although it's too dark and should have been reddish brown. In animated TV shows, brown hair often is portrayed as more reddish to look more appealing. Look at how Rogue's hair is basically scarlet in X-Men 97. Same with Cyclops whose hair comes across as orange. But the only actual redhead on the show is Jean. Same with Norman. Compare him to MJ in all those media and you can see the stark difference between her red hair and reddish brown hair. Good point, it is telling they never had a full-fledged ride even in the late 90s. Nightcrawler and Mystique are in the movie but don't have minifigs yet. So they're likely candidates.
  15. And honestly speaking, the X-Men brand hasn't been all that strong since the 90s/2000s. Even in the comics, the Avengers started to eclipse the X-Men in popularity years before the MCU and the whole Fox movie rights issues. The only X-Men movie that ever made a billion was Deadpool & Wolverine, which shows that it's these two specific characters who are the moneymakers rather than the team as a whole. Lego assuming anything with an X-Men brand would instantly sell was a mistake. They've made a similar mistake with the FF set. They assumed that because fans have been asking for the FF and Galactus for years, that they could make an overpriced set with barebones figures and little to no accessories, let alone a Fantasticar, and it would be an instant seller. I'd love to see sales figures for that set because I have a strong inkling it's probably also failed to catch on. I had to look that up and I guess that is a real thing now. No wonder Ultimate Spider-Man was selling better than Amazing Spider-Man lol. Uncle Ben would probably be made up of completely reused parts anyway, so his lack of minifig doesn't bother me. Captain Stacy's also mostly known for his death but he did last longer in the comics, and appeared in at least two movies, only dying in one of them (ASM) so I can see why they didn't mind including him. Especially being a police officer, he's easy to integrate in a set. It's pretty telling that we could get Captain Stacy but not his daughter in her classic 616 incarnation to this day. I agree, I doubt we'll ever get Richard Parker. I think Mayday/Spider-Girl could one day get get a minifig and I'm a little surprised we haven't gotten her already. Technically we have her baby form in the Spider-Verse CMF but it's strange that they've never made a proper Spider-Girl minifig considering how popular she was in her prime and how for the longest period, she was the female Marvel character with the longest ongoing solo title. Norman Osborn isn't a redhead though but the Insomniac version is, and the Lego minifig took a hairstyle heavily modeled off his depiction there. He's even got a black striped suit in the game so I think the implication was that they were using that version since he looks nothing like the Raimi version or the comic version. And we've seen how they've pictured the comic version of Norman in the Daily Bugle billboards so there's precedent for what a comic version of Norman could look like in minifigure form. With Spider-Man, Lego seems comfortable drawing from whatever popular sources of media there are, hence why we can get a set with an Ultimate Green Goblin, an Insomniac Norman, while using modern characters like Spider-Gwen and Miles and having a separate CMF series modeled on the Spider-Verse movies. Based on how Lego has been so reluctant to do more than one set for recent MCU releases (or in the case of Thunderbolts, no sets whatsoever), I don't think there's any guarantee that any future X-Men movies will get the star treatment. I'd expect 1-2 sets as tie-ins max, with the main focus still on MCU Avengers movies like Endgame, Civil War, Age of Ultron and the usual Spider-Man sets. I'm glad you liked it. I had high hopes but wasn't a fan myself, preferring the 2005 and 2007 movies. Agree with you, was never super fond of the MCU. I think it's possible a Doomsday/Secret Wars set could feature a Fantasticar since I'd imagine it'll show up in one or both of these movies. If we get the real Silver Surfer in Secret Wars, then we might get a chance for a minifig. I don't know if he'll be a priority though based on how many characters are supposed to show up in that movie. Here's hoping.
  16. Completely understand. I did splurge on the X-Jet just to do my part in showing there's a market for X-Men sets but it probably wasn't worth it. And the X-Mansion was completely lacking in terms of minifigs and the size. Which is a pity because the mansion's interior is really well done but it's so undersized and very evident if you put it next to any other set, particularly the modulars. Reminds me of the DC Arkham modular and how people have to buy two of them to combine them to make something more impressive. Honestly, I think you put more thought into the whole thing than the set designers probably ever did lol. But I'd like to think they were more on your wavelength to try and explain why Spider-Man suddenly has so many vehicles and expendable income, hence the gold detailing. That makes sense. Honestly, when I first saw the minifig, I thought it was some original design since the obviously evil face threw me off. An attempt to modernize the Green Goblin since they like to use modernized outfits for their villain minifigs (Doc Ock, Vulture, Kraven, Mysterio, etc.) Didn't realize until later it came from the Ultimate comics. Spider-Man has a black suit in the Ultimate comics (worn by his son) so I wonder if they could get away with the "taboo" on black suit Spider-Man if they technically gave us his son as a minifig since it wouldn't be Peter Parker's Spider-Man. Uncle Ben is alive in the Ultimate comics too which would be a nice way to get a minifig for him, but I don't expect they'll dip into that well again. They seem to pick and choose what Spider-Man media they like to represent between the Insomniac Norman in the same set as Ultimate Green Goblin, along with a whole CMF line dedicated to the Spider-Verse movies. And now the Raimi movies getting their own sets.
  17. Even as an X-Men fan, I waited months to get both the X-Jet and the X-Mansion because the pricing and lack of quality meant neither were a main priority. And I remember a lot of posts here mentioned skipping out on the X-Jet altogether. The X-Mansion works fine as a standalone set but when you compare it to something like the Natural Museum set, you realize how badly it pales in comparison. I'd rather they stick with the classic colors. Like the Spider-Buggy in the Daily Bugle set which came from the 70s comics. It's more consistent with his overall color scheme. I think Rhino depends if they're willing to include him as just the minifigure without the mech he's in. Mysterio seems very likely especially since I didn't realize he'd been missing from sets for so many years. For them to finally bring him back now, it's likely that was done with the purpose of dropping him in more sets. They changed the face to make him look more villainous. But a heroic Green Goblin in the first Oscorp set we've gotten probably wouldn't have made much sense and would have been way too confusing for most people who don't follow the comics. Honestly, no other Marvel comic has gotten the level of promotion or media attention that USM did so I can see why Lego went out of their way to include a minifigure from that but no other modern Marvel run which will usually end up cancelled within a year. Comics are incredibly niche now and basically just used as a wellspring of more material for the movies. When Disney first bought Marvel, they seriously considered shutting down the comic publications since they're not lucrative enough.
  18. People have been suggesting that sales for the X-Jet and X-Mansion have been pretty soft due to being overpriced and the lack of minifig quality. I think the X-Jet was even marked down a few times so that makes me think there's no real incentive for Lego to keep making more X-Men sets if that's true. Especially since someone posted here or in the leaks thread about how Lego was waiting to see the profitability of the current X-Men sets before bothering to make more. The MCU has two of the biggest releases so all Marvel sets in 2026 will likely focus on Spider-Man and Avengers like you said. I wouldn't expect anything X-Men related outside of Doomsday minifigs. There's no more Marvel CMF series based on the Disney+ shows so that also makes it unlikely we'll get any more X-Men '97 minifigures. That makes sense although as someone who doesn't care for the Iron Man/Spider-Man connection that the MCU really focuses on, it's probably why I don't care for the gold detailing on Spider-Man and his paraphernalia. Yes, thankfully! If we do get a Spider-Man modular set next year, I'd expect one or both to reappear, particularly Mysterio. Ultimate Goblin shocked me because it was so unexpected. I think Lego made a rare exception here just because of how critically acclaimed and commercially successful the new Ultimate Spider-Man series was, even selling better than the main ASM title for almost a full year. I can see Marvel pushing for this minifigure for that reason, but no other new title or costume design will probably get that level of hype. Kraven reusing Dr. Strange's head got a lot of criticism. I use Whiplash's head for Kraven.
  19. Is there an Oscorp building in the first Spider-Man movie? There was one in Amazing Spider-Man but I don't recall one in the Raimi movie. Just the Osborn's home and some facility/lab where Norman works. If you'd like to be safe, you could wait until the summer. Usually by then, we know what the next modular is and if we're getting an Oscorp modular set next year or not. This current Oscorp set isn't retiring yet. It's possible one or two of the minifigs might remain exclusive (maybe the Norman one or the Ultimate Green Goblin one).
  20. Lovegood house is amazing. Can't believe it's taken us this long to finally get it. Is this the first time the house points hourglasses were made in an official set? His exclusion in sets keeps getting brought up here but it's never surprised me. He's never been as popular as Harry and Hermione, who represent the male and female leads of the franchise. Ron comes across as expandable in comparison to them. His merch getting skipped out on seems to confirm that he doesn't sell as well as the other two. I remember reading some stats on which HP characters sold the most wands and Harry and Hermione were #1 and #2 and there were a bunch of other characters who sold more than Ron like Dumbledore, Voldemort, Luna, Draco, etc. When it comes to other HP toy brands, I've noticed they skip out on Ron there as well to focus on Harry, Hermione and other female characters so it's not just a Lego thing.
  21. Spider-Man 3 set is amazing. Would have liked the final battle scene so we could get MJ and Harry/New Goblin but including Venom in this Spidey vs Sandman fight really helps make up for that. Really hope this means that later in the year or in 2027, we can get a set on the first Raimi movie with the Green Goblin. The emphasis of these Raimi sets seem to be on the villains. Daily Bugle set is nice and reminds me of the first one Lego made. Rhino and Mysterio both look decent although I find it funny that J. Jonah Jameson keeps getting a different hairpiece in every set now. They can't seem to decide what to use for him. I agree with everyone else that constantly shoehorning both Gwen and Miles in every set is plain annoying now. They have literally no connection to the Daily Bugle anyway. I'd even rather have more civilian minifigs with reused parts over them at this point. Venomized Cap getting dual molded legs is insane considering Lego never gives his regular minifig that treatment. Ghost Rider set is okay but I was expecting more. As a Wolverine fan, I'm actually interested in getting a Symbiote version of him. The Spidey car is really bad though. The gold detailing seems really out of place because comic Spidey doesn't wear gold. The car's color scheme seems a closer fit to MCU Spider-Man. I guess J. Jonah Jameson's balding hairpiece counts as a new minifigure lol. That's true about Aunt May although I wonder if she's just way too iconic (the old version of her anyway) that they feel she can conflict with the MCU version and not cause problems with synergy. Although the same can be said about MJ but Disney/Marvel might have been more worried about the racial implications of "replacing" her by continuing to promote the original version. And in general, Marvel's always had an axe to grind against MJ. But in comparison to Flash anyway, Aunt May is a lot more iconic and a household name which is probably why there hasn't been any desperate need to make a Flash minifig. Eddie Brock gets to basically be every Venom there is, between the original, Anti-Venom, and now Carnage. Had no idea MJ is Venom now but like what was said by someone else, I can see that becoming a future minifig if the comic version has gotten any traction. My guess is that the new comic designs (like Ultimate Green Goblin) are only prioritized if it's an especially popular run or character design that's taken off.
  22. I have high hopes for Rhino but considering Lego's track record, I probably shouldn't. The minifigure for him in that mech set was terribly done. I could see us getting something more like that again. We know the Daily Bugle set didn't include MJ because Marvel felt she didn't synergize with the MCU version and they didn't want to "confuse" people. So I wonder if the lack of Flash Thompson is for similar reasons that the comic version doesn't resemble the MCU version they're promoting now. That's my best guess for Flash. As for his Agent Venom iteration, it was probably a similar case where they didn't want to use a Venom who's retired from the comics and not the one being promoted in the movies. Wouldn't synergize with the classic Eddie Brock Venom they've been pushing again (a bit like how the 2000s was pushing Mac Gargan as Venom). They only just gave us Anti-Venom for example.
  23. Really happy we're getting a Grey Lady who will presumably be based on the original design from the first two movies.
  24. Rhino is promising and it'll be nice to see Mysterio again, even if I doubt he'll have leg and arm printing. Venomized Captain America is a joke but the least surprising part of the set. Lego seems obsessed with this idea of venomizing every character they can think of. Agent Venom has a pretty different design than Symbiote Spidey though. Venom (Eddie) is closer to Symbiote Spidey and there's no shortage of his minifigs. I think the lack of Agent Venom has more to do with him not being a thing in the comics anymore so Marvel doesn't see the need to promote him. Also why we've never gotten a regular Flash Thompson minifig.
  25. Honestly, you probably put more thought in what the civilian characters would wear in a potential Lego set than Lego themselves. Like how the Spider-Man 2 set randomly included J. Jonah Jameson and Aunt May with Aunt May not even wearing an outfit that comes from the movie. Lego will just reuse random torsos for characters like Peter, MJ, Harry, Eddie, Gwen, etc. MJ's supposed to be in her waitress outfit in the final battle but they'll probably recycle any female torso that they're currently using in another set.
