  1. If you liked building and programming functions with Mindstorm, something newer with Powered UP like 42100 might be the way to go.
  2. White glue would work. It can also be peeled off the LEGO plastic leaving no marks.
  3. You can run the PU and Control+ apps on a cheap Android tablet. No need to for a phone. Depending on where you are and where you're buying from, shipping can get expensive on Bricklink. Have to factor that into your costs. PF have extension cables, PU does not have official LEGO ones at the moment. That could limit how far you can place your motors and PU hubs.
  4. It also happened with the Technic Forum last week or so. @Jim temporary fix was to apply the Star Wars theme.
  5. PID control? Where is the fun in that? Kids like seeing train crashes at LUG events especially when the AFOL train driver was too busy chatting with the kids' moms to notice the curve of death at the bottom of the hill. I experimented with PU color sensor to indicate slow and fast sections with different color plates/tiles on the tracks.
  6. Maybe it is like that Masked Singer show?
  7. I use whatever parts I have on hand that aren't already used in another MOC.
  8. Brighter colors could be in continuity with ye old fan designed blacksmith shop of nearly 19 years ago. Wonder how much this one was altered from the original design submission.
  9. I don't think that is possible with the firmware in the train hubs. There can only be one "master" at a time as your testing showed. You could connect the hubs and remotes to the Arduino. The Arduino would pass-on the commands from the remotes or override them as required, like man in the middle (MTM) positive train control (PTC). Legoino works with the ESP32 microcontroller. I don't know if it works with Arduino plus an external bluetooth module. There are Legoino code examples of connecting multiple hubs and remotes to it.
  10. You can do this using the Powered UP app and create your own custom control. Your phone or tablet can connect to the train hub and remote control. If you prefer Arduino, you can use an ESP32 module and the Legoino library.
  11. Thanks Jim. May the Force be with you.
  12. Maybe to get us Technic users to visit other parts of Eurobricks. I tried Chrome and didn't work for me either.
  13. Which browser are you using to view the Technic Forum? It's not working on Firefox.
  14. It's possible to daisy chain dumb PU motors together. It is much easier to daisy chain with PF. PF worked better for GBCs unless you need to program some sort of sequence. PF had lower operating costs as the motors were cheaper to replace when they burn out (cost of doing GBC). That's probably going to change when PF parts get scarce. :-(
  15. Would Legoino work for that? https://github.com/corneliusmunz/legoino
  16. I think you'll have to create your own controls in the Power UP app to drive it.
  17. Welcome aboard, Andrei. The spec sheet say min high 2.3V. Test and see if you don't need to use a 3.3V / 5V logic converter.. :-) .
  18. Merry Christmas. I used to paint model trains when I was younger and could see the small fine details.
  19. I've seen that happened on my 3D printer where high electric current was going through a loose connector. It arc'ed and melted the plastic connector. Make sure your chinese connector has a soild electrical connection with your PF connector. With great current comes great melt.
  20. PU App updates can problematic. Twice the PU App stopped working on my smart device after a new update. Later PU App updates worked on it again. Once I had to do a live demo and was SOL. Turning off auto-updates on the smart device when I had a LEGO event would have been the smart thing to do. Maybe PF can be saved if you can get help from that Germany peace group who managed to stop the Osprey set. Smart devices can run apps used for modern warfare like controlling remote armed robots, calculating artillery round trajectory, etc.
  21. Why not use AC to DC adapters for static displays and don't have to deal with recharging batteries? When outside away from an AC wall outlet, one can use a simple inverter with 12V batteries. Lead acid battery is better at keeping the picnic table cloth from flying away in strong winds too.
  22. Interesting. Do you have pics of how LEGO is connected to the micromotor?
  23. I think they sell them in minimum quantities of 1000 or 10000. You may have to send them a request for quotation (RFQ).
  24. Fantastic job with the shaping and colours.
