I made a similar topic a few years ago: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48198 My cats are older now, but they haven't changed much, they still love to try to steal parts or play with the empty boxes while I build sets...

Yes: I simply replaced the front bogie of the engine by the 12v motor unit. I had to remove the front buffer as the plow was touching the tracks. And the train wasn't passing the switch point, as their curve is too tight (that could possibly be fixed by replacing/modifying the rear bogie of the engine).

Ditto, the balloon cart goes well with the rest of the set. I was probably gonna buy the set later anyway...

I also whish I had more photos from my MOCs back then. As there weren't digital cameras then, I only have a few photos. Indeed make new versions of the old stuff is fun. I made a much bigger and improved version of one of mine (a high building tower), but it is on my MOCpage accound, and the site seems down right now :/

Nice vehicles :) The ambulance is well done indeed. I find the car on its left interesting, for the use of the hood part. I also had (still have) that plain-white windshield part, but I do not think I ever thought about using it as a hood rather than using it as a van roof (like in the set from which I got it) or as the rear windshield of a commercial vehicle. From the less-yellowed sticker mark on it, I bet you got it from the same set as I did ;) About childhood MOCs, that reminds me a childhood police car I often made to use the inverted windshield : I was making a French police version (black & white) of the Citroën Ami 6 (despite it wasn't used by the police in real life, AFAIK). I remade it after my dark age, it is visible there : http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2950461 (in front of the yellow building).

Nice! It seems big (in depth) compared to the other ones, but the modular building are actually very small inside :D For the block, wouldn't it look better if reversed, i.e. with the garden at the side of the Parisian Restaurant ?

Review Review: 70816 Benny's Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP!
antp replied to Rufus's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Isn't that a code for one of the Lego games, like they did on 70813 "Rescue Reinforcements" and 60007 "High Speed Chase"? edit: that's what was already said on page 2, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=95637&st=25#entry1891683 I should have read the whole thing before replying :D- 228 replies

The one who sent the picture to hothbricks said there in comments it was from http://brickset.com/sets/30197-1 bought on ebay

Note much progress lately. I am lazy for starting the biggest part (livingroom) so I made the hallway. In real it looks like this: On the left there is a combined shelf & coat-hanger, nearly not visible on the "real" photo. The wooden furniture is shoe storage. I made another one first (as well as one for the shelf) but I wasn't happy with it: I didn't make a replica of the cats' litter boxes, not enough room. Next steps: - livingroom - improving the balcony

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
antp replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Time to make the 3rd one then, a service station -
Really nice!

I MOC mostly from my parts inventory, that's much cheaper :D (but it requires a rather large initial parts inventory) And I do not keep my MOCs at the end, to re-use the parts for the next one.

Adding minifigs of your family is a nice final touch indeed :) Yes, I have the computer programmer minifig for that (also used in my avatar) And for the cats, the white one exists and I'll use a dark brown one to represent the greyish tabby one.

You can regroup in one compartment low quantities of similar bricks; it is not hard to find them when mixed in small compartments like that if they are in about equal quantities.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
antp replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
Yes. I personally prefer the PS, but HH is very good too. If you lack of space the PS may be easier to display ;) I was a little disappointed by the Simpsons house. It is really good for a Simpsons fan, but as a Lego set it is much less interesting IMHO. -

Thanks, good to know, I may try to go there some time then

1x1 trans-red tile ? I hope that I'll find these some day. I only saw the 1x1 plates in PaB until now.
-
Thanks :) Yes, I will finish it in the next months. I prefer building directly with the bricks rather than using LDD, so I try to build with the constrains of my available parts. Hence also why I hesitate once finished between keeping it as it will be, or take it apart after some time, to get the parts back for the next MOCs. What do you plan to do with your house? (did you order the parts just for that? Or did you build mostly with existing parts?)
-
Nice work! The building is well made, and the result in video is great. It is already annoying putting all the 1x1 tiles, I can't imagine also having to do a photo between each I also plan to make some day my parent's house in Lego, it would fit well in the modular scale. That would be after the current MOCing of my apartment, if I ever take time needed to finish it.
-
Did you took the opportunity to update it? Some day I'll probably go back to that shop, but if the wall isn't very interesting I'll probably wait a little more.
-
It wasn't me, as I said I finally found the set in a local shop. If you do not care which version it is, the one with solid studs does not seem so rare. Except if you want it as brand new...
-
I was waiting since a few years for a 2x4 car wheel arches/mudguard part in green ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=60212 / http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3788 ) I discovered that it existed in one set just after the set was retired! ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=6910-1 ) I missed the set mostly because on some of the official photos (e.g. the one used on Brickset) the part appears as white instead of green It is quite rare on Bricklink, but luckily I recently found three of that set in a local shop

They all make copies of Lego's recent parts, so it would be difficult for them to attack or else they would have to explain all their other parts...

Difference between US boxes and European boxes.
antp replied to jonty14's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Usually the start of the bar code is related to the country of the manufacturer ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_GS1_country_codes ) I suppose that for US/Canada they use their Mexico factory? (and the EU factories for EU markets)
