  1. The one year time limit is great. As many have said if your project cannot reach 10k votes in a year it most likely does not have the economic viability it would require to pass the review process. If anything this might force some people to better refine their project before posting it, rather than just putting it up and hoping to eventually get results. Which could in turn lead to a better selection. Not that it would stop the project dumping on the site, but would help to have a regular clean up of said projects. Linking the new ideas site to the TLG site will also mean more casual buyers of Legos will more likely to see it and might be inspired to build something of their own. Which is really the whole point for TLG, to keep people interesting in building. An on going reality based contest and like all good contests a deadline is essential or you end up with stagnation which was a problem on Cuusoo. Don't view the one year time limit as a hindrance, view it as a challenge. TLG is looking for the best sets, not just the good ones.
  2. Yeah I'm not advocating the colors, just the element types.
  3. The inquisition, what a show. The inquisition, here we go!
  4. Funny I was looking at the summer wave of Friends, jungle falls rescue 41033 and I thought the same thing. Made me wonder if we would see similar elements next year in a pirate wave. I particularly like the idea of a treasure cove, makes me think of the goonies for some reason.
  5. Oh just the may TLG store calendar.
  6. True. But apparently Lucas supported a bit of the EU giving it his blessing. Lucas himself says he sees no difference between TCW and the movies. The biggest problem with the EU is that a portion, who knows how much, conflicts with Lucas's story ideas beyond RoTJ. This would tie the hands of Disney who would have to sort out what is basically a giant mess. They decided to basically due away with the EU making everything they produce canon and everything else not canon. Viewing how controlling Disney is over their brands it's really no surprise. I would also not be surprised to see some of the EU material appear in future movies, either as part of the Star Wars main trilogy or as a part of the stand alone movies that have been talked about. What this means is Disney wants everyone to move forward away from EU and PT for that matter. Episode VII is a continuation of OT thus why TCW was ended and why we will see few sets from PT other than the ones that were already agreed upon.
  7. I would say the opposite. My guess is he has green makeup on to give him green undertones and they use lighting to make him look grayish. TLG went with info they were given that could easily have changed during production, let alone post production. I think its a bit folly to expect the film version and a minifig to match up exactly. Both are really interpretations based on how they look best in their given environment.
  8. 100% green, no. Special effects makeup is never all one color, other colors are added to give interest, depth and detail. You can clearly see orange in the highlights on both the raised and smooth areas of his skin. Not to mention bits of yellow and red on the smooth portions. Plus he has a blue light on him which you can clearly see in both his eyes and the person to his right which is resulting in some grey in the shadow areas. Just look at the top of his head, it is clearly several colors influenced by the paint on his skin and the light. The wood in the background running through his ears also show the same mixture of a greenish green would could also indicate other lights and reflective light from a large green object. I imagine his coloring would look very different outside.
  9. Shouldn't this be titled wish list? You do realized there is already a millennium falcon in stores? Not to mention anyone who is holding their breath for many more PT sets better plan to pass out.
  10. I missed PoTC completely, would have loved to have gotten one of thoses ships. I'm very excited about a new ship, maybe a fleet of scoundrels.
  11. I really hope whoever is driving the bus is a big OT fan. And believes Han shot first
  12. "The site will never be used by the LEGO Group to promote LEGO sets." If this is a real lego set wouldn't they be violating this tenet?
  13. Anyone read the end of this? http://www.thebrickfan.com/lego-may-2014-store-calendar-details/ Any idea if it's possibly true? I'm hoping for something a bit more interesting.
  14. Because minifigs help to sell sets. None of these companies want to flood the market with a valuable tool that can be used to make even more money. And we are highly unlikely to be getting any more Simpson sets.
  15. For thoses of us who know nothing about EU, where along the time line does Darth Revan fall?
  16. People have to remember the onus is not just on TLG, the license holders are apart of what is being produced. As long as batman sets continue to sell well they are going to produce them. And I think TLG is pretty clear about not being in the business of providing everyone collectible minifigs in a vast array of characters. There are companies that do that and do it well. TLG makes money selling bricks, regardless of why one buys the sets.
  17. It doesn't really matter what they base it on, it's still been tainted. A company as protective of its brand like Disney is not going to risk having competitors attack them or parent groups protesting them for such a poor decision. The risk is so much greater than the reward, a reward which in itself it not even guaranteed. If you thought there was a stink about Jabbas palace, I can only imagine what it would be like for a Jedi temple. These are global brands we are talking about, that serve a wide range of cultures and beliefs. Just because someone here, or all, may not object to something does not mean someone on the opposite side of the world will not. That's Disney and TLG's perspective, because they want to sell to everyone in the world, not just a limited market.
  18. You honestly believe that Disney would have a set put out that is connected with a child massacre? It's was always unlikely TLG would touch a set like that before and now that Disney owns the license you can pretty much forget about . It's absurd to equate zombies and vampires with killing children.
  19. Now that Disney owns the license I would seriously doubt there will ever be a Jedi temple. Do you have the research and sales figures that tell both Disney and TLG what sells to children? Do you have the impact study of releasing a set that is the site of of child massacre? Mickey wouldn't touch that with a 100 ft wand, frozen or not.
  20. How can you say they didn't split up the wave? Bachamn said they had dwarves they didn't release for DoS. If they originally were going to release them for the 2nd and final movie but then wait to release it for TABA that would be splitting up the wave. If you have 6 products and two movies then that is 3 products per movie. But if after the first you now have three movies but only three products left, then you would have to split it up. Thus one movie would obviously have a lot less than the first. See what I am saying? This is obviously what happened with TLG, except they put together some sets to fill in for those that got shifted/split to the last wave. Because I doubt that TLG planned on releasing eight sets for one movie.
  21. Unless of course they are holding off releasing the dwarves for the third movie. If you only plan to release x amount of merchandise for two movies but then there are three movies that would certainly change production. Also all markets are different. They are plenty of regional markets that vary in the U.S., let alone on a global scale. It could very well be larger figures don't sell we'll in Europe since people tend to have smaller living spaces. Where in the u.s. people who collect that type of figure tend to buy the larger figures. Who knows.
  22. In this case you have to look at Warner bros. since they hold the license. They are ultimately responsible for the Hobbit going from two to three movies. And while that may be great for box office numbers its not really panning out to merchandise. The material has been stretched a bit too thin and we are seeing the result. I do hope the third wave will make up for it all.
  23. Yes, please! I would love to have some Vikings and their ships. I'm not too concerned with historical accuracy thus dragons would be great too. With the belief that Smaug will be molded, I was already hoping the TLG would use it somewhere else. It has been awhile since vikings have sailed the lego seas.
  24. I've seen much the same thing. Target initially had all the sets after the first of the year. But since only a smattering with usually MEA present. Something else I've noticed at target the second wave is no longer in the same spot as TLoR and wave 1 were always found. They are now sitting next to, sometimes mixed with the castle sets. It's the section where the least desirable sets seem to exist. Where the Lone Ranger went to die, where sponge bob sat for a very long time and other clearances items sit. They used to sit next to the superheroes sets and now seem to have been supplanted by chima and ninjago. Maybe it means nothing but they no longer seem to have an established place of their own.
