Looks great! Nice articulation in this small package, and you've done a lot with getting it down to this size and keeping a lot of nice features.

The paperclip/upload option on Eurobricks that you're talking about is only for very small images to be used in your signature line, etc., here on the board. For sharing photos of MOCs and whatnot, you'll want to use a 3rd party service and I think most folks would recommend Flickr, if not using a Lego-focussed image hosting service. Here's a tutorial on linking/embedding Flickr images in your posts: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/97921-flickr-tutorial/

Don't apologize for sharing something you created - looks great to me! I agree that tiling the top will help it feel more finished. It came out really well; Lego is such a natural medium for 8-bit creations! If you want to take it to the next level, you could consider having the block hinge open (or lift/slide out) to reveal some of the things that were in ? blocks (1-Up/regular Mushrooms, coins, Fire Power Flower, etc.) or characters or a scene/level from the game. Nice build!

No something I'd have expected to see, but that's the beauty of a creative mind and Lego! The overall design is fun, and nice use of those printed trans panels on the engines to give it a little extra interest.

Welcome to EB, Jason. Happy building!

I went back and re-read that issue. Really interesting! Thanks for adding that great old story into the discussion.

You are correct - the earliest "Classic Space" sets were available in 1979. It was a well-developed range and obviously had extensive development during the year or two prior, and there was some promotion and probably some early availability in 1978 as rriggs said, but the actual release and general availability was 1978. Of course, Lego made space sets as early as 1964 or '65 I believe (a moon rocket, lunar lander, etc., made from standard System bricks of the time) so I don't think saying "in space since 1978" is disingenuous, but it is odd that there is so much reference out there to 1978. Perhaps 1979 was later than they had intended to launch - but around the 10-year anniversary of the moon landing would make sense from a marketing perspective - or maybe there was a wider but less promoted release in Europe or elsewhere in 1978 from some of the distributors.

Fantastic! There are a number of Lego-oriented sites out there that have catalog scans, but I'm not sure why I never thought to put some into the Archive.org Collections format. I wonder how many more are in there that should be consolidated? I'm going to check these out and enjoy the nostalgia, but then maybe some of us should make an effort to fill in the gaps both from our own collections as well as some of the other resources out there...

That's a nice looking biplane for that size. As for suggestions, I'd add a little more detail (maybe some exposed pistons through the engine cowling or something?), and I think the modified slope brick connecting the fuselage to the upper wing looks a bit chunky to me for how relatively sleek the rest of the build is. Looking forward to seeing more of this project!

Looks great! NeoClassic Space and Castle are creations I always fall for, and this one is no different. The building itself is nice of course, but I must say that just that little bit of ground work around it really completes it and makes it come alive. Nicely done.

Thanks for sharing that article, Thomas! Really interesting to see some of those items from the development team. @LEGO Historian - this may be relevant to your work. Some photos and details in here I haven't seen before. Perhaps Torben Plagborg can provide you with more interesting transitional development photos as well! -

Great re-work. The head looks especially nice in these colors with the metallic gold. I sorta want to by the set just to mod it now... -
[MOC] The Black Dragon, Svart Dyr
deraven replied to Louis of Nutwood's topic in Guilds of Historica
Haha! Since you said that I went back and looked at it more closely. Yeah... it's not exactly a complex piece of building and by itself it wouldn't be noteworthy, so let me rephrase that piece of my compliment: The tree is simply designed and doesn't specifically draw your eye, but it's a nice piece of set dressing that makes the rest of the scene feel more complete! -
Great use of parts and colors! Those ingots really do look good on your round towers, and the simple but effective greenery is lovely.

Nice of you to put that out there for folks. I got one of them myself and I have pretty much the same feedback that you do: Good quality overall, could have a been a little bigger but the size is fine, happy that the pieces are mounted well with nice straight alignment, and I also agree that it needs a frame. Haven't gotten around to that yet, but I'm going with a shallow shadowbox style frame in black that'll match other things I've got up in my Lego room. Definitely a nice addition and something a bit different from other Lego art that's out there.

[MOC] The Black Dragon, Svart Dyr

Love the tree. The reeds in that murky, marshy water are lovely as well. The fully brick-build dragon is wonderful, and the fire breath works well. The overall color scheme with just several shades of a fairly small palette of colors really gives it a cohesive feel. Fantastic build! -
UK TLG customer service accessible?
deraven replied to Fuppylodders's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's odd. I'm in the US and can't help with the customer service availability in particular, but I can tell you that I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago and despite the warning they just re-authorized the payment, charged it as usual, and shipped out my order without my having to do anything, so you might be OK on that front. To clarify, I missed the initial email, then contacted them a few days later, but before they got to my message with how backed up they are the order went through on its own. -
Looks good. You've captured the Plymouth well and even did a pretty good job with the paint scheme on that one. The interior is surprisingly roomy and detailed, too. Nice build!

Hi Viktor - welcome to EB! Yes, the last 20 years or so have seen many changes to the Lego line-up, and I think you're coming back to the brick at a good time. Technic in particular seems to have a lot more folks very actively involved in the community than I remember in the previous decade, and lots of inspiration and good discussion here on the board. Happy building!

Welcome to EB, Jac63! Happy building!

That's lovely! I really like the beaten path and that lime green grass, and the very enthusiastic look on his face. Nice work on the house as well, keeping it visually interesting without being too busy at that small size. Nice build!

Welcome to EB, donachy! Glad you were able to find some building time during lockdown - seems to be a fairly common thing with people rediscovering Lego with their extra time. Stay safe, and happy building!

LEGO bricQ disgussion
deraven replied to SNIPE's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Since it's an educational product you pay a premium for the educational materials included with the sets, so YMMV with whether or not they're worth it, though there are some interesting parts included as mentioned above. I wanted to jump in, however, to say that I think the color coding on the sorting/storage trays may be my favorite detail of these sets! Simple, functional, and clever.
