  1. Same for me, I was surprised; previous orders weren't that fast. After building the car and the ground floor, I am sure that I'll replace the car. I'll try to mod it; if I can't achieve something acceptable I'll just redo a 4-wide car.
  2. Indeed, it was very fun to follow the story linking all the pictures :)
  3. Maybe the Universal licence already "includes" the DMC licence? i.e. Universal has DMC's agreement and it is enough?
  4. I bought one of each (when they were sold by Aldi Belgium), I do not use them much yet because I bought others recently, but I planned to use the open trays for larger parts (e.g. 2xN bricks, panels, 4xN plates, arches, etc.) that do not risk of falling even if stacked above the border. Especially since the small trays are smaller than those that I had previously, so I guess they are fine only for small parts of small quantities where the average ones I had previously were rather multi-purpose.
  5. Yes, I missed the lime green bus from last transportation set because I was interested only in the bus and not the other vehicles (I could have bought the set for parts though)
  6. I'm torn between buying it now with free shipping, or go buying it next month in the store in Lille so I can fill a pick-a-brick cup at the same time
  7. All these nice 4w vehicles And that good looking station on that nice classic baseplate Well done
  8. I really liked the vehicles, and I also really like that building. Well done! Usually they start the siren a few hundreds of meter after leaving the base. Or else for neighbours it would be painful. At least in Belgium, from what I remember. I do not know if it works the same everywhere though. But I work near a fire station and indeed they do not often put the siren when leaving.
  9. These are really impressive models indeed. That reminds me that in the 80s (most likely around 1985-1987, so it would match these years) I saw here in Belgium a expo with that kind of big Lego models, more like an architecture expo than a Lego expo. I wonder if it is those or just something similar. The only one that I vaguely remember isn't amongst those pictures. Being born in 1980, I was just a kind then.
  10. There is indeed a risk of rust for the wheels axes. Do they really need to be cleaned? You could just use a wet towel or wet brush rather than put them fully in water. Anyway I guess if they are well make dry (e.g. one by one with a dry towel) just after the cleaning rather than leaving them drying like the other parts, there is not much risk of rust.
  11. They were for sale in Aldi in Belgium recently, I bought one of each. They are a little smaller than those I already had, but for the price it is indeed a good deal for storing Lego parts, at least for small parts. A good point is that they provide a lot of plastic separators to add in the trays (more expensive container makers often sold these separately, if they are even available).

  13. I have several slopes with numbers written on them. Following the set 6374 that had http://www.bricklink....asp?P=3039pb15 I wanted to have many other numbers. And a paint marker (worse than the usual permanent ink marker) is not easy to remove from the slopes due to their texture... At least these numbers were well written (by my father, as I asked him), if I wrote on that myself at that time it would have been worse :D
  14. Excellent, good work
  15. Indeed, and that round-corner plate is a 24x32, not 32x32 :)
  16. I think we are numerous to follow this topic, curious of seeing the next one :D
  17. (off-topic, sorry) Funny to see a Renault bus in Autralia, I wasn't expecting that at all :D
  18. Really? On Bricklink the red & brown plates from homemaker sets are listed under the same part number as the modern baseplates. I wonder how both the old and new ones will be listed together then, though that for the moment the old one is only available as "used".
  19. Interesting indeed. I really thought these were more common in the 80s, but no: except the crater one (that I had/have), the only other one I got is the Paradisa house base posted previously, from 1992, not so far from the first non-crater ones then. (and the 16x16 platforms, but these are not really the same kind of baseplates even if listed as such on Bricklink)
  20. Yes it is nice. Long time ago as a quick test I made a house using parts of set 4956 on that plate: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2824510 And I still haven't done something else more elaborated; one of my numerous "MOC to do" :D

    Lego and cats

Nice :D It is indeed difficult to make a photo or a video of something (either on the ground or on a table) without having the cats checking what happens. For example when making this pic : http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=5482861 the cat came there after I started laying the rails... and left when I finished taking pictures.
  22. It seems crazy that Lego still hasn't released one... Well for my case it does not change anything, as I still use 12V I can only rely on 2nd-hand anyway for extra tracks. It is probably much more common for trams. There are at least several in Brussels, Belgium. e.g. https://maps.google....,92.12,,0,29.97
  23. Really nice :)
  24. Very nice vehicles, I prefer 4-wide for cars & vans, to me these are "more Lego" as they were like that when I was kid
