  1. Nice job on those Unikitty tails (even if it wouldn't work IRL!), that piece was just begging to be used for this someday!
  2. That Davy Jones! I don't really care for the movie or the character much, but he looks incredible! Also, I call NPU on the Nexo shields for Poison Ivy: perfect!
  3. Wow, these are some stupendous real-world models. I don't usually spend much time looking at military builds, but these are quite good.
  4. Location: F03 (Forring) Tags: Military Building (prison) As Jex was guided down to B Sector of the MSS Strata, she wondered what the claim ticket could be for? The claims agent said it wasn't what she expected. She couldn't puzzle this one out. Looking around, she guessed that B must be on the other side of the prison compound--she recognized the slavers Agent Blond had caught that she had read about. One of them tried to reach through the energy barrier and got himself shocked, while the other made rude gestures. Why would they build the ship so you had to go through the prison? It just didn't make sense. "Here we are," said the guard. "B Sector, cell 68. Ms. DuBois, meet prisoner #C04-k2." "Wait...what?" **************** I'll try to add links in to refer back to other stories, since this post ties together a lot of loose threads. More photos below, C&C welcome!
  5. Jeronimitronio McYarglevitch wanted to get a new event submitted to the Space Olympics, one which he felt was underrepresented in the world of sport: Zero-G Pole Vaulting. The Andromeda Olympic Committee decided to consider his proposal, and invited him to do a demonstration of the sport for their consideration. The AOC decided to accept the sport into the games, but McYarglevitch never showed up to sign the paperwork and so the deal fell through. **************** I had planned to build this idea out a little better, but (true to form) ran out of time C&C always welcome.
  6. Ding ding ding ding! I did the best I could with the hairpieces I had. So yeah, while not a real Mariachi band, it's even better IMO (best series ever, if for no better reason then these guys here)
  7. See I have the opposite problem; I get the story written up all through the week but then don't complete the build on time, meaning nothing gets posted I really like the variety of micro ships, each one looks really great
  8. Here's my Mariachi band... (Well, they do do song-and-dance numbers!)
  9. I had seen it before, and really like it, but I agree on the ending. To me it's like going to a really nice buffet where you try a bit of everything--and it's all good--but just as you get up to grab seconds they tell you they are closed and you have to leave. I just try and enjoy it on those terms. (Shudder) We watched movies all the time as kids, and although we owned that one I only remember watching it once. For a reason.
  10. This. So totally this.
  11. Just when I thought it couldn't get better, I got to this: and just about lost it! Superb entry!
  12. Hail, Caesar! I just saw that the full series was on Netflix, it's about time for a rewatch...
  13. I can't speak to the electrical components, but the yellowing of the parts in question isn't a matter of light exposure, but of oxidation. That's why it happens whether you display them or not (although UV exposure will accelerate yellowing). The yellowing is actually the surfacing of bromide compounds that used to be present in the ABS mixture (I believe it was for fixing the color from when Lego sourced their plastic from Bayer), and is reversed with the peroxide treatment mentioned above. Good news is Lego changed its recipe sometime in the 90s, so bricks from later than that do not exhibit the same oxidation yellowing.
  14. I second this. It is probably because the 'dolls are more specialized--particularly in the Elves, where they have distinct skirts and intricate printing--and so take up more than their fair share of a given set's budget, at least compared to minifigs. I expect as the themes have more longevity that those special parts will see more reuse, and we'll see more of them.
  15. Reverse trike, with tilt function. IRL, a rider would lean into the turns and the wheels would tilt like on a motorcycle to give better maneuverability and control. Will add story later. AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr **************** Edit: AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Because the minifig cannot actually lean (like most Lego models, it relies on hand-of-god steering), I put a lever in behind the right wheel to activate the tilt function. AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr I had wanted to go all-in with independent suspension and steering, as well, but the size constraint made it impossible. Some undercarriage shots follow, along with the required size proof: AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr AG Cat D by rodiziorobs, on Flickr
  16. I have had the reddish brown 1x1 clips break on me, as well as a 4x6 plate crack right down the middle. The only other color I have seen the same kind of consistent breakage with was dark red bricks (from when that color was new), headlight bricks specifically.
  17. If LEGO were to consider creating SLCC exclusives, they would probably also look at the sales figures for the area--both from the LBR store in Fashion Place and also stats from the Target/Walmart reps, etc. I think there would definitely be a market for it among the con-going folk; lots of people I know who go to SLCC are big collectors of geeky toys. If they did SW collectibles (and let SDCC keep the superheroes), it would definitely be a hit. But will they? Dunno.
  18. The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob
  19. Went to my Walmart yesterday morning just as they were putting a box out--but not before a lady put the whole box in her cart! Luckily she was only thinking of buying a whole box because she wanted one of each, but didn't want to sort through them (and admitted she wasn't very good at it). My wife offered to help her sort them (so she wouldn't take all of them!) so helped her find one of each while putting aside three Mariachis for me. I have to wait til Monday (my birthday) yp open them, though. (Que vivan los ยก3 Amigos!)
  20. Woah, that was a quick mod job! I like the new look!
  21. I like how you've done the magnetic paddles/wheels(?), reminds me a little of Back to the Future. The color works well everywhere, too. I can't tell the exact dimensions of it from front to back, but I worry it's a bit oversized:
  22. I haven't gone back and checked, but it seems like with TLM there was a lot of discussion about how high the prices were going to be, but then when we got the actual price list everything was much better than expected, and most sets were a decent value at the least, if not really good (based on minifigs or ppp or pretty much any metric). I wouldn't be surprised if either there is more to the sets than we have seen, or the prices are not final.
  23. I guess I can't really argue with that
  24. I love the details all throughout the build, especially the bulk of the heavy drone. Sorry about your loss, good luck to you and your family. AG will (probably) be around when you get back.
  25. I agree, both Cogsworth and Lumiere look so completely overwrought that it's distracting. I can't see it looking good next to actual live action. Still, I have hopes that it'll be good, since I'll be seeing it either way.
