Oshkosh 10x10 PLS
dr_spock replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Loving how big it is. I made a Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank with 10 of those Unimog tires and it's pretty big. This is certainly bigger than that by at least a tire and half. Dang, I don't have enough L motors. -
I had a capacitor exploded in my LEGO Mindstorm NXT when I turned it on. It went bang with puff of smoke under the LCD cover. LEGO Customer Service was excellent, they replaced it even long after warranty. I don't think 60Amps at 24V is enough to weld metal. It could keep the spectators from touching your train again at events.

There may be privacy concerns with some people releasing their locations. Collaborating is easier if people with the same interest are building towards a common goal like a big display for BrickWorld convention. If you're looking for someone to collaborate, you can advertize your project plan and conditions (like being local?) and see if anyone want to take you up on it. Someone has an idea, post it up and people join in if they are interested. That would be an open request. You can do a closed collab by recruiting the people you personally want to be on your project.

Do you want the Lego collectible bubble to burst?
dr_spock replied to Gomek's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't buy LEGO as an investment instrument. It doesn't really matter to me. As with any investment and speculation, it is knowing when to get in and get out. Anybody still holding on to Cabbage Patch Kids? -
BoBS MRCA is no Carnival Holiday cruise. Do I see a duel in the works? But not so much when hurricane attacks.

[ESL - FB 1] The Ropemaker of Nova Terreli
dr_spock replied to kabel's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nicely done. I feel in the presentation your vegetation overpowers the wonderful rope making machine you have built. -
That is your answer to building on NPC territory question on the license form.

Sea Rats: Sign-up and Discussion

Cool find. Does the organ work? (The facebook links don't seem to work without an account.) I think I'd rather be re-stringing a guitar than ratlines. Ouch, bugged eyes and stiff finger joints. This is stuff for the younger builders. -

[ESL-FB3] Little Shop of Parrots
dr_spock replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the tie-in with the other build/story. I wonder if you use a different color 1x1 plate in the building parrots would that give them some eyes. Sea Rats- 24 replies

Cool, now that's playing with electricity. How much current can they discharge? Looks like EB has a new potato filter. This is second time I see potato quality in a post..

A fine ship. Nice use of those hull pieces. LEGO is good therapy.

There was a collaborative contest over in the Pirate Forum a couple of years ago. Contestants paired up and build half of the MOC. It was not easy to do over the Internet and different time zones. Collaboration is easier if you're all in the same LUG and go the same events. We collab'ed on trains, GBCs, space stations, habitats for collectible minifigures, LEGO store windows, etc.

Yikes. The ship hull pieces look safe. I didn't know you play bass. -

Is there a limit on pab cups you can buy?
dr_spock replied to Andrzej777's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is no published limits but the store manager reserves the right to limit quantities. I have done 2 to 3 cups at a time, the time to spend to pack the cups was more a limiting factor. -
Zblj has one of them building live stream this weekend on YouTube. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=103958 He has a LDD file out there somewhere too. It is against their company's policy. Warfare or war vehicles in any modern or present-day situation, or national war memorials is on their list of unacceptable content for Ideas submissions. They will tell you that too when you have an opportunity to build a MOC to display in their brand store windows or in their booth at an event.

You do realise you are reposting and promoting the domain of the spam site?

Thank you. I'm very much a simple pirate. Shh...don't tell anyone. Thank you. I enjoy your hangings. Thank you. Eslandola is a fun place to hang around. They probably should have stolen a handbag to pay the exhorbitant royalty fees for public music performance.

I can cure your addiction. Put them in an envelope and ship them to me.

Congrats to Carl G. LEGO will certainly put their buildability, playability and safety policies against it. Depending on the age range they plan to release the set for, the changes could be small or drastic. It's a wait and see game now.

[Question] Influence on TLG?
dr_spock replied to roppie11's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The AFOL community does have some influence on TLG but it is not as big as some AFOLs would like to believe. 46K EB members is not that many when compared to the millions of other types of LEGO customers out there. There are TLG employees who are members of Eurobricks and some EB members have gone off to work for TLG. LEGO now have a formal LAN (LEGO Ambassador Network) where ambassadors and LEGO can communicate. The Embassy was set up on EB before there was a LAN. I guess it can be still used as a way for the EB user to communicate with the EB ambassador representative or discuss ambassador type matters. -
Odd Technic Questions
dr_spock replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Toyota did that too with the Echo, Saturn with the Ion and Nissan with the X-Trail. Those are the ones I can think of sold in North America.
