  1. Welcome to EB, teetertater! Definitely plenty of inspiration and discussion to be had in the Technic forums, and looking forward to seeing your MOCs. Happy building!
  2. I really don't have time to comment on this properly, but I did want to at least say: This looks wonderful, aesthetically. Very nice combination of technic and system elements to get the look right. Also a great set of features and controllability worked in, even if there are some bits that need refinement or fixes as you noted. Fantastic build!
  3. No so much with trains specifically for me, but I think some artistic license is fine (thought I would probably not specifically refer to the MOC as a "replica" but instead as my own version or interpretation thereof). I see it like how an illustrator for different types of media would draw a real-life piece of hardware: generally they make sure they get all the most prominent elements right but otherwise try to capture the "feel" more than every specific detail. And I guess it does come down to what level of detail. I mean, if you're building a famous steam loco and decide you don't want to include any stacks or something, that might be a bit much.
  4. That would double the size footprint which I think mEan was trying to avoid (for either aesthetic or practical purposes). I would look at how Lego did it with the 40174 chess set - that just has 2 halves that stack and snap together when in use. If you want it hinged, think about a 3-part hinge design (with part of it floating) mounted a brick up in the interior so none of it protrudes when open. A little bit like how the interior hinges in the pop-up book set works.
  5. I believe this is correct. Definitely not a Lego tire, regardless.
  6. Speculation about non-compete in the Star Wars license aside, this is a big reason: Other brands have the license to make Star Trek building toys. I'd love to see official ST sets done by TLG, but the 2 "competing" franchises will probably remain a challenge even if the ST license became available. I would also say that most of the iconic ships from the Star Trek universe would need to be done as playsets, midi-scale, or microfighters style which generally may not be as appealing for marketing. There are far fewer small craft and vehicles to lean on for smaller sets, but with the breadth of the ST universe and TLG's creativity I'm sure there'd be plenty of great products if they ever do go there!
  7. Looks great! I'd love to see the inside of the build for how it works.
  8. Very nicely done! Great use of the ball joints at the front and other nice parts usage throughout like the recolored minifig posing pieces as hooks inside. The overall shaping is wonderful. Might be an issue with those finger hinge joints but I certainly wouldn't complain if they were put back into production in any color. Great build!
  9. Yes, in addition to the actual mobile Minifigures app from Lego (where you can use parts from the various collectible minifigure series), here are some web-based creators that you can design in and then use as an avatar: https://www.bricklink.com/links.asp?catID=22 Also, while it's meant to create a custom minifig and then order the real thing, you can use the design tool here and use the image as an avi if you want: https://www.brickyourself.com.au
  10. Cheers! The nice thing in this case, then, is that you can even go get the instructions and easily build it yourself if you feel so inclined. Keep a hold of your towel, and happy building!
  11. Nicely done at this scale! NPU on the intercooler fins on the nacelles (and bow they connect things there structurally) as well as for the shuttle bay. Nice shaping on the impulse drive as well; the ingot works nicely there with the tooth parts. Great build!
  12. I don't recall an official set like that of a duck, but if we're talking a bunch of basic yellow bricks this is the first thing that comes to mind: https://brickarchitect.com/2016/art-of-the-brick/ There was a smaller version of that put in for Lego IDEAS that didn't get made. As for official sets in the style you have there, there are these 3: https://brickset.com/sets/theme-Creator-Expert/subtheme-Sculptures The dragon was built in various colors and there is a yellow version that was shared around a lot: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-6892/vladoniki/yellow-dragon/#details
  13. That conversion is off. Here are the redeemable amounts from Lego directly, in USD: 650 VIP Points = $5 2600 VIP Points = $20 6500 VIP Points = $50 13000 VIP Points = $100 So at all levels 130 VIP points = $1 USD in value. Not worth an additional purchase if you weren't planning on it already, but you could redeem those points directly for entries in some of the drawings for prizes - check those out in the Redeem Points area of the VIP page.
  14. Looks good, and a wonderful job on the shaping at that scale. The landing gear is great! NPU with the skis across the top and overall nice fitting of all those various wedges.
  15. Looks great! I especially love all the detail in the back room!
  16. Very nicely done. You've captured a lot of great detail even at this small (minifig-ish) scale. Great build!
  17. Bricklink started out as a 3rd-party Lego parts sale and purchasing platform. Later, their Studio program became one of the more popular Lego CAD applications. What you're seeing, as MAB said, is the option to download the Studio file that you can open, manipulate, or build from, as well as quickly filling your cart with the necessary Lego pieces to purchase from Bricklink sellers if you'd like.
  18. Nice! I think if you added some rollers (inside, not on the rack) or something else to help reduce the friction so the motion was smoother, the speed isn't a problem. Of course, if you can also rig it so it automatically lowers/spreads the droid rack out after it's fully extended from the chassis, that's the finishing touch.
  19. Just updated one of my wanted lists by applying an order, and it worked normally for me. Try the rest of the usual browser troubleshooting- clear caches/cookies, log out and back in to Bricklink, etc., and also look at turning off any browser plugins/extensions to see if that helps. There may be something else going on, but it doesn't look like it's a system-wide problem.
  20. Simple and lovely, and goes great with the bookstore modular. Nice build!
  21. Very impressive, and well-captured! It looks like the battle droid deployment rack is functioning? If that's the case it would be awesome to see a video of that.
  22. There are a number of "legal" ways to do it, but it of course depends on what kind of construction you have under that hollow stud you're trying to connect with. You can put an inkwell piece under an open-stud 1x1 plate and it comes up just far enough to connect with the pin on the flower. You can also put any element that is standard shaft width that includes a pin hole in the open stud and then connect to that. Examples would be part 32828 or 37695 though there are probably other options that would work better depending on what you've got below that open stud in question.
  23. The part in Sesame Street isn't new, just new in that "opal" color, and the clear versions aren't too pricey having been in a bunch of batman sets. That might be your best bet if that specific size requirement is set in stone. Next best thing (and easier to work with) might be the 2x2 dome (part 30151). You could easily put the flame in 20482 and that between 4 studs that the 30151 is affixed to.
  24. Welcome to (more active participation on) EB, Martin! Sounds like you've had quite the wide breadth of experience with Lego over the years and have seen a lot of ups and downs with them. I think it's a great time to be involved with Lego and this community in particular, and always nice to have another friendly voice in the conversation. Happy building!
  25. Hi Roboteer! LDD was discontinued years ago and is unsupported by Lego, including things like parts updates. I would consider moving to Bricklink's Studio or a LDraw/another L-CAD variant instead. If you're committed to stick with LDD as long as you can, there are plenty of other folks doing the same. You may be able to find some help adding more current parts here: https://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/177795-key-topic-ldd-new-parts/
