Last year we didn't have any stocking hangers come Christmastime, so I built some. They worked so well my wife asked me to make them again this year. They hold a surprising amount of weight, even when the stockings are full (although I wouldn't leave them hanging full for long). Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Here are some pictures to show how they are made. Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Obviously they could be built differently, so long as they are stable. I left a notch in the back so that the stocking loop can hang nicely against the wall. They are attached with Command strips and I just leave the clear 2x1 plates there year-round (but I could take them off easily if I needed to). Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr I used these to put up other seasonal decorations throughout the year, including flowers for spring, some wordart for Summer, and some Halloween decorations. I'll probably post those pictures later. It's always fun to find another way to have Lego all around the house! Especially when my wife approves.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 17 Rumors and Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Invisible man might be a possibility, although that would mean that TLG has either figured out how to reduce the poly-on-poly friction, or that there would still be opaque bits here and there. Bride of Frankenstein is at best unlikely, at worst impossible. The original monster is based off Shelley's book and is now in the public domain, so anyone can use it. The Bride, however, is a Universal Studios creation, meaning if she did show up she would have to be licensed. Also, her look is so singular that I doubt there is a way to do a "looks-like" character without infringing on the IP.- 1,421 replies

Here is another solution. I am not near my computer, so no LDD but the sketch should be pretty clear. Snot solution by rodiziorobs, on Flickr The studs on the headlight bricks will be exposed.

The LEGO Batman Movie Set/CMF Rumors & Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Sir Gareth's topic in LEGO Licensed
Love these figs. Don't know if I'll buy many of them, or even any at all, but like the Disney CMFs I'm just glad these exist -
So do I, and I can't begin to explain why.

The position and future of Friends and minidolls in Lego?
rodiziorobs replied to Dorayaki's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was the same, the minidolls just seemed off to me. Then I bit the bullet and bought an Elves set, and I haven't looked back. They are not as versatile as minifigs--lack of articulation or variety of 'dolls so far being the biggest issues--but they are intricately detailed and I have come to really like them as their own thing (even integrating them in interesting ways with minifigs in Andromeda's Gates). Apart from the minidolls, the sets are top-tier designs with great value. I was skeptical at first, but now I think Elves is by far Lego's best theme in years. (I don't care for Friends, but that's because I prefer to build Sci-Fi/Fantasy than city. If there were a "Friends in Space" theme I would probably be into it.) -
Dhjsdjcjd Location: C02 (Hunston) Tags: n/a Previously... I've come to help you. Even after I took you hostage and held a sword to your throat, huh? No. I mean yes, I mean... I don't say this kind of thing often, but I appreciate it. That Seliman is a piece of work, if you hadn't intervened she might have killed me by torture a few minutes ago. Wait...she tortured you? Oh my gosh! What happened to your leg? That's her. She did that in just a few minutes. Look, I'm tough, and I've been around, but I've never seen a weapon like she had. Oh no, that means... Listen. Things aren't what they seem around here. There have been some rumors about a kind of underground crime ring here at MANTIS. I never believed them but suddenly a lot of things are making sense. Like why Seliman let a convicted slaver escape? Exactly. If the rumors are true, then she probably won't let you leave no matter what the general may have said. But I am pretty sure I can get you out. How? That's what I came to talk to you about when I first arrived on the Strata, but I've realized more about you now. It's about Scorpio? ************************** ************************** There, Farrs? Do you see? She kind of responded. In a trance like sort of way. I see it. Try again... ************************** ************************** Why yes, how did you... Scorpio? I knew it. You are his sister, aren't you? Yes, I am. Is he here? I thought I heard him. Scorpio I'm here! Where are you? Oh...dear. Sorry to break the news to you, but...Scorpio...he's dead. What?! ************************** ************************** Farrs, how can I figure out exactly where I am? I told you, you are Here. But...where is everything else? Everything...Else..? Yes, you can see the universe above but how do we get there? I need to find where my sister really is; this is kind of her, but more like a ghost of her. I have a feeling she isn't really here at all. I have heard of a Place far away toward the center of Nowhere but I have never been. Do you have a way we could try and get there? Yes. I will come with you. There is nothing really for me Here any more anyway. Perhaps Somewhere Else will bring me new purpose. ************************** ************************** Farrs' ship was unlike any Scorpio had ever seen. It looked like a sort of gondola, but Scorpio could see no way that it stayed aloft. He and Farrs loaded Arsenica's cot into it and then climbed on. Farrs guided the ship to where Scorpio directed. He didn't know where he was going, but he had to solve the mystery of what had happened. More pics and stuff below. ************************** ************************** I had wanted to build the scene between Jex and Arsenica but there wasn't time. I really liked the way the gondola turned out, but it was a remarkable pain to photograph. I had to counter the weight of the ship with a PAB cup in the back behind the cloud backdrop, which threw off my already poor photo space. Future of AG - It's feedback time!
rodiziorobs replied to Bob De Quatre's topic in Andromeda's Gates
I agree on the lack of active builders; perhaps in the early days of AG it would have been feasible but certainly not now. However, I have never seen the color palette for each corp to be much of a restriction. I have probably built as much or more for Octan as MANTIS, depending on where the story has gone. I like that each corp has had distinct colors so you can tell at a glance which corp is represented, but I feel like I have been able to build pretty much whatever I wanted for any corp. I would like to see that flexibility continue. -
LEGO Elves 2017 Discussion
rodiziorobs replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Exactly this. When the theme was first announced, I liked the designs but thought I would never end up buying them. Then my wife saw them and told me I had to get them. Well, twist my arm then... I don't own every set (2016 was a lot pricier than 2015) but it's the first theme in a long time where I see the sets as more than just parts packs. Elves sets are the only ones in my house that are still on display rather than being parted out. The designs are so charming and well-done I feel like they really hold a lot of value above nearly every other theme. There is a wealth of new parts but that gold embellishment alone makes the theme worth it, and the airship a must-buy (as if it didn't already have enough going for it!) I had better start saving now, because I am going to want multiples of every one of these if I can manage it. -
...? Love the build--the jellyfish mushroom trees are really cool, but I need context!!

Avid boardgamer here, I read through the rules and it sounds fun! It definitely seems like a different sort of game than your usual battle games. Some of the attacking/defending mechanics seem a little confusing, but I get the feeling it wouldn't take long to get the hang of. I don't know when I'll actually have a chance to play, but I'll post my feedback here when I do.

Wow, that is an impressive ship! I can't even begin to wrap my brain around completing something that size, let alone keeping accuracy and detail and scale in mind. Sad to see the weather destroyed it, but that's the beauty of the hobby; you can always put things back together with enough patience. I agree with the sentiment here (if not the language). The ship displayed is masterful; just it wasn't built out of Lego brand building bricks doesn't make it any less so. Thanks for making that clear. From your earlier posts it sounded like you were dismissing the MOC and the builder outright simply because the ABS composition was a little different and the branding changed. However, I am pretty sure that if the article had said "largest MegaBloks ship" no one would read it. Even if you don't like it--no matter if the LEGO group tells people not to say it that way--"legos" is common vernacular.

What was the last movie you watched?
rodiziorobs replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Dr. Strange It was good. Better than expected in some regards, but overall I'd say it was just/merely fine. The visuals were really well done, the supporting characters were generally a little better than Cumberbatch, and overall it was quite watchable. However, it followed the tendency of Marvel movies to repeatedly break the tension with a one-liner or visual gag. Usually this doesn't bother me, but in Dr. Strange there are a few too many instances where the movie set the mood only to spoil it prematurely. -
Location: C02 (Hunston) Tags: Military Building Recap: Previously, Jex had gone to the MSS Strata to find more information about Scorpio's missing sister so that she could receive his final belongings after his funeral, including several weeks' worth of back pay. While there, she discovered that Scorpio had caught a prisoner, which, according to MANTIS' prisoner regulations, made him ultimately responsible for the prisoner's fate. Before Jex was able to interrogate the prisoner, there was a breakout in which two slavers--who had hidden their acts by disguising themselves as Zoids--tried to escape. Scorpio's prisoner had also escaped her cell and, in an apparent act of revenge against the slavers, killed one while the other managed to get away in the ensuing chaos. To bargain for her own freedom, the prisoner had then taken Jex hostage until General Teague had shown up and settled the scene. In the hours that ensued, mysterious forces set themselves to discover who this prisoner was, and how she might present a threat to their unsavory operations. Meanwhile, Scorpio has awoken, but is not sure where or when, or most perplexing, how. **************** The prisoner was muscled into a small room and cuffed to a chair. A woman entered the room, whom she recognized to be Seliman, the commander who had halted the prison break."You cannot keep me here!" she shouted. "Your general himself granted me clemency when I swore to hurt no MANTIS personnel, and that my only wish was to catch that scumbag slaver you let escape!" "Yes, but the general isn't here now, and I need information you might have..." Seliman responded, brandishing a glowing red prod. The prisoner noticed that it looked nothing like any MANTIS technology she had ever seen. "Tell me who you were working for when you were taken prisoner." "I answer to no one," came the terse reply. "Not anymore." "Then why are you listed in our records as being a Kawa prisoner, yet were initially apprehended in an Octan uniform?" The prisoner said nothing. "Tell me!" Seliman roared as she jammed the prod into the prisoner's leg. She screamed as the rod burned her flesh. ********** "Do you see?" Farrs Farkas inquired. "Come closer! She is more restless than ever!" Scorpio looked on helplessly. "Should we wake her?" he asked. "I don't know if it would kill her," Farrs replied. "I knew it was safe to awaken you because your color had returned." ********** Seliman waited a few moments, then stabbed the prisoner with the rod again, in the same spot. "Tell me who you are connected with in Andromeda," she asked simply. "As you have been in this prison for over a year, I am guessing that no one will come even notice if you never turned up again. But I am curious, and the people I work for even more so, so I am going to give you one more chance." The prisoner managed to see through the blinding pain and looked up at her captor. And remained speechless. "Fine then, the hard way it is." Seliman raised the rod, almost bringing it down on the prisoner's chest, when a voice interrupted through the intercom. /\/\/"Seliman, we have an urgent order from General Teague. The prisoner has a guest--a Ms. Jessica DuBois--who has requested an immediate visit. General said to comply ASAP."/\/\/ "Don't you think we're through here..." Seliman groaned as she walked out. To the guards she said,"take the cuffs off and put her in visiting room C." ********** "She stopped. She is peaceful once more...what does that mean?" Scorpio wondered aloud. AG week 68 by rodiziorobs, on Flickr "Perhaps her bad dream is over," Farrs mused. Scorpio thought to himself. The last time he had seen his sister she was a prisoner at MANTIS. He hadn't had a chance to negotiate her release before Laszlowe had sent him on that fool's errand. What had happened there? He had been spying on Octan with Jex, when they had escaped on their boat and ... Oh no. He remembered suddenly. The crushing pain, the suffocating vertigo, the slow agony and tears and then... ...and then nothing. That was it then. He was dead. Except he wasn't. Obviously, he was still here. Or, he was Here, as Farrs had said. And if he had died, Jex would probably be Here, too. Unless of course she had survived. But then why was his sister Here? "I'm going to try and wake her," he said, over Farrs Farkas' protestations. **************** Even though the vignette is small, C&C is always welcome!

The wreck is really well done, both as a ship and how well it's worked into the landscape. I also like the extraction vessel, I had hardly noticed it until I saw it in the spoiler.

But no water bonus!! I like the look of it a lot, and think straying from minifig scale definitely helped.

I never thought we'd see Eshey turn up in a Dr. Long build. I love the character and story crossovers Octan has got going on here, I look forward to more.

Only Hombre... I love the distinct look of your builds each week...even without Hombre on the controls, the mech just looks like a Pombe build. (I mean that in the best of ways.)
-
Seconded on the door, I also like the airlock door behind them as they are talking; it looks very much like the inside of a spaceship ought to.

I like the transport (nice work on the drum), but it looks terribly uncomfortable for the driver. That is probably one of the trickiest windscreen pieces to use, but you did well with it anyway!
-
As always, I love the comic-panel storytelling style you have. It fits the story and the renders really well. (Looks like I'm not the only one who feels a story crunch with the game's end drawing near sooner than expected!)
