  1. Really nice work! It does not seem easy to make a "inverted" corner building, you achieved that really well. Same for the color choice, it really works well despite it does not seem easy to achieve something with bright basic colors.
  2. If I translate the French term that I know for that ("en quinconce") to English I get "in staggered rows"
  3. That's annoying. I was already hesitating to get it, I may then not be able to resist And in my case it would not replace the Parisian Restaurant : I would just end up buying both.
  4. It was 8,99 & 15,99 € in France/Belgium/Germany, but it seems that lately they raised the price by 1 & 2 € respectively (at least in France and Belgium). From what I've read, Lego is surprisingly rather expensive in Denmark.
  5. All filled that way? How many hours for packing ?
  6. I meant swap the red 1x1 brick and red 1x1 plate, but keep the tile attached to the same stud. But it looks like that then the tile is too much on the left despite the extra space added by the clip :/
  7. Then if you invert the brick and the 1x1 plate the tile would already be at a better place, no? Or is it missing a few tenth of mm of space near the pole?
  8. Or do not connect the middle 1x3 tile (i.e. use a red brick without side stud), just wedge the tile between the two horizontal parts. The ½ plate too much in length can go on the left, near the pole, to be less visible than when it is on the right like on your picture.
  9. Or ship it (flattened in an envelope) to someone in USA who can fill it for you for when you come back
  10. If you do not know that it should contain 1x8s it is indeed not a problem, but in this case it would be better to try to arrange the bricks to avoid the split between two bricks at the same place on two continuous layers... I am not sure what I try to explain is clear :D On your photos the line between bricks is quite noticeable when it is at the same place on contiguous rows of bricks.
  11. Indeed, and not the same shade of yellow as the ABS yellowing. I have a lot of these white plates with my blue train tracks.
  12. Not amongst Belgian sellers on Bricklink; I would have to order from another seller in UE for that (thus possibly higher shipping costs). There weren't really so unwanted pieces in that set: I also wanted the dark red slopes which are already less cheap, and the other parts can be useful too anyway. And I bought it on Amazon when the price was low (at price per piece around 5 cents). And originally I thought that maybe some day I would rebuild it despite I bought it for MOC. It is only after the first build/dismantle that I changed my mind about rebuilding it
  13. Indeed, it looks very nice. It is even worse to dismantle than to build... And I had to, since I bought it just as a dark red plates parts pack. I built it just to see what it looked like "in real". But after dismantling, I think I'll never build it again (I wonder why they didn't provide a brick separator with that one, luckily I have lot of those)
  14. And as I suggested previously (on another thread about this set), using 1x2 plates/tiles (of various colours) instead of 2x4 will increase the realism, as the current model has a scale problem: there should be way more containers on that ship.
  15. 7. viracocha - 1 27. Galaktek - 1 38. vecchiasignoraceppo - 1 51. Righty - 1 53. Cara - 1
  16. Thanks I hesitated to post a photo of the actual toilet, not very useful I guess. Here is the next steps. I finished the outside; first the balcony: I didn't have many grey bars, so in the end I did it like this: After a first trial with "plate 1x2 with ladder". I may try other solutions, as the solution with grille tiles looks a little "heavy". With the complete wall: The other wall has a part "raised", in red bricks: (I do not have a good photo, it is taken from Bing Maps, I didn't want to ask to people from the parallel street if I could take a picture from their garden ) It is here that the 1x2 plates from the Robie House were useful. But also caused a problem... In height, 3 plates = 1 brick but 24 plates > 8 bricks... at the top of the wall there is a very small difference; the grey tiles at top aren't completely fit on the inside wall. The grey tiles in front of the windows represent bars that are attached there. For that maybe I should try to get grey bars, same kind as what I used for hanging curtains, it will probably look better than the tiles... Next step: continue with the inside furniture.
  17. Indeed, for sets that I buy mostly for the parts I like stickers: I can then not apply them But for the sets I intend to keep, I prefer the printed parts. I apply stickers rather well (compared to some reviews I see ) but stickers can damage with time... The 5550 Model Team Rally Van cf my collection : http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=5783717 only one still has the sticker on the front slope (the one not visible there, visible here: http://www.brickshel...y.cgi?i=4358115 ) There was also this house: http://brickset.com/detail/?Set=6372-1 I got it secondhand when I was kid, the stickers were glued on the slopes by the first owner, but despite that they still didn't stay on them... Is it textured? As now they seem to also produce smooth slopes To confirm that point, in http://www.newelementary.com/2013/12/nature-in-tooth-and-claw.html I read yesterday that the head of the tiger ( http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pVt3Kfb2fBQ/UpZXz1kjC6I/AAAAAAAAA_k/7MoBNScD1VY/s1600/Untitled1.png ) are printed but the paws are stickers - despite both use the same part and that there are four paws for one head
  18. But strangely the glass of the recent large XWing was stickered despite being rather AFOL-targetted and rather difficult to apply... (unlike the small XWing which had a printed glass, but stickers for other parts, probably because the glass of that set was used in several others)
  19. I guess that the few random unique parts are from the bin where they dump sets leftovers. I saw that in the Lego store of Köln. I do not know if it is from opened sets or from sets that they built for display, but it may be a good source of interesting parts (e.g. in my case I found a few 1x2x2 window glasses at the bottom of the bin, as I searched at the bottom for the most interesting small parts)
  20. Are there more different parts than the usual P-A-B walls? What kind of bricks are in that rainbow-color photo? I guess that if you have a wider choice of parts it makes the thing still interesting even if more expensive.
  21. They will at least sell them in Europe via S@H I hope?
  22. I bought it as a parts pack, as I needed these dark red plates for two MOCs, and I find they look nice for building/houses walls :)
  23. The scale of the bathroom seems similar to mine though. In height my MOC is probably not minifig scale, as the proportions of the minifigs aren't "normal". I am surprised that this kind of MOC (apartment-replica) isn't more common. Good luck with yours
  24. Thanks Here is the continuation, with the laundry/utility room and WC. Here is how I made the WC: Installed in the room, with the washstand (and the thing above with the 1x2 blue tile is the lamp) The laundry/utility room looks like this: The washing machine with crates over it: It is here that there was a scale problem. One stud was missing in width for WC + washing machine, so the back wall won't be "double" like the others... not a big deal. Here is the result with the meter: I also made the wall of the "inside" part of the building, i.e. the one between my apartment and the other ones / the floor hallway: Next thing to do is the outside wall in tan & dark-red (as now I have taken apart the Robie House seen here in background, I have some 1x2 plates), then the whole inside/furniture.
  25. One more architecture set using trans-blue plates ?
