  3. I like your observation car. It's very presidential. Those type of hinges are hard to open when the doors are in the middle of the car. They seem to work better when the door is at the end.
  4. If they didn't do another production run after that email, then it can be considered last chance as no more will be produced. If they are still in stores months after the email then it probably means no one is really buying them and they have inventory stock sitting around doing nothing. Hmm, how long before the fire sale to make room in the stores and warehouses?
  5. Welcome aboard, Ezri.
  6. That's true. I try to stick to simple MOCs in the style that LEGO would make and use mostly parts from the Pick A Brick Wall. It seems like the more detailed, the more expensive it gets too. I guess compared to Bricklinking all those train buffers and wheels and tracks separately. I managed to reuse most of the 60052 train and non-train parts in MOCs and other things. In that sense it was a good buy.
  7. They look good. J.B. Hunt brings back some old memories.
  8. NPU. Is that the Statue of Liberty head and Alien brain sucker?
  9. Experiment from last year. I think I have long wavy and long with curves on regular minifigs. Friendly Pirates by dr_spock_888, on Flickr
  10. I use the numbered bags if available. If bags aren't numbered then it's search the pile. For 10030 UCS ISD, I did a quick rough sort into different piles. Otherwise, it could be like looking for a needle in a haystack for the smaller pieces.
  11. LEGO is made from ABS plastic which contains flame retardants.
  12. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogPG.asp?P=64951&colorID=88 They also come in lavender and medium blue if you want to build the pink version that Blackbird rendered for DrJB.
  13. I wouldn't buy the red cargo for myself either. It could make a nice first train set for my nephew for his next birthday. It has everything to get started in the box (except AAA batteries). My 60052 set has turned into an expensive parts pack. The only things left intact are the gantry crane and fork lift. MOCing is a terrible disease that can eat away at your sets.
  14. Cool. I seem to recall that something like this done when the girlfriend was away previously. Were the trains automated?
  15. Interesting idea. You can probably hide the mechanism inside a locomotive slug or tender. Not sure if you really need to use two LAs. I think one would have sufficent force to separate the couplers. But if you have many LAs sitting around, I guess why not use them.
  16. Bartering or hagging over price is normal business procedure in other parts of the world. It is not common in North America from what I understand. It doesn't hurt to ask about volume discount.
  17. Interestingly this photo popped up on Railpictures.net yesterday. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=531533&nseq=121 Looks like your blue one with the lightning stripe but in red.

  19. Welcome to Eurobricks.
  20. There is a buy, sell, trade forum on EB. Ebay is not the best place to shop for LEGO but it is great for cheap electronic components such as microcontrollers for a non-LEGO solution to control your Technic.
  21. The lower price bracket could mean someone who can't afford the $200 freight train might be able to get a freight train instead of a high speed passenger train for $150. Maybe a bit easier for fixed income grandparents to get for grandkids.
  22. I wonder if there is any correlation between release of build instructions and demand on balls. They are 98 cents CAD on Bricks and Pieces. At one time they were under 30 cents CAD on BrickLink.
