  1. There is a nice blog that references new parts but also that kind of changes to existing parts: http://www.newelementary.com/ e.g. the article about this tile change: http://www.newelementary.com/2013/07/a-neat-excision.html
  2. You can always check the set inventory from Briclink's catalog. It allows also to sort by part quantity, that gives an idea of what parts you get the most in a set.
  3. Thanks. Like for most of the sets, I do not keep my MOCs. After photos I disassemble them. Not sure yet about this one when it will be finished, I'll make keep it a little longer but probably not forever: I prefer re-use the bricks than have to buy new ones. I keep a few sets on display in the living room (modular buildings) and in another room (model team and a few other vehicles), and a few sets in boxes for putting in display from time to time (haunted house on halloween, winter village in winter, ...)
  4. Displays use RGB colors but real-life objects (printing, painting, etc.) are rather expressed using CMYK colors http://en.wikipedia....th_RGB_displays So the RGB values will always be an approximation, and as said above they depend on the monitor. Recent versions of Windows can handle color correction and screen calibration, like MacOS does since longer time, to try to make your screen's colors as close as possible to the "real" ones. If the monitor does not come with a color profile from the manufacturer it can be configured manually (Control Panel -> Color Management). They're not so consistent, color variations can be observed in many colors. Yellow for example isn't so consistent since a few years despite being an old classic color. One of those that caused the most problems to Lego seems to be dark purple a few years ago (with the Harry Potter bus).
  5. There was a second part to his post: "I know there are bricks with the stud on the side but they lack the hole on the opposite side." Indeed the headlight brick often cracks, and unlike some other parts that's a problem that existed since long time, as those that I have which cracked are rather old ones than recent ones (mostly due by playing, not all cracked by themselves though). The part is too useful to be discarded despite this problem, unlike other parts they modified/discarded due to their fragility.
  6. Great work, nice details
  7. And because of this thread I am going to buy one Nice work here!
  8. My current setup is at least inspiring enough to have a Lego version of it : The rest of the apartment: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89706entry1768166 I usually build sets in the living room while watching TV, but for MOCs this desk is better (despite not being very big), as I have direct access to all the parts (some are hidden in the photo, as there are others in & under the desk).
  9. They increased a few months ago in Europe
  10. Yes, I bought one for parts when it was once discounted on Amazon; I like the dark orange. I regret so much not having done that for the Green Grocer a few years ago when I had the opportunity.
  11. There is a pretty long thread about that in the General section: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=26213
  12. When I was kid I was I cutting the back of each box : I kept all the alternate building ideas from most of the sets I had.
  13. 157 sets... http://www.bricklink...colorID=12&in=A
  14. In Europe the ground floor is usually not counted, the first one above the ground one is the 1st floor. Even in UK Engish it seems. And I guess in Singapore too, then. In French it works well as the term used for that ("étage") has also an "upstairs" meaning: "ground" and "floor" are two different things then.
  15. wow, nice collection 1974 ! I really like to discover new parts like that (and I find sad that some were not put in production...) This reminds me that nice collection of purple technic parts that you posted on another similar thread, but picture links are dead unfortunately. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=10689&st=175#entry1738379 Indeed, I wanted to mention the same thing
  16. It was even more obvious long time ago, I remember in the early 90s all the tan and medium blue used in Legoland park, when these colors wheren't existing at all in sets. And also some colors like green or brown which were quite rare in sets back then.
  17. I keep only boxes of the sets that I keep separated and that may have higher value with time (modular buildings and other large sets like that), even if I doubt I would ever resell these. And I throw away the other ones (city & creator). From my childhood, I only kept the boxes from Model Team and the Octan station (the only sets I kept separated from my mixed parts, actually).
  18. Many sets from end of 90s sucked Many sets from that time sucked. About the trains separated from city line, indeed I remember that in the end of 80s the trains where in a "train" theme in the catalogs, separated from the town sets.
  19. Yes, and with the glass it will even look better than the train window I think. Lego used a train window without glass because that other one didn't exist yet at that time.
  20. Even if they are close, there is a quite different hue there to me. But I can understand why they may seem similar: blue/green shades is where most of the people have problems for noticing color differences. For the greys, using daylight it is not too hard to see the difference when the parts are a little old as they tend to be more yellowish as said above. But I have a few like-new parts from just before the color change, these are harder to classify: I have to compare them to other ones to be sure to which category of grey they belong. As also said above daylight light is much easier for that. Hence why on the desk on which I have all my Lego parts I have a lamp with a Philips "daylight" bulb rather than a common yellowish lamp. It makes color sorting so easier. And to come back to the original topic: I also find that the new gley looks probably more "neutral", being "colder" than the other one.
  21. I have a good image of the small bouncing parts, as of course I did that too No big accident. Knowing I am clumsy I was rather careful. And I used to pick the few parts found on the ground that other people made fall, to avoid to these poor parts from ending in the trash
  22. Here are the pics from the Big Bang Theory episode mentioned above: http://bricks.inmovi.es/movie_898266_The-Big-Bang-Theory.html Which one is it? http://www.imdb.com/find?q=Time%20Bandits&s=tt so I can add your picture to my site (except if you don't want of course)
  23. I suppose that in Europe as they ship from another country usually, it works differently (e.g. for Belgium it is sent from Germany or Netherlands).
  24. When I got the 60020, preferred it over the 7733. I didn't especially wanted to keep the trailer of the old one, but I already applied stickers to that set. So I didn't apply stickers to the new one and recycled the trailer of the old one into cargo part of the new one: It also has the advantage of having two matching trucks.
  25. Next step, the second room, used as office/storage (I could convert it to a Lego-room) In real it looks like this: The floor with tiles is done in the same was as the bedroom seen previously: Once filled: In the left corner of the first pic, it is a glass table that is not visible on photo of the real room. And in the left corner of the second pic, it is a tower for storing CD, the same kind as the one visible between the display case and the wardrobe (but not made in the Lego version). Due to the offset of the "low" display case, I could not attach to it the CD racks (represented by white grilles). So I attached these to the wall. And I had to take apart the wall to add support: Once all rebuilt, I took it apart a second time, as I didn't notice that there was a one more plate at the bottom of the black CD rack... In background, you can see that I added a pillow and a white border to the bed, as I was suggested elsewhere. I also finished the laundry/utility room seen previously, with the shelf and the vacuum cleaner Panasonic MC-CG661:
