Maybe they change the rule/subject to avoid that exactly: entries made in advance, expecting a contest :D

Where do Rare/HTF Parts come from?
antp replied to Turaga of Force's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That's what I thought too, it looks more like purple than dark purple.Nice collection anyway (but I prefer the dark purple, I bought a few HP buses just for that, even if it is not so easy to re-use). 1974, you mentioned the HP bus, are these parts really the same color? Aren't both 6 in length? And the underside of 2875 looks like that, from what I remember. -
I've read that directors of both companies in the 60s/70s were friends. I guess that the companies kept good links then.

Trans Clear LEGO Thru the years...

"translucent" ? http://www.wordreference.com/definition/translucent -
Really nice work. Since some time one of my planned future MOCs is a car park with a ramp like that, but with multiple levels. The ramp takes a lot of space indeed. Hence why I abandoned that idea for the parking lot I made for the Modular Madness contest last year [ on this thread ], as there was a 32x32 size limit But I sill think doing a bigger one some day.

But the non-confidential pic is there, so the preliminary one isn't really confidential anymore (and there will never be a non-confidential version of that pic, since it was not the final model)

Indeed thinner wheels look much better on small cars. And unfortunately here in the final set the car has the same tyres as the truck: http://www.1000stein...ges/60060-1.jpg (very big image from http://www.brickset....il/?Set=60060-1 hence the link-only)

In episode 1.04 of the series Trophy Wife, the 7965 Millenium Falcon is well featured - Are we done yet?! - Almost! I think I got all the grays for the wing. - The wing is light gray, not dark gray. - What kind of maniac makes two grays?! Why is this so hard? - It says ages 9 to 14. I'm 8 and you're ... - 26. From a comment on another forum, it seems they had indeed a few boxes for sale, but of course all were quickly sold...

That one seems to be from France. There the 41999 was already 10€ cheaper than in Belgium on the Lego S@H :D
-
I found it better, less playmobil-like, as it does not seem to use a big single-part for the nose

I dig the topic to post this that I found in the toy catalog from Cora, in Belgium : Cora is a general-purpose supermarket, I guess like Wallmart in the USA. I am surprised that they have the 41999 in stock (I didn't see it in the store, but I didn't pay much attention, as I saw the catalog only afterwards), especially at that low price. Notice that they do not display the model number, unlike the other Lego sets. I suppose that there will be disappointed kids if they put it on their Santa Claus wish list :D

It is just two straight road plates, you see the join near the windshield of the orange truck.

Nice for the transparent panels. I hope to find these some day in the PAB wall. I got dark red 1x2 bricks a few months ago in France, I wish I had taken more of these, I hope there will still be some left for my next visit.

For power functions sets, all the electronic/motor stuff is made in China I suppose. But not the whole set. I suppose that for LOTR some specific licence parts are made in China, as well as minidolls from the Friends sets. I think that it was concluded previously that the parts coming in their own small separate plastic bags were made in China.

That thread was rather about the common PaB cups. For the box, there is a limit. For last year, from what I remember it had to be used in the first months, I do not remember if it was until end of January or later.

Any guesses as to why TLC is trying to shut me down..?

Or they don't like having their cars competing against others... In 2000 there was the game "Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed" where you could drive many Porsche models (but only these), with little damage when they crash (from what I remember). Back then, that game was really good (much more realistic than the other Need for Speed titles). -
That last one, I saw it in the store of Lille (France). I took just a few of these, as I am not sure of what could be done with these

If it was the name of who founded the restaurant, and that it is a relatively old restaurant, that still makes sense ;)

In the new series "The Michael J. Fox Show", in a scene a guy is seen in the room of his little brother, with Lego all around: Note the Calendar set http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=853195-1 on the shelf The thing in background on the wall seems to be also made out of Lego. In this scene there is a Lego storage unit seen on the left: Line in this scene: "Legos everywhere. They're not even put together right. How is this a tug boat? Seriously."

Experience sourcing parts for out-of-production sets?
antp replied to badbob001's topic in General LEGO Discussion
There is a whole thread about that for the Corner Café : http://www.eurobrick...opic=60958&st=0 Some time ago it was a way to build it for cheaper, but as many other people also try to do that the price of specific/rare parts are of course very high. If you are not a purist, the solution to have it for cheaper is to replace some of the parts by other ones (sometimes nearly identical ones, sometimes different colors, - e.g. dark blue arches by dark grey - or just completely different but giving a similar result)
