  1. Welcome to the forum bachamn. Didn't they do that recently with another bonus minfig, put the whole poly in the box? The Target DOS blu ray is now available for pre-order. http://www.target.com/p/the-hobbit-desolation-of-smaug-blu-ray-dvd-only-at-target/-/A-15244585#prodSlot=large_1_1&term=The%20hobbit,%20desolation
  2. If the poster is for the movie, why is the picture of a minifig? TLG is usually not in the business of producing advertising for a product they do not make. I would trust a sign that was displayed for the public more than a press guide that was most likely printed before the change. Everyone just needs to be a little more patient. Amazon has the release date as April 8. http://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Hobbit-Xbox-360/dp/B00GY4OBB0/ref=sr_1_1_title_2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1393422372&sr=1-1&keywords=lego+hobbit+video+game
  3. From what I remember last year at SDCC a piece count was given and later changed for LTC. So I don't see a press guide as something that is written in stone.
  4. Minas Morgul. This might end up being the most lopsided vote yet.
  5. I saw a few at toys r us last week. Picked up a few Death Star troopers during their bogo sale. All their new Star Wars sets are at retail price, for now. Are these the topics you are looking for?
  6. Now that you mention it I do remember the mention of three buildings. If there were ruins I would think they would be easy to differentiate but no one mentions them. Plus they are mentioned as an addon to LTC, perhaps both sets are of Laketown then? It's not like we really need any more ruins, wave two covered that well.
  7. It would seem to make more sense that the BoFA is set 79016. Especially if its the battle pack people hope it is. What major structure would be included for a battle that would justify the price? Having the Laketown set the larger would be more in line with previous sets, especially since I believe it will include Smaug. The difference between the two middle sets is only 156 pieces yet the larger set is double the price. I imagine Smaug will be similar size as the castle dragon that stood in for its place in London. That makes up for the difference in price. That of course is assuming these piece counts are correct. Since the sets were not finalized at London it's extremely like that the piece count will change. I also don't ever remember seeing a piece count for the largest set until now. Where did it come from?
  8. Maybe a Lando in the possibly new UCS Falcon?
  9. Not sure if this has been posted yet. http://www.target.com/p/the-hobbit-desolation-of-smaug-blu-ray-dvd-only-at-target/-/A-15244585#prodSlot=large_1_1&term=The%20hobbit,%20desolation A real confirmation!
  10. Yeah nothing has been confirmed. Quick looks by those who seemed to have little interest in The Hobbit.
  11. I believe google uses your search history to determine the ads you see. I was perusing a local carpet company not long ago and now I see their ads on here all the time.
  12. You see most children have imaginations and don't need to have exact replicas to play and pretend. The vast majority of parents aren't going to buy Johnny the same toy over and over again so he can reproduce battles in a movie. He will be easily able to use all his toys to do so if he wishes. And when he tired of playing battle he can take all those other different toys and play something else. Some times Han Solo flies the millennium falcon, sometimes he's a cowboy and some times he is the bad buy. Sometimes dinosaurs are good guys fighting the evil justice league. This is how most children play, the same ones who represent the vast majority of those who buy or have bought for them Legos. Parents tend to want to raisewell rounded children so they like to see them get a variety of toys the represent a child's varying interests. Plus the fact most patents don't have endless budgets so children have to make due and you guessed it, use their imagination.
  13. Boxes are mainly important to collectors. Even if the set is used the box adds value and that applies to all toys. The older the set the rarier the box becomes due to mainly for the reasons stated above, though water damage seems also to be a big culprit. Thus a complete set with instructions and box will always have more value in the long run. I keep some boxes, the sets that have less distribution or are unique. And a few that just have great looking art work.
  14. I have cloud cuckoo palace in my winter wonderland scene(winter carnival) for my twins birthday party. It was a hit. I often take a variety of sets from different themes and put them together into a scene for a mantel. Other than Star Wars and TLoR/The Hobbit, I usually pick up sets that fit into that context. I've always thought the best part of the lego movie sets were their eclectic nature that would easily allow them to fit into a variety type of displays. But then again my displays are not traditional and are geared more towards making children happy.
  15. I know some of us are waiting to see what exactly Disney will do in terms of story. How heavy handed they are in attempting to make it a Disney product which could affect some of the characters we might see.
  16. Seems irrelevant since the EU appears to have been eliminated. http://jedinews.co.uk/news/news.aspx?newsID=15619
  17. I'm very apprehensive about Mickey at the helm as well. But from what I have seen so far I like what they are doing in terms of the next movie. The return of hand made models, less reliance on cgi and the return of Luke, Leia and Han. Wiping out the EU is a smart movie which will put all the focus on rebels and next trilogy.
  18. More OT is out of this world!
  19. They don't watch Star Wars in the city? I understand but the original poster was saying the sea cow doesn't fit into a theme of its own without modification. Unlike the Death Star which has its own natural theme. Most people who like pirates look for ships that are realistic, and not whimsical like the sea cow. And the steampunk nature, which I like, isn't readily available in any theme to provide this ship with a matching port. If you catch my drift.
  20. Funny, I always thought the Death Star went with Star Wars.
  21. Hurrah! No big surprise though. I'm sure the EU was going to make the creation of further movies very complicated. Plus any elements that they like can be added in while not tying their hands. People should view this as a good thing.
  22. I imagine TLG was wanting to get the sets out sooner than December to give people more time to buy before Christmas. But maybe after seeing the sales figures, which can be assume were good, decided to go with the December release again. And just because the change was announced in New York doesn't mean that the relevant people didn't already know. Plus the fact this is only February so a change for the end of the year isn't going to be very important to retailers. If anything it'll just allow them to use November sales to clear their shelves of wave 2. Frankly there could be all sorts of reasons for the change many of which we will never know. At this point two months isn't a big deal and gives me more time this year to buy OT Star Wars sets. If anything I am much more interested in next years possible releases.
