For me this set is one of the best in the category of novelties 2013!

In a set only pluses - two cars; the interesting wrecker (it is very similar on our Gazell), which can be remade in any other truck (as I will make when I will get the second same); more various minifigs!

I wait for your comments!

Excuse me for my bad English!

Great review "mifody"! Your English was pretty good too. No mistakes besides minor grammar mishaps. The pictures you provided made me think twice about skipping this set. It is actually very nice.

Thanks 'mifody' for a great review of a great vehicle :sweet: , but why is a four wide car doing with a 6 wide wheel base again ?

The truck I do like.....sort of reminds me some truck MOC built a few years back.....oh, wait that was me !

Perfect addition to the 2012 series and the parking garage too......though I feel the cement truck is slightly better, but I will be buying all of them anyway....sort of hooked on City stuff you see.

Brick On Review On 'mifody' !

I've never understood why Lego insist on Blue flashing lights on their recovery vehicles instead of Orange, or yellow. In England Blue is reserved for Fire/Police/Ambulane, I guess it comes from which ever country they are copying the vehicle from, which must use Blue lights?

It's an easy Mod though, so nothing to worry about, I just wondered which countries use Blue lights on their recovery vehicles?

We have this set also, just purchased this week and my son enjoyed the build and the flat bed tow truck is his new favorite. Your review is very well done, good job.

I'd personally give this set a 8/10, the maroon cars color is very nice, IMO. The figs are nothing new, but do the job just fine.

It seems like blue lights on pretty much everything. I am planning, at some point, to replace all my lights on non-Police vehicles with the "US" colors.

Good, review, by the way. I definitely want this set.

Thanks to all for your comments!

I hope that lady has a screaming face printed on the back, I've never seen someone that happy to have their car towed lol

We have in Russia wreckers too with orange lights!

I second the comment about the lights. Blue seems to be for emergency/police vehicles exclusively here as well. The trucks and wreckers I see have orange/yellow lights. Anyway, I bought this set at TRU's BOGO 50% off City sale this week. It's a solid vehicle with a nice array of orange parts. The car is a bit different than the standard design also, which is good, and the lady's hairpiece in that color is new for me since I never got any Avengers sets.

I think the reason for the blue lights on service trucks like this one in LEGO is for an obvious reason: so the color will stand out from the trucks' color schemes. Orange lights would blend in. Reality has NEVER been the sole factor in the design of LEGO City vehicles, and while it certainly plays a role (a purple fire engine would never fly), kids probably won't be as worried about the accuracy of the light colors as they will be about how attractive the vehicles look. In that sense, using a complementary blue is the natural conclusion for a fleet of bright orange service trucks.

I could see that the woman would get her car towed during a live stop (see Parking Wars - like forgetting her drivers license or proof of insurance, etc)

....and have a face that is very upset...

I remade the wrecker a little!

0_97d7a_fe119177_XL.jpg

Forward part I left without changes because it and so perfectly left at Lego!

0_97d7b_8992b37f_XL.jpg

The first changes - flashers I made, as well as it is necessary, orange:

0_97d7c_db21332e_XL.jpg

But the main changes happened to a platform!

0_97d7d_d3cc59ed_XL.jpg

I added additional leaning-back platforms for car loading \unloading, there was emphasis in front of the winch, added a small suitcase with tools, slightly changed (I simplified rather) the winch, added small boards on a platform, cleaned a tsvetastost under a platform!

0_97d7e_a2336e93_XL.jpg

0_97d7f_2506b83e_XL.jpg

0_97d80_65dd1b9d_XL.jpg

0_97d81_65c6b42_XL.jpg

0_97d82_121a3d9c_XL.jpg

0_97d83_ab933973_XL.jpg

0_97d84_61466393_XL.jpg

0_97d85_6b6773e9_XL.jpg

0_97d86_2104b3d0_XL.jpg

Now the evacuated car plunges on a platform smoothly, touching nothing with bumpers!

To a meeting on LegoCity roads!
